3 Page No INTRODUCTION 1.1 Scope This report documents the test procedures followed and the results obtained during Vibration Testing performed on one RC/R63 (600)(700) Two-Bay Rack for Optima EPS. The CT Rack Assembly was received at Wyle Laboratories on April 13, The receiving inspection revealed the Rack to be in good condition. Testing was performed at Wyle Laboratories Huntsville, Alabama, Test Facility from April 18 through April 20, References Optima EPS Purchase Order No Wyle Laboratories Quotation No. 542/041059/DB Wyle Laboratories Quality Assurance Program Manual, Revision 2 MIL-STD-810F, Environmental Test Methods and Engineering Guidelines MIL-STD-45662A, Calibration System Requirements ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, Calibration Laboratories and Measuring and Test Equipment, General Requirements ISO , Quality Assurance Requirements for Measuring Equipment 1.3 Test Specimen Description The Rack tested was identified as a Part Number /1 and RC/R63 (600) (700) Two-Bay Rack Assembly. The Rack was attached to the Wyle interface fixture via isolators mounted to the bottom and the back/top of the Rack. At the direction of the Optima EPS Representative, the isolators and shelves supplied with the Rack were not considered part of the Rack Assembly that was qualified by this test. At the direction of the Optima EPS Representative, the individual shelves were loaded with steel weights in order to simulate actual assembly loading. The location and individual shelf weight distributions are defined in Figures 1 and 2 of this report. 1.4 Summary The CT Rack Assembly was successfully subjected to a Vibration Test Program in accordance with MIL-STD-810F and references presented in Paragraph 1.2, above. The test results contained herein apply only to the specimen identified in this report.
4 Page No TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS 2.1 Vibration Test The CT Rack Assembly was subjected to a Random Vibration Test for 60 minutes in each of the three mutually perpendicular axes. The attachment between the Rack Assembly and the Wyle interface fixture was through the Optima EPS-supplied isolation mounts. These mounts were located on the bottom of the Rack Assembly at five locations and on the back top of the Rack Assembly at two locations. Each bay of the Rack Assembly was supplied to Wyle with seven individual shelves located in each bay. Figures 1 and 2 of this report identify the individual shelf weight as loaded on each shelf. The Vibration Testing was performed on an Electrodynamic Exciter in accordance with MIL-STD-810F and references presented in Paragraph 1.2, above. Table I identifies spectrum modifications requested by Optima EPS prior to test. These modifications reduced the overall amplitude displacement in order for all Vibration Testing to be performed on one exciter. Table I. Amplitude Displacement Axis Frequency (Hz) Original Amplitude Modified Amplitude Vertical Transverse Longitudinal Two vibration control accelerometers were mounted on the opposite diagonal corners at the interface of the Rack Assembly and the Wyle-supplied interface test fixture. A total of three response accelerometers were mounted to the Rack Assembly as shown in Table II, below. Table II. 7 Page No TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS (Continued) 2.1 Vibration Test (Continued) The Vibration Data Sheets and Data Plots included in Attachment B present the type and sequence of the Vibration Testing. After completion of Vibration Testing in each axis, Wyle Laboratories personnel performed visual inspections. During the inspection after completion of the first (Vertical) axis the lower shelf inside Rack 2 had broken loose from its mounting at all four corners. Also noted was fatigue to the bottom left back isolation mount. After completion of the third (Longitudinal) axis, the same bottom-left back isolation mount exhibited fraying and breakage. According to the Optima EPS Representative, neither of these two findings constitutes an anomaly or failure as a result of test since they are not considered by Optima EPS as part of the item to be qualified by this series of tests. When the test was completed the Rack Assembly was returned to Optima EPS, Tucker, Georgia, for evaluation. Photographs of the vibration test setup are presented in Attachment A. The Instrumentation Equipment Sheet for this test setup is presented in Attachment C. 3.0 TEST EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION All instrumentation, measuring, and test equipment used in the performance of this test program were calibrated in accordance with Wyle Laboratories' Quality Assurance Program, which complies with the requirements of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, ISO , and Military Specification MIL-STD-45662A. Standards used in performing all calibrations are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) by report number and date. When no national standards exist, the standards are traceable to international standards or the basis for calibration is otherwise documented. 4.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM All work performed on this test program was completed in accordance with Wyle Laboratories Quality Assurance Program. The Wyle Laboratories,, Quality Management System is registered in compliance with the ISO-9001:2000 International Quality Standard. Registration has been completed by Quality Management Institute (QMI), a Division of Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Wyle Laboratories is accredited (Certificate No.: ) by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and the results shown in this test report have been determined in accordance with Wyle's scope of accreditation unless otherwise stated in this report.
