8 8Technical Engineering / Technical Information (Continue) Non-Stanar Diameters In situations where the measure shaft iameter oes not match any stanar CIMAX ocking Assembly, perhaps as a result of amage or excessive wear, a simple aaptor sleeve can be fabricate to effectively shim the existing shaft to a stanar nominal iameter. These aaptor sleeves can be slit lengthwise or left soli, with slit sleeves allowing more relaxe machining tolerances. Wall thickness shoul not excee 12.5% of measure shaft iameter. Recommene machining tolerances are as follows: +0 / -.002" on the sleeve OD; -0 / +.001".002" on the bore of a soli sleeve; -0 / +.002".004" on the bore of a slit sleeve. For slit aaptor sleeves rate torque capacities for these connections is taken irectly from the CIMAX ocking Assembly selecte, provie the aaptor sleeve/shaft interface is clean an ry (for a coefficient of friction equal to.15) an the aaptor wall thickness is within prescribe limits. 9 Engineering / Technical Information (Continue) Applications Using CIMAX Shrink Discs The component hub wall thickness for Shrink Disc applications is nominally the ifference between the Shrink Disc ID an the shaft iameter. As we o not wish for the use of our proucts to weaken the rive system, our specifications limit the size of the shaft iameter recommene for use with each Shrink Disc to a size which results in a component hub that is at least as strong, both in bening an in torsion, as the unerlying shaft. Technical In general, component hub material with a minimum tensile yiel point of 45ksi is recommene. Cast iron component hubs are acceptable, but we recommen selecting the next larger size Shrink Disc for these applications. To eliminate possible fretting corrosion an associate complications, when machining a hub for use uner a Shrink Disc, it is recommene that the fit length be limite to the Shrink Disc inner ring length ( from the specification tables), with the remaining TB relieve using a non-tolerance clearance. C600 Keyless Rigi Coupling Engineering Information Our C600 Series Keyless Rigi Coupling is esigne to simultaneously transmit the combine torque an reversing bening common to shaft-mounte rive applications. Proper coupling selection is achieve through the following proceure: Ientify nominal iameters of shafts to be joine (note that unequal shaft iameters up to a size ratio of approximately 2:1 can be accommoate).
