22 Mini LWC Trench LWC The Mini is a robust and practical product that is floor mounted, so it can be positioned almost anywhere. Its convector based technology uses air movement to circulate heated air around the room; the aluminium convector allows a small unit to have a high heat output and to be space efficient. These radiators are perfect for placing alongside large areas of glass in conservatories and atriums. With its aluminium convector unit the Trench is a practical alternative to underfloor heating, requiring no wall space and giving excellent heat output. Our range of hand welded and hand finished stainless steel designs can be used as one off statement pieces or throughout the home; in living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories or a study. 20 Year Guarantee Year Guarantee Ortega 32mm stainless steel round tube radiator available in a polished or brushed finish. With a finish often compared to chrome and nickel, stainless steel delivers much greater heat output, about 15%-20% more, as it does not suffer from the loss of output which is an inherent result of the chroming process. These hand produced radiators are made from 304 grade stainless steel which is highly corrosion resistant. As a non ferrous metal, stainless steel will not rust or flake, making it suitable for both direct and indirect systems. Our quality of manufacture and the corrosion resistant properties means we can offer a 20 year guarantee on these stainless steel radiators; provided they are installed according to the fitting instructions provided. Choice Stainless Steel has its own distinctive look; presenting the steel in a brushed natural finish (rather than painted) creates a contemporary industrial style, while maintaining a good heat output. These radiators will be a perfect match for any existing radiators and being new, they come with a ten year guarantee. As a material, cast iron has its own unique properties; these radiators will hold their heat for a long time, compared to a similar steel model, although they are slower to heat up and therefore less responsive to sudden changes in temperature. Cast iron radiators require painting to prevent rust forming over time; traditionally this would be done using oil based paints with a high resistance to heat (at least 100 C) with an appropriate zinc based rust inhibitor used as a primer and suitable oil based undercoats. If carried out by hand this can be a long and difficult process as cast iron is very heavy and the entire surface must be covered for full protection and brushes can leave streak marks in the finish. Using a wet spray system is an alternative option but can result in a finish with drips and is usually carried out off site requiring extra handling and time to complete. 39 Lacquer Finishes To provide a finish that retains the raw character of cast iron we take sections from stock and lightly sandblast them to remove any base primer and some casting marks. We then treat them to a protective gloss lacquer finish for a more industrial style. Valves High quality radiators deserve high quality valves for efficient performance and they influence the whole appearance of your finished radiator. Finishes and Colours; A wide range of standard finishes are available from stock; in addition selected valves can be painted to match radiators ordered from colour group 9; see page 116. Chrome Antique Brass Black Nickel Wheelhead and Lockshield; Radiators require two valves which work together as a pair. The Wheelhead is used to ad ust the ow of water into each radiator and the Lockshield maintains a balanced ow of water around the whole system, ensuring each radiator receives the correct rate of ow in order to heat up; these will be ad usted by your installer when balancing your system. All our valves are priced as pairs. TRV or Manual? Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) monitor the ambient room temperature with a built in thermostat. They usually have between 4 to 6 set levels which you can select and the valve then opens and closes automatically to reach and maintain the desired level. If one room reaches the set temperature the radiator will effectively turn off whilst others continue to operate. TRVs can help maximise the efficiency of your system reducing energy consumption and they are now a requirement as part of building regulations relating to new builds and refurbishments. Manual valves are ad usted by hand; they will allow a constant ow of water through your radiator regardless of the room temperature and radiators will only turn off when the room thermostat (usually in the hall) reaches it s set point or the programmer turns the heating off. All systems may have at least two manual valves included, on a radiator that acts as a bypass for the system usually a towel rail and one in the same area as the room thermostat so they do not con ict with each other. Angled or Straight? The choice of which format of valve to use will depend on the location of your pipe work and the position of the collectors on the radiator. It is important to discuss with your installer the type of pipe work being used to ensure your valves are specified correctly. The most common size of pipe in the UK is 15mm (also known as ½ ); often 22mm (or ¾ ) pipe work is used on large or older systems with cast iron radiators. All our valves have 15mm connections as standard unless otherwise stated; if you need different connections please specify when ordering your valves. Most pipes will be made from copper and all our valves work with this material. On older houses iron pipe work may still exist usually 22mm (¾ ); you will need to specify this to ensure your valve connections are the correct size. Over recent years push fit plastic pipe has become more popular and some plumbers may wish to directly connect the plastic pipe to the valve but our valves are not designed to operate with plastic pipes. In some cases chrome pipe work is used to supply water to the radiator; because chrome is a harder surface than copper or iron most valves will not grip it securely and leaks can occur; special olives are required to enable valves to grip chrome pipe work and these must be specified at time of order, please contact us on if you would like more information. Pipe centres; The location of the pipe work for your radiator will be affected by the size of valves you select. All angled valves have a dimension shown to allow for ad usting pipe work. f you are planning to fix pipe work before receiving your radiators you should make adequate allowances for manufacturing tolerances in pipe centres.
