3 3 Instrument Panel Cluster B A Your vehicle s instrument panel is equipped with this cluster or one very similar to it. The instrument panel cluster includes these key features: C D A. 4 4 Getting to Know Your H2 Heated Front Seats Power Lumbar Front Seats B A This feature allows you to heat the front seatbacks and seat cushions simultaneously or just the seatbacks. The controls are located on the driver and front passenger door panels. Select a heat setting for both the seatback and seat cushion Press and release the horizontal button ( A above) until the indicator light shows the desired setting. Select a heat setting for the seatback only Press and release the vertical button ( B above) until the indicator light shows the desired setting. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual. Passenger Automatic Locking Restraint (ALR) The safety belt is designed to lock during an accident, but it will also lock if it is pulled out all the way during initial buckling, and you may be unaware that this has happened. If the safety belt does lock, unbuckle it and allow it to retract fully; then pull it out and rebuckle the belt. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual. Adjust lumbar support Press the front or rear of the control located on the side of the seat cushion near the door. Release at the preferred setting. Adjust wing area of lower seatback Press the top or bottom of the lumbar control. Release at the preferred setting. See Section 1 of your Owner Manual. Global Express-Down Windows The Global Express-Down feature allows you to lower all four door windows as well as the Midgate window (SUT only) with one touch of a button. A B Lower the door windows and Midgate window Press the Global Express-Down button located on the driver door panel (see A above).

5 5 Raise the door windows and Midgate window (SUT only) Press and hold the up button located next to the Global Express-Down button on the driver door panel (see B previous page). See Section 2 of your Owner Manual. OnStar The OnStar system provides in-vehicle safety, security and phone services, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These services are easily accessed through the three OnStar buttons in your vehicle. Press the white Dot button to access OnStar Personal Calling, a handsfree, voice-activated phone service.* Press the blue OnStar button to connect to an OnStar Advisor for services such as GM Goodwrench Remote Diagnostics or routing and location assistance.** Press the red Emergency button to connect to an OnStar Advisor who can contact a nearby emergency services provider to dispatch ambulance, police, fire, or other emergency services to your location. For more information about OnStar features, refer to the OnStar Owner s Manual and Audio CD, located in your glove box. * Available in most markets. **Routing and location assistance may require service upgrade. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual. Lowering the Midgate (SUT only) 1. Lower the rear glass by using the Global Express-Down button located on the driver door panel, or by using the rear glass button located on the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. 2. Pull the bench seat to the forward position; then fold the seatback flat. 3. Press the electric Midgate button located on the Midgate to release it. 4. Fold the Midgate flat; then flip over the ship step. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

6 6 Getting to Know Your H2 Automatic Climate Control System D B In addition to its automatic temperature control feature, this climate control system allows the driver and front passenger to choose separate temperature settings. Adjust settings for automatic operation Push the AUTO button ( A above) and adjust the temperature knob ( B above) to the desired temperature, to set automatic air delivery mode, fan speed, A/C and recirculation functions for the driver. Set same temperature for driver and front passenger Press and hold the AUTO button for four seconds. Select air distribution manually Press and release the Mode button ( C above) until the desired source of air is indicated on the display. Manually raise or lower fan speed Press the upper or lower portion of the fan control button ( D above). Additional Climate Control System Functions : Recirculates interior air while in Vent, Bi-Level positions. To prevent window fogging, Recirculation will not operate in the Defog, Defrost or Floor mode. C A : Clears windshield and front side windows of fog/frost. : Clears rear glass of fog/frost and activates heated outside rearview mirrors. : Turns the air conditioning system on and off. The snowflake symbol appears on the display when the air conditioning system is on. Note: When the climate control system is off, outside air will continue to enter the vehicle and will be directed according to the mode position selected. This is normal climate control operation. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual. Entertainment Systems Radio/CD Your radio may have a button marked H or HR to represent hours and an M or MIN to represent minutes. Set the time Press and hold the hour button until the correct hour appears on the display. Press and hold the minute button until the correct minute appears on the display. Note: The time may be set with the ignition on or off.

