Stage 3: Prototyping Prototype wheels are produced and thoroughly static tested (including X-raying) for dimensions, material faults, leaks, imbalance and impact resistance. Stage 4: Road testing The vehicle durability test on the Ford Proving Ground of each alloy wheel represents 240,000 km of driving in a variety of real driving situations and extreme conditions. From initial development to the end of vehicle durability testing takes up to four months for each wheel design. Stage 5: Durability and strength testing In addition, Ford alloy wheels are subjected to a severe biaxial durability laboratory test, on a machine newly developed specially for this purpose. Simulating real driving conditions, the test equates to 300,000 km of driving, with the wheel pre-damaged to represent extreme events such as driving over kerbs. Different speeds, loads and extreme rough road manoeuvres and cornering are all reproduced with the test, and at least three wheels per wheel design must pass the test before the design is approved for manufacture. There are a large number of children s car seats for various age groups which fulfil these requirements. However, even the best child seats offer no protection if they are not fitted correctly or used properly. Although many child seats are secured in similar ways, every seat has its own particular belt fastening system. Therefore, it is vital to listen to the advice of specialist staff when buying a child seat, and equally important to read the operating instructions. If you have a very young child, you need to be aware that all baby seats from Group 0+ (babies up to 13 kg) utilise rear-facing systems, i. e. the seat must be fitted so the child is facing backwards. ISOFIX systems are relatively simple to install. These systems require the child safety seat to be securely fastened to an anchoring system, which is fitted to the bodywork of the car.
