3 NISSAN SUNDERLAND PLANT (NMUK) Production started at Nissan Sunderland Plant in 1986 The factory is now the biggest UK car plant of all time 2013 was another landmark year for the plant, including: Over 500,000 cars built for the second year running Employment passed 7,000 for the first time 3

14 ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION Nissan s operations support 40,000 jobs in the UK, including 29,000 in the supply chain 21,000 jobs supported in North East In the past two years, the automotive supply chain has announced 17 projects worth 1,600 jobs in Sunderland Over 80% of Sunderland Plant cars are exported to 132 global markets Mainland Europe is our core customer base Nissan accounted for 1.4% of all UK manufacturing exports 14
