Flexible seating for all occasions The accommodation flexibility of the seven-seat version is truly astonishing because the individual seat positions can be adjusted to suit the needs of the moment. 11 The future has arrived Yes, it s clearly a Santa Fe like the one you have grown to love over the years. Today s look and the personality, though, have moved the model into a new era. The characteristic curving waistline and side cladding, the dual exhausts, the horizontal rear light clusters and the body-coloured bumpers suggest refinement and luxury. That s entirely appropriate, because Santa Fe s emphasis is on more car-like comfort and driveability. 2.7 litre petrol The all-aluminium alloy V6 petrol engine features a variable intake system and variable valve timing for economy with power. With a displacement of 2.7 litres, it produces power of 138 kw(188 ps) at 6,000 rpm and torque of 248 N.m(25.3 kg.m) at 4,000 rpm. The transmission choice is a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. 2.2 litre turbodiesel For the economy and pulling power of diesel, there s a 2.2 litre four-cylinder with the latest injection technology and a variable geometry turbocharger. It is good for 110 kw(150 ps) at 4,000 rpm and amazing torque of 335 N.m(34.2 kg.m) between 1,800 rpm and 2,500 rpm. Manual or automatic transmissions, each with five speeds, are available. Getting a grip Full time four-wheel-drive automatically distributes engine torque between the front and rear wheels. When conditions are more slippery, drive to the front and rear can be locked 50/50 at the press of a button. A multi-link layout at the rear replaces the double wishbone system of the previous model. The result is a decrease in noise, vibration and harshness and improved stability. At the front, the layout of the well-proven MacPherson strut-type suspension was re-engineered for greater comfort and stability.

The curtain air bags that protect heads in a side impact extend to the third row of seats. An active head rest (right) that moves to prevent whiplash is available as an option on each front seat. Steering stability for safety The electronic stability programme, or ESP, automatically compensates for any steering mistakes by the driver. It does so by instantly applying individual brakes as required after monitoring front and rear wheel speeds, deceleration, yaw moment, the angle of the steering wheel and accelerator position. When strength makes sense The toughness of a car s construction is critical. When it is too late for active safety features like brakes and steering to have any effect, occupant protection is down to the vehicle s structural integrity and the multiple air bags. Hyundai engineers design each model on advanced computers that can predict how it will perform in an accident before one is built. Even so, they then crash test scores of prototypes in laboratories before authorising production. It is your seal of safety. Brake-fast The utterly dependable stopping performance, whatever the weather conditions, is attributable to disc brakes on all four wheels. Those at the front are ventilated (right) for better cooling under harsh treatment. The brakes have an electronic anti-locking system to ensure the vehicle stops in a straight line.

14 More Santa Fe Twin exhausts The Santa Fe s dual exhaust pipes are there not just to enhance the look of the rear end which they do. Their real purpose is to cope with the extra output of each of the engine options and to reduce the noise levels emanating from the exhausts. Outside mirror Each of the two outside door mirrors is electrically powered. They also have complete folding facilities for when space is tight. Power windows There s electrically powered window lifters for all four side windows are available on most models. Front styling The frontal treatment epitomises the character of the car, which combines an assertive look with a graceful air. The twin character lines on the bonnet sweep down to the large grille, which features Hyundai s familiar twin horizontal bars and its reassuring logo. The body-coloured bumpers are complemented by wide headlight clusters, separate low-mounted fog lights and a skid plate that reaches up to the grille. Foldable aerial The micro radio aerial built into the rear of the roof section has a mechanism that allows it to be folded flat. Roof rack The smart, integrated roof rack bars, complete with a moveable cross member, are attractive as well as practical. Rear wiper Improved rear visibility and therefore greater safety is provided by the rear wiper/washer system, which is standard fitment on all models. Hatchback handle The handle that opens the rear hatchback door has a chrome insert that echoes the finishes of the side doors. 16 inch alloy wheel The standard 235/70 R16 aluminium alloy wheels have a unique five-spoke design that manages to look modern and stylish. 17 inch alloy wheel The optional 235/65 R17 aluminium alloy wheels have a broad and square-shouldered five-spoke design to give a simple and firm appearance.

Cup holders Positioned exactly where the driver and front passenger most need them, these convenience features reflect Hyundai attention to every quality detail. Centre console The console between the front seats has dual functions as a storage tray and an arm rest. Cool box A cool box is located in the lower part of the central front console. It s great boon for picnic snacks and drinks. Air conditioning The dual zone air conditioning system is fully automated and maintains constant temperatures and directional flows, including to those seated in the rear.
