During its development, we test drove the TOURNEO CONNECT the equivalent of 3 million kilomeres, including 250,000 kilomeres with real customers. ECOnectic Technology features available on the new TOURNEO CONNECT include: EcoMode: The system monitors a driver s behaviour and provides clear feedback about their eco-driving performance, along with simple tips about how to save more fuel. Auto-Stop/Start: Auto-Stop/Start automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle is stationary and in neutral gear and restarts the engine when the driver wants to move off, saving the fuel usually wasted while the vehicle is stationary. (Standard on 1.0 EcoBoost engines) Gear Shift Indicator: The system monitors driving, taking into account road gradient, vehicle load and your individual driving style, to identify the most suitable and fuel efficient gear change point, indicated by a light in the instrument panel. Ford s advanced IPS uses a range of sophisticated technologies designed to keep you protected, including ultra-high strength steel safety cage, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and front, side and curtain airbags. Note: A rear-facing child seat should never be placed in the front passenger seat when the Ford vehicle is equipped with an operational front passenger s airbag. The safest place for children is properly restrained on the rear seat. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). ESP is designed to help you maintain control in extreme driving conditions. It senses when you are deviating from your chosen line and aims to keep you on track by automatically regulating braking and engine output. Load Adaptive Control. Trailer Sway Control. Designed to adjust the responses of the ESP system to compensate when the vehicle is unladen, partially or fully-laden. When it detects trailer sway, the system is designed to reduce engine torque and apply the brakes to the appropriate wheel(s) to help maintain control. (Standard with Ford factory-fitted tow bar) Rollover Mitigation. Designed to identify a potentially dangerous driving situation and activate the ESP to restore stability. Traction control system. If wheel slip is detected at low speed, this system can distribute more torque to the wheel with most traction. Emergency brake warning. Front and rear indicators automatically flash during heavy braking, giving other drivers advanced hazard warning. Occupant safety. 6 The TOURNEO CONNECT is the first compact people mover to be awarded the maximum 5-star safety rating by independent crash test authority, EURO NCAP. Driver and passenger front airbags with thorax and side curtain airbags. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). Designed to recognise an emergency braking situation and increases the pressure within the braking system to provide optimum stopping power. Hill Launch Assist (HLA). Designed to temporarily prevent you from rolling down a slope when you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal. It works in forward and reverse gears, so is ideal for towing and pulling heavy loads. Parking distance sensors, front and rear. With the TOURNEO CONNECT, you won t have to pass by those more challenging parking spaces. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles at the front and rear, for easier parking and manoeuvring. (Option) Rear-view camera. Select reverse and the view from the rear view camera is displayed automatically in the internal mirror. Marker lines overlaid on the camera image indicate where the vehicle is heading. Dual-zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC) air conditioning. Can be adjusted separately for the driver and front passenger, with up to 4 C variation from side to side. (Standard on all Titanium models) Cruise control with Automatic Speed Limiting Device (ASLD). Let s you set the pace. The TOURNEO CONNECT has sensors that detect falling light at dusk, or when there s a sudden change in light conditions.
