Conceived utilising high design ideals, Exurbia delivers balanced accent illumination and heightened aesthetics to high specification interiors. Its simplicity and compact nature complements luxurious environments including high end retail, exclusive hospitality and private residences. Key to the flexibility of the range is its modular construction concept, providing a consistent aesthetic whilst delivering extensive options for shape, size, luminous output, light distribution and mounting method. At the heart of the engineering design is the light engine comprising black anodised heatsink for maximum thermal dissipation and the high efficiency COB light source. Lens optics have been chosen for their shallow profile and excellent optical control. The Micro range runs at only six watts, while the larger Mini range has variants of seven to 19 watts with the Maxi range from 13 to 36 watts. 3

32 LIGHT QUALITY TM30-15 INTRODUCTION All the light sources used in the Exurbia range, except Dim2Warm, are manufactured by Citizen Electronics the world leader in high quality Chip On Board (COB) LEDs arrays. TM is a new method of evaluating light source colour rendition published by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) in The CIE 1995 method for measuring CRI Ra relies on just 8 colour samples contributing to the Ra value. TM30-15 uses 99 new colour evaluation samples (CES) to measure colour fidelity Rf with an additional measure Rg for gamut area. Ra = Evaluation Using 8 Colours Rf = Evaluation Using 99 Colours TM describes a method for evaluating light source colour rendition, quantifying the fidelity (closeness to a reference) through a Fidelity Index (Rf) and gamut (increase or decrease in chroma/ colour saturation) through a Gamut Index (Rg) of a light source. The method also generates a colour vector graphic that indicates average hue and chroma shifts, which helps with interpreting the values of Rf and Rg. An Rf value of 100 means that the test sources renders the colour samples in exactly the same way as the reference source usually tungsten and therefore is very close to natural daylight. The colour Gamut index (Rg), represents the average saturation shift of the source compared to the reference illuminant. Values greater than 100 can be visualised as an increase in average saturation, whereas values less than 100 represent a decrease. 32

The reference illuminant is represented by the black circle; deviation outside of this region shows an increase in saturation for the given colour, whereas a shift within, shows saturation decrease for the given hue. The more the light source is dimmed, the warmer the CCT becomes. We have chosen a simple range: 100% at 2700 K and at 5% dimming level we achieve 1800 K. See adjacent CCT vs dimming range.