7 7 Program radio station presets 1. Turn the radio on. 2. Press BAND to select the band (AM, FM1/FM2). 3. Use the seek or tune knob to tune in the desired station. 4. Press AUTO EQ or AUTO TONE (as applicable to your radio) to select the equalization that best suits the type of station selected. 5. Press and hold one of the six numbered buttons until a beep sounds; release the button. 6. Repeat these steps for each station preset, using a different numbered button for each station. Six-Disc CD Changer (if equipped) Load one CD 1. With the ignition on, press and release the LOAD side of the LOAD CD button. 2. Wait for the indicator light at the right side of the slot to turn green. 3. Insert the disc partway into the slot, label side up; the player will pull the disc in. Eject a CD Press and release the Eject button ( ). Load multiple CDs 1. With the ignition on, press and hold the LOAD button for two seconds. The unit beeps and the light to the right of the slot begins to flash. 2. When the light stops flashing and turns green, insert a disc partway, label side up. 3. The indicator light will begin blinking and turn steadily green. Load another disc at this time. 4. When loading more than one but fewer than six CDs, press the LOAD button again to signal that loading is complete. When more than one disc is loaded, a number for each disc is displayed. To play a specific CD, press the CD AUX button and then the number of the CD you want to hear. A small bar appears under the CD number that is playing, and the track number appears. Eject multiple CDs Press and hold the Eject button ( ) for two seconds. You will hear a beep and the light will flash when a CD is being ejected. Note: CDs with any labels may jam in the CD player. Label a CD using a permanent marker. If more than one CD is inserted into the slot at one time, or if scratched or damaged CDs are played, the CD player could be damaged. When using the CD player, use only CDs in good condition without added labels; load one CD at a time; and keep the CD player and the loading slot free of foreign materials, liquids and debris. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

8 8 Getting to Know Your H2 Rear Seat Audio (RSA) The following functions are controlled by the RSA system buttons: (Power): Press this button to turn the Rear Seat Audio system on or off. You may operate the Rear Seat Audio functions even when the primary radio power is off. (Volume): Turn this knob to increase or decrease volume. The left knob controls the left headphone and the right knob controls the right headphone. SRC (Source): Press this button to select an audio source: radio, cassette tapes, CDs or DVDs, depending on your vehicle s options. (SEEK): While listening to FM1, FM2, or AM, press the up or down arrow to tune to the next or previous station and stay there. If the front radio is in use, you cannot seek different stations. While listening to a cassette tape, press the up or down arrow to hear the next or previous selection. If the cassette tape on the front radio is in use, you cannot seek different selections on a tape. While listening to a CD, press the up arrow to hear the next track on the CD. Press the down arrow to go back to the start of the current track if more than eight seconds have played. If the CD player on the front radio is in use, you cannot seek different tracks. PROG (Program): The front passengers must be listening to a different source for each of these functions to work: Press this button to go to the preset radio stations set on the pushbuttons on the main radio. When a cassette tape is playing, press this button to go to the other side of the tape. When a CD is playing in the radio, press this button to go back to the beginning of the CD. When a CD is playing in the CD changer, press this button to select the next CD. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual. Navigation Radio (if equipped) Set a station preset 1. Turn the radio on by pressing the VOL (power) button. 2. Push the BAND button to select the desired band. 3. Use either the TUNE knob or the SEEK rocker to tune to a station.

