2 Understanding our Edexcel International A and A level grade boundaries This document shos the grade boundaries for our modular Edexcel International A and A level qualifications. For each set of grade boundaries, the maximum number of available marks is also shon. For individual units, maximum marks and boundaries are shon for both the ra and uniform (U) mark scales. Maximum marks and grade boundaries for the overall qualification (the cash-in ) are only shon in U marks. International A units and overall qualifications (cash-ins) are graded A to E. International A2 units are graded A to E but e publish the theoretical A* boundary. Overall International A level qualifications (cash-ins) are graded A* to E. Where grade boundaries are greyed out for a particular unit, there are no grade boundaries available. This may be because: the unit as not available in this exam session no-one took the unit in this exam session Definition of terms A grade boundary is the minimum mark at hich a letter grade can be achieved. For example, if the grade boundary for a B is 60 marks, then 60 is the minimum mark at hich a B can be achieved. A mark of 59 ould therefore be a C grade. For modular qualifications, assessments can be taken in various exam sessions throughout the duration of the course. For linear qualifications, all assessments must be taken in the same exam session. A ra mark is the actual mark aarded by the teacher or examiner for an assessment. Ra mark scores can be donloaded by Exams Officers from Edexcel Online. Ra marks are converted to U marks for all modular qualifications. This is because ra mark grade boundaries may change from exam session to exam session to take into account variations in the difficulty of assessments.
