2 Order of Sale LOT #1: 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Purchased new by Senator Baker then driven by Senator Baker and his wife Joy. Later it was sold or given to the late Senator Everett Dirksen to use for their Florida Car. It was reacquired by Senator Baker and given to Darek Baker to utilize as a teenager. Senator Baker had it restored by Peggy Craft Restorers in Harriman, TN, several times over the years but it was always a well-cared for vehicle that he enjoyed driving on a regular basis. LOT #2: 1951 Studebaker Champion G10 Acquired by Cissy Baker (daughter) and presented to Senator Baker and Joy Baker as an anniversary gift. Cissy had to borrow money from several family members and friends to purchase the car, which was not in very good condition. Senator Baker sent the car to Peggy Craft Restorers for restoration. LOT #3: 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible Purchased for Joy Baker originally, then became Senator Baker s Florida Car. The Lincoln regularly moved from Huntsville, TN, to Florida and was also taken to Washington by Senator Baker for a period of time. This car has always been kept in excellent shape by Senator Baker. Peggy Craft Restorers has done some minor restoration work to this car over the years. LOT #4: 1941 Lincoln Continental This Lincoln is a prize winning restoration completed by Peggy Craft Restorers and would be a star in anyone s collection. The car is fitted with Firestone wide white tires, which is what these cars were fitted with originally from the factory. It is painted underneath as factory original. LOT #5: 1937 Cord 812 Beverly The Cord was the latest purchase in the Howard Baker Collection. Acquired in 2008 from a seller in Michigan, this car was already restored. Senator Baker s friend Dr. Shoichiro Toyoda, son of the founder of Toyota Motor Corporation, greatly admired Senator Baker s Cord and purchased a Cord after he saw this beautiful automobile. LOT #6: 1951 Hudson Hornet Convertible There was an active Hudson Dealer in Helenwood, TN, just 5 miles from Senator Baker s boyhood home. Senator Baker, along with many racing enthusiasts in the area, always admired the Hudson and it was a prized vehicle. The Hudson was restored by Peggy Craft Restorers in 2007.