9 9 4. Press and hold one of the six buttons on the lower side of the radio screen until you hear a beep or see the station displayed on the button. Set your geographical area and destination 1. Turn the radio on by pressing the VOL (power) button. 2. Insert a map disc into the CD slot. 3. If a notice appears, press the NEXT button on the screen. 4. Push the DEST button on the screen after the default map screen appears. 5. Press the CHANGE button on the right side of the destination screen. 6. Determine whether your geographical area is selected. If it is not, press the button that represents your area. 7. Press the ADDRESS button on the screen. 8. Enter the name of your street. The smart speller will assist you. (Use the Back arrow to correct any misspellings.) 9. If provided a list of streets, select your street. 10. Enter the street address. 11. If provided a list of cities, select the proper one. 12. Press the ENTER DESTINATION button. The system now calculates the fastest route. You may choose to either enter into guidance mode by pressing the NAV button on the upper left or view and select alternate routes by pressing the ROUTE button, followed by the 3 ROUTES button. Navigation Radio Operating Tips Pushing one of the hard keys on the left side of the radio will always return you to a top-level menu. Once a route is set, it will remain until it is reached or canceled. Note that you can stop along the way, return to the vehicle and it will still be in guidance mode. While navigating, you can press Nav Options to bring up a menu that allows you to cancel the route. The FASTEST selection will choose main roads for travel. The SHORTEST selection will route you using all of the shortcuts. After selecting the NAV mode, pushing the Menu button allows you to set up the map appearance, adjust the volume of the voice prompts, and utilize many other features. The CD button allows you to select the internal CD player, the external CD changer (if equipped) or a control screen for rear seat entertainment (if equipped). Note that you cannot play a CD in the internal CD player and have route guidance at the same time. The AUDIO button allows you to adjust balance, fade, bass and treble, as well as the amplifier DSP settings.

10 10 Getting to Know Your H2 The CONFIG button allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast of the main screen. You can also override the vehicle selection of day or night screen mode and change the vehicle chime volume. Another useful feature allows you to add several common or planned destinations as memory points from the NAV menu. When you wish to navigate to one of these points, you can simply select it as a memory point from the destination entry screen. A scroll bar on the left part of the screen indicates that there are more items that can be displayed by pressing the page up/down or line up/down arrows. See your Navigation Radio supplement for more information. 2. Press and hold the desired remote button through step When the remote light blinks slowly (within 30 seconds), hold your transmitter/opener 1 to 3 away from the remote buttons. Then press and hold your transmitter button until the remote light flashes rapidly (up to 90 seconds). The process is now complete. Note: If your transmitter has a rolling code feature, this process may not work. Please refer to your Owner Manual. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual. Steering Wheel Controls Universal Home Remote Program Universal Home Remote 1. Determine which of the three channels (buttons) you want to program: garage door opener, gate opener, entry door locks or other. (OnStar /Voice Recognition) This button will activate OnStar for use. PROG: Press this button to cycle through the radio presets.

11 11 : Press to select AM, FM, FM2, cassette or CD. : Press to seek radio stations, to advance within CD tracks, or turn the cassette tape to the other side. : Press to adjust radio volume. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual. Automatic Headlamp Controls Manually activate the headlamps, all exterior tail/side-marker lamps and the instrument panel/radio lights Turn the exterior lamps knob to this position ( ). Turn off dome lamps Press the dome override button ( ) below the exterior lamp knob to turn off the dome lamps while a door or the Midgate is open. Press the button again to return to automatic operation. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual. Power Folding Mirrors Turn off Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) and automatic headlamps Turn the exterior lamps knob (located to the left of the steering wheel) to Off ( ) and release. Note: Your DRL or automatic headlamps will re-engage at the next key cycle. Activate the automatic headlamp system Turn the exterior lamps knob to AUTO. The automatic headlamp system will turn on the front and rear lamps. Manually iiluminate the parking lamps, side- marker lamps, taillamps, instrument panel/radio lights, license plate lamps and roof marker lamps Turn the exterior lamps knob to the parking lamp position ( ). Fold mirrors Move the selector switch located above A the mirror control (see A ) to the center position. Press the right B side of the four-way control pad (see B ) to fold the mirrors in. Press the left side of the four-way control pad to fold the mirrors out. If the mirrors have been folded manually, carefully rotate them outboard to their original position until a click sound is heard. Then, move them through the power folding cycle three times to reset them in their tracks. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

