4 B E D R O O M A hallmark of great design is the ability to combine seemingly unrelated attributes in such a way that they inspire a style of their own. In developing Cimarron, our designers combined bold and dramatic scaling with soft pleasing shapes and traditional English details to create an exceptional new look. The Caledonia Bed, with its raised panels and graceful curved headboard and footboard, is evidence that grand scale and elegant design are not mutually exclusive. The rich saddle-stitched leather on the seat of the Woodbury Bench brings another natural element into the room, while turned legs and nailhead trim offer visual interest to catch your eye. Designed into the upper deck of the Montrose Entertainment Hutch are two hidden compartments behind what appear to be stationary end panels just below the crown. 32 HOME OFFICE The home office was formerly relegated to an area inappropriately carved out of the bedroom or living room. Today, it has taken on a marquis role in the interior design of most residences, offering us a compelling reason to design signature items like the stately ninety-nine inch wide Sheridan Library. With an offering that includes both large and small configurations to accommodate any space, Cimarron offers you the ability to design a custom work area that is both show-stopping and practical. THE RESOLUTE DESK The Resolute Desk is a nineteenth-century partners desk that is currently in the White House Oval Office. It was a gift of friendship from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B.

An identical twin of the desk, made with timbers from the same ship, resided for many years in the Chambers of Her Majesty in Buckingham Palace. It currently resides in Windsor Castle.

President Bill Clinton brought the desk back to the Oval Office where it continues to be used by President Obama. During President Franklin D.

33 THE RESOLUTE DESK The Resolute Desk is a nineteenth-century partners desk that is currently in the White House Oval Office. It was a gift of friendship from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in The desk was built from the timbers of the British ship the HMS Resolute. An identical twin of the desk, made with timbers from the same ship, resided for many years in the Chambers of Her Majesty in Buckingham Palace. It currently resides in Windsor Castle. President John F. Kennedy was the first to place the desk in the Oval Office in President George H.W. Bush elected to use the desk in his private study. President Bill Clinton brought the desk back to the Oval Office where it continues to be used by President Obama. During President Franklin D. Roosevelt s administration, the desk was modified to include a hinged front panel whose purpose was to hide the President s wheelchair from view. One of the iconic images of the John F. Kennedy presidency was the photo of JFK Jr. peeking out of the hinged door while his father was working at the desk.
