5 INTERIOR DESIGN The cockpit of the 2018 TLX was fashioned to support the driver and front passenger by creating a personal sanctuary where every performance-inspired detail is deliberate and intuitive. The centre stack features two display screens one dedicated to phone, navigation and information, and a second that is touch-friendly and controls audio and climate functions. 11 P-AWS PRECISION ALL-WHEEL STEER Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) takes advantage of the untapped steering potential of the rear wheels, adapting intuitively in support of the driver and responding to their inputs with constant and immediate adjustments. This intelligent system adjusts the toe angle of each rear wheel independently for increased agility and stability while cornering, changing lanes and braking, helping to deliver an exceptional level of handling precision and performance. 13 SH-AWD SUPER HANDLING ALL-WHEEL DRIVE Super Handling All-Wheel Drive was designed to adapt to the driver for superb handling under virtually any condition. This innovative torque-vectoring system sends power to the wheels that need it most, distributing power from front to back, or side to side on the rear wheels, helping to match driver input, weight distribution and available traction. In a corner, the system sends up to 100 percent of the rear power to the outside wheel, effectively rotating the car and significantly enhancing manoeuvrability and control. This performance technology helps to provide seamless power transitions and remarkable control control that goes beyond traction and forms a direct connection between driver and car. CORNERING When cornering on dry surfaces, up to 70 percent of the torque is distributed to the rear. Torque vectoring allows up to 100 percent of that power to be distributed to the outside rear wheel, improving control and helping rotate the TLX through the turn. LANE CHANGE For increased stability during lane changes, the SH-AWD system is designed to transfer power to the inside rear wheel. SLIPPERY ROAD Under slick conditions, SH-AWD is designed to actively send power to the wheel with the most traction. 16 ACE BODY STRUCTURE Acura s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE ) body structure is designed to help absorb and disperse frontal impact energy so less force is transferred to what really matters: the people inside. But we didn t stop there. Crash compatibility is designed into the structure as well, so in the event of a frontal collision, the occupants of all vehicles involved may be better protected. ACE incorporates extra bracing at the front corners (yellow) designed to absorb and distribute impact energy from narrow-offset collisions to the primary crash structure. The outer braces (red) are designed to transfer impact load toward the centre of the frame, where the energy can be distributed around the cabin area more evenly. This enhanced frontal-crash-energy management helps reduce the forces transferred to the reinforced cabin (blue) and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles in a collision.