12 12 Getting to Know Your H2 Content Theft-Deterrent System (if equipped) Arm the System Lock the doors using the power door lock switch or the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter. The Security light on the instrument cluster will illuminate (or flash if a door is open) to inform the driver the system is about to be armed. After a short period of time with all doors closed, the Security light will go off, indicating the system is armed and functioning. If the Door Lock Delay setting is turned on, the system will not be armed until all doors are closed and the delay timer has expired. Because your vehicle is equipped with a Driver Information Center, you can program the alarm to the following: Both Horn/Headlamps Horn only Lamps only Off Note: Your vehicle s factory default setting is Horn and Lamps. See the Personalizing Your Vehicle section of this booklet for more information. Four-Wheel Drive and Suspension System Controls Transfer Case Buttons Your vehicle s transfer case buttons (shown here) allow you to shift into and out of the various fourwheel-drive modes. Locking Rear Axle The locking rear axle can give you additional rear-wheel traction when driving in off-road conditions such as mud, snow, sand, steep hills and uneven terrain. This feature can only be engaged when the transfer case is in the 4LO Locked mode. It is recommended the axle be locked when the vehicle is stopped. Please note that the locker will automatically deactivate above 20 mph. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

13 13 Traction Control System The H2 s standard Traction Control System operates only when it senses that a wheel is spinning or beginning to lose traction. When this happens, the system applies the brakes to limit wheelspin. TC2 allows limited wheelspin to help gain additional traction in deep sand or mud conditions. The TC2 system operates only in the following transfer case modes: 4HI Lock 4LO Lock 4LO Lock and Locking Rear Axle Activate the TC2 System Press the TC2 button located on the instrument panel to the right of the steering wheel. The orange indicator light next to the 2 will illuminate when the feature is active. If the transfer case is in a mode where the feature is not allowed, the indicator light will flash for 15 seconds and then go out. Selectable Extended Rear Ride Height (if equipped) This feature is part of the optional electronically controlled air suspension system. The selectable rear ride height allows you to raise the rear of the vehicle approximately 2 inches (5 cm) over the normal ride height for additional running ground clearance. To use this feature, the following conditions must be met: 1. All the doors must be fully closed (the suspension will not rise or lower if a door is open). 2. The vehicle must be traveling less than 35 mph (56 km/h), or the system will not activate. Tow/Haul Mode Your vehicle is equipped with a Tow/Haul mode that assists you when towing or hauling a heavy load. When pulling a heavy trailer or load, the Tow/Haul mode: Reduces the frequency and improves the predictability of transmission shifts. Provides more solid shift feel. Improves the control of vehicle speed while requiring less throttle pedal activity. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

14 14 Getting to Know Your H2 Off-Road Driving Basics Overview Off-road driving can be great fun, but it does have its hazards. The greatest hazard can be the terrain itself. Off-road driving involves some new skills, so it s very important to read this guide as well as your Owner Manual. Loading Your Vehicle for Off-Road Driving There are some important things to remember about loading your vehicle: The heaviest things should be on the load floor and forward of your rear axle. Put heavier items as forward as you can, but do not place them in the front seat area. Be sure the load is secured properly to prevent items from being tossed during off-road driving. Note: Cargo on the load floor piled higher than the seat can be thrown forward during sudden stops. Unsecured cargo on the load floor can be tossed about when driving over rough terrain. Heavy loads on the roof raise the vehicle s center of gravity, making it more likely to roll over. High Mobility Characteristics The HUMMER H2 has a: A. 10-inch (coil) running ground clearance and a B. 9.9-inch (22.8-cm) axle-to-ground clearance, while maintaining a low silhouette and a low center of gravity. These characteristics are essential to safety in off-road operation. The HUMMER H2 has an: A. Approach angle of 40.4 (coil) and a B. Departure angle of 39.6 (coil).

