11 WHEN PROTECTION HAS YOU SURROUNDED Encore has its priorities in the right place: everywhere. In the center-mounted information screen, the Rear Vision Camera helps you see what s behind your Encore, and available Rear Cross Traffic Alert helps make you aware of oncoming traffic when backing up. On the opposite page, you can read about available safety features such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Side Blind Zone Alert. These safety features are no substitute for the driver s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Read the vehicle Owner s Manual for more important safety information. FORWARD COLLISION ALERT When you re approaching a vehicle ahead too quickly, Forward Collision Alert lets you know with audio and visual warnings. Consider it a hightech way of reminding you to slow down and enjoy the ride. REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT A camera in the rear captures a view behind the car, while radar sensors detect vehicles approaching from the left or right within 65 feet. The system alerts you audibly and by flashing a warning signal on the Rear Vision Camera screen. SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT Using radar technology to help you avoid a collision, Side Blind Zone Alert warns you when vehicles entering your blind zone are detected by sensors on either side of your Encore. A warning icon appears in your outside rearview mirror. LANE DEPARTURE WARNING Lane Departure Warning provides both an audio and visual alert should your Encore drift out of its lane without you first having activated your turn signal. SAFETY 19

12 SAFETY & TECHNOLOGY 21 WHEN TECHNOLOGY GUIDES YOU The REAR VISION CAMERA helps you see objects while in reverse, while available REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT makes you aware of approaching traffic when backing up. Available FRONT AND REAR PARK ASSIST is designed to help the driver park and avoid obstacles while maneuvering. Ultrasonic sensors detect objects in front of and behind the vehicle. When the system detects an object, it provides audible alerts through Encore s speakers. Low-toned beeps from the rear speakers indicate an object at the rear; high-toned beeps from the front speakers indicate an object in front of Encore. The faster the beeps, the closer the object.

13 VERSATILITY & PERFORMANCE 23 WHEN A WHIM BECOMES A WEEKEND 1 Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and distribution. When the weekend rolls around, Encore helps make the most of your escape plans, too. The five-passenger seating transforms to nearly 50 cubic feet of cargo space 1 with the second-row seats folded flat. Even with the rear seat up, Encore gives you almost 20 cubic feet of cargo room.

Raise the rear seats with ease to welcome them to sit surrounded by spacious comfort. Encore s front passenger seat can also fold flat to create room for objects as long as 8 feet.

You ll have access to limited OnStar services, 2 which include select features of the OnStar RemoteLink mobile app 3 to remote-start your car (if factory-installed), manage your available Wi-Fi hotspot, 4 locate your vehicle on a map and lock/unlock your doors from your mobile device. NAVIGATION Turn-by-Turn Navigation 8 Getting directions is as easy as pushing a button and telling an Advisor where you want to go. Directions are quickly downloaded to your car, and a voice calls out every turn. An Advisor can also help you with a database of over 14 million points of interest. To plan routes in advance, you can send destinations to your vehicle through an Advisor or the RemoteLink mobile app. DIAGNOSTICS Advanced Diagnostics 9 Feel confident and safe knowing you have a self-diagnosing vehicle with Advanced Diagnostics.
