2 The Aurangabad site AUDI AG has been producing automobiles at its site in Aurangabad in the Indian federal state of Maharashtra since September The Audi A3 Sedan, Audi A4 Sedan, Audi A6 Sedan and the Audi Q3, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 are produced at the plant of Skoda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL). In addition, SAIPL produces the Volkswagen Jetta and Passat as well as the Škoda models Yeti, Octavia* and Superb in Aurangabad. In the spring of 2007, an independent sales company was founded to coordinate the business activities of Audi in the Indian market. As well as producing the six Audi models Audi A3 Sedan, Audi A4 Sedan, Audi A6 Sedan, Audi Q3, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 for the Indian market, Audi also imports models including the Audi A3 Cabriolet, Audi TT, Audi S5 Sportback, Audi RS 6 Avant, Audi RS 7 Sportback, Audi A8 L and Audi R8 V10 plus. Review of 2016 AUDI AG at the site in Aurangabad produced 5,665 automobiles in 2016 (2015: 11,658). This means that a total of 51,782 automobiles have been produced there since the start of production. Production The entire production concept in Aurangabad is closely based on the small-series production. The Indian employees first pass through comprehensive training courses at the Neckarsulm plant before they take up their demanding tasks in Aurangabad. Production takes place on four production lines. One of which is used for the Audi A4 and the Audi Q5, whereas the Audi A6 is assembled in a separate production hall as well as the Audi Q7 and the Audi A3 together which shares an assembly line with the Audi Q3. The material for the individual production cycles is provided in so-called shopping baskets. In a so-called supermarket, the logistics employees select the parts that are to be fitted to a certain car and place them into the shopping basket. The employees on the production line take the material for the current automobile out of the basket. This means that the employees do not have to leave their working area to fetch the required parts. Logistics When the individual parts are installed in one of the Audi models in Aurangabad, they have a long journey behind them. They are first transported by train from the European production sites to the port in Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Antwerp; the Audi Q3 comes directly from Barcelona, Spain. From there, the individual parts are transported by ship through the 2/5

3 Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal to the port of Nhava Sheva in Mumbai-covering a distance of about 11,000 kilometers (6,835 miles). They are transported the last 480 kilometers (298 miles) from Mumbai to Aurangabad by truck. With the development of the Indian market, Audi is continuing its success story and growth trend, and is investing in an automobile market with very high potential. Production of the Audi A6 Sedan* starts in September The model range produced in Aurangabad is extended with the Audi A4 Sedan. Production starts in September Audi starts the production of the Audi A6*, Audi A4*, Audi Q5*, Audi Q7* and the Audi Q3* with different engine variants The range of models produced in Aurangabad is extended in July with the Audi A3 Sedan. 3/5