15 15 The HUMMER H2 design specifications provide the ability to traverse a maximum 60% (31 ) grade, with passengers and equipment, on high-friction surfaces at 6 mph (9.7 km/h). The HUMMER H2 can climb a 16-inch (40.6-cm) vertical step. See Section 4 of your Owner Manual. Specifications also enable the HUMMER H2 to traverse a 40% (22 ) side slope, with the vehicle fully loaded on highfriction surfaces at 6 mph (9.7 km/h).

16 16 Getting to Know Your H2 Memory Seat and Mirrors (if equipped) The driver s seat and the outside rearview mirrors can be programmed to recall memory settings using the Memory Control buttons on the driver s door. To store the memory settings: 1. Shift the vehicle into Park. 2. Adjust the driver s seat, including the seatback recliner, lumbar and side wing area. 3. Adjust both outside mirrors. 4. Press and hold the 1 or 2 button of the memory control for three seconds. A double chime will sound. Repeat the procedure for a second driver and select the other Memory Control button. Each time button 1 or 2 is pressed with the vehicle in Park, the memory settings will be recalled. To stop recall movement of the driver s seat at any time, press one of the memory buttons or power seat controls. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual. Memory Settings for Your Vehicle (Driver Information Center) (if equipped) To scroll through the features that can be customized using the Driver Information Center: 1. Press the (Personalization) button located on the steering wheel. 2. Press the (Select) button to choose your desired setting. The first setting is the default setting. 3. Press the Personalization button to move to the next feature. Lock Doors (Automatically locks the doors.) Lock Doors: In Gear Lock Doors: With Speed Unlock Doors (Automatically unlocks the doors.) 18 18 Getting to Know Your H2 Driver Information Center Steering Wheel Controls (if equipped) Your steering wheel-mounted DIC controls offer a variety of functions, including providing access to trip and fuel economy information. Odometer/Trip Settings Your vehicle s odometer/trip settings operate only when they are turned on. Press the Trip button ( ) to access the odometer setting. Continue to press the Trip button to access the following trip modes: Trip A Trip B Timer Engine Hours Reset trip information Press and hold for two seconds while viewing any of the trip modes on the Driver Information Center. Note: Whether your vehicle is equipped with a Driver Information Center or not, you can select and reset trip features by using the Trip Odometer Reset Stem located on the instrument panel cluster. Fuel Information Press the (Fuel Information) button to scroll through the Fuel Range, Fuel Used, Average Economy and Engine Oil Life selections on the Driver Information Center. Fuel Range This mode shows the range in miles that the vehicle can travel with the current amount of fuel. The display will show Low if the fuel level is low. Fuel Used This mode shows the current amount of fuel used in gallons since the last reset for Fuel Used. This mode should be reset after every fuel tank fill-up. Average Economy This mode shows the average fuel economy in miles per gallon since the last reset for Average Economy. Engine Oil Life This mode shows the percentage of oil life left until it is recommended to change the engine oil. An oil and filter change should be performed within 600 miles of the Change Oil message being displayed. Reset Fuel Information While a fuel information mode is displayed, press and hold for several seconds. The displayed mode will be reset. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Roadside Assistance provides stranded owners with over-the-phone roadside repairs, location of the nearest HUMMER dealer or the following special services: Fuel delivery Lockout service Tow to nearest dealership for warranty service Flat tire assistance Jump starts The Roadside Assistance services listed are available for a period of 3 years/ 36,000 miles (60,000 km). All services must be prearranged by HUMMER Roadside Assistance. When you call, your Roadside Assistance representative will ask for the following information: Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Name and home address Telephone number and location from which you are calling Location, license plate number and color of your HUMMER Mileage of vehicle and description of problem Roadside Assistance and OnStar Press the blue OnStar button and the vehicle will send your current GPS location to an OnStar Advisor who will speak to you, assess your condition, contact Roadside Assistance and relay your exact location so you will get the help you need.
