Join us for a "Corvair Expo" where LeMay--America's Car Museum will be the center of convention events as well as displays and activities celebrating the Corvair. Host hotel is Hotel Murano in Tacoma, 888/ , mention "Corvairs" or "CORSA" for special $109 room rate. August 15-16, 2014 Choo Choo Corvair Classic, hosted by Choo Choo Corvair Club. Host hotel is Chattanooga Choo Choo, 1400 Market Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402, phone Ask for the Corvair rate of $99 per night. They will need a credit card but won t charge until you get there. You can cancel as late as 6:00 on the scheduled day of arrival. See pages 6 and 7 for more information. September 20, 2014 Joint picnic with Corvair Atlanta at Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, GA. From Atlanta: I-75 south to exit 205, turn left, 10 miles to Jackson. Take Hwy 42 south, 5 miles to the park. From Macon: I-75 north to exit 188, turn left, 15 miles to the park. Enter the park at the gate located at the bottom of the hill. Follow this road around to the stop sign, and turn right. Go about 1/4 mile and turn left on swimming area road. We are at shed # 5, on the left. There is a fee to enter the park, $5.00. THE SWAP SHOP FOR SALE: 1964 Spyder convertible. Turbo has been taken out and auto transmission put in. Still have Turbo and all parts. Four new tires. Manual top. No dents. Glass good. Interior excellent. Have repaired some rust spots. Will sell for what I paid for it, $3000. Also have a ramp for sale, $800. New ignition system, new carbs, new A/C compressor (installed, but not completely hooked to system). Good black interior seats, original tube radio works, almost new tires, good paint (Candy Apple) with just a few spots of surface rust under paint. In addition I have what I believe to be a complete engine for a 1960 Corvair, new pistons, cylinders, bearings, just is not put together, along with a transmission. I also have a complete engine for a 1963 (ran when pulled out). It has a new torque converter, new starter. Distributor is off of engine as well as carbs. 4 MAY MEETING MINUTES - HEIDI CLAMP Lillian opened the meeting this month, those in attendance were Lillian and James Law with special guest appearance by Pat Taylor, Paula and Al Hilderbrand, Tommy and Joan Couch, Heidi and David Clamp, Janet and Tye Howard, Larry and Sue Axtell, Tim Vossler, Wendy and Billy Price, Billy and Eleanor Bruce, Chuck Wofford, David and Penny Miller and their son Allen. Fall Joint Picnic Heart of Georgia Corvairs and Atlanta Corvairs car clubs will be holding a joint picnic and swap meet on September 20, 2014 in Indian Springs. The clubs will pick up bbq and everyone will bring a covered dish and dessert and drinks. More details will be coming at a later date. Concourse de Elegance We need to make commitments and begin registration for the Concourse de Elegance which will be held on November 1-2, Only 10 cars are allowed for the Jamboree, 1 car for Midway, and 1 car for Concours. If you have been selected to show your car be sure to provide a very detailed description of your car if you are showing because they will be preparing nameplates to post in front of your car. Cars have already been selected for both the Midway and Concours. Wayne Whitmire will be showcasing his black 1963 Spyder on the midway and Billy Bruce will be showing his red and white 1964 Rampside in Concours. Lillian has checked into hotel rates at the Holiday Inn Express. Their phone number is Rates are good from 10/30 to 11/3. The rates are: 1 King Bed $ Queen Beds $89.95 Anyone that wants to attend the show is most welcome and you will be glad you did. It is a fabulous show and you will leave with your jaw dropped, I promise Vairs at the Fair Vairs at the Fair this year will be hosted on October 3-4, Since the Ramada is under new ownership, we will be renting a large room for Friday night dinner at the Days Inn on Margie Drive in Warner Robins, GA. The Days Inn charges $59 for a guest room. They charge $5 for an extra person in the room. We will hold the Saturday night event at Joe Gleaton's "Robins Airpark" on Airpark Drive off Hwy 96 in Warner Robins and we will have catfish and shrimp for dinner. Christmas Party The Christmas party will be held at Lillian and James' house on December 6th this year. Miscellaneous If you are interested in purchasing some Corvairs, Joan and Tommy Couch are aware of 4 located in Elko, GA. These would be good mostly for parts. Our next meeting will be at Old Times Country Buffett in July 12th.
