36 DPF Required Maintenance DPFs combust most captured particulate matter (PM) under high exhaust temperature conditions. After most PM is burned off ash remains in the DPF If device is not working optimally due to lower temperatures or poor engine maintenance, un-burned PM will clog the unit faster than ash alone Remaining inorganic ash does not combust and will collect in the DPF over time The remaining ash must be periodically removed from the DPF through professional cleaning using HAZMAT procedures for removal and disposal
