They were built by Pressed Steel Car Company in November 1936, serviced in July 1964 and run on Bettendorf trucks. These tough drop bottom cars were more versatile than the open hoppers or solid bottom gondolas. They were seen well into the 1970s, even after the NP merger with Burlington Northern. Missouri Pacific Road Number MP This 50 flat car with fishbelly sides and side-mounted brakewheel is painted brown with white lettering. It was built by American Car & Foundry in July 1943, serviced in 1973 and runs on Bettendorf trucks. It was renumbered from MP 8692 under lot The Missouri Pacific is a major Class I railroad and the largest carrier of chemicals in the U.S. It has mainlines extending from Chicago to El Paso and New Orleans to Denver, with junctions at St. Louis, Kansas City and Dallas. Principally used for rebuilding, the raised panel sides featured on this model was originally developed out of a need to provide parts to repair heavily used and rusted hoppers and increase capacity at the same time. It was built by Eastern Car Company of Trenton, Nova Scotia, in March 1957 and serviced in September Charged with the responsibility of keeping all the track, truck, baggage and freight scales on their respective lines in perfect condition, the scale inspector s arrival was often preceded by the appearance of the small scale test car. The scale test cars were always to be hauled just in front of the caboose. Immediately upon arrival at the terminal, they were set aside and subjected to a minimum of switching. Under no circumstances were they to be used in switching other cars in the train. Chesapeake & Ohio Road Number C&O # $14.55 This 50 standard box car with Youngstown door wears two of the experimental paint schemes, each side similar with the colors reversed. The shape used here is a diagonal chevron shape across each side, adorned with the Chessie kitten. Lettering is in yellow and blue. This car, second of six in the Cameo Car Series, was built in May 1956 by Pullman Standard and serviced in May It runs on roller bearing trucks. All of the Cameo Series car designs feature varying widths of yellow striping along with monograms and the recently adopted Futura Demi-Bold font. Five of the six cars received two different schemes per side. These Cameo schemes were intended to promote Chessie s (LCL) less-than-carload service. # $35.65

2 USS Midway Navy Series #11 Road Number CV-41 Burlington Northern Road Numbers BN / USS Midway, an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, the lead ship of her class, was the first to be commissioned after the end of World War II. Active in the Vietnam War and in Operation Desert Storm, as of 2004 she is a museum ship in San Diego, California. She is the only remaining aircraft carrier of the World War II era that is not an Essex-class ship. Her revolutionary hull design was based on what would have been the Montana class battleships and gave her superior maneuverability over all previous carriers. These 50 standard box cars with plug door and no roofwalks are painted yellow with black heralds and lettering. They were built in December 1961, serviced in February 1971, and run on Barber roller bearing trucks. They were built in May 1957 by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors as part of six-loco build #7540 for Minneapolis St. Louis, which was merged into CNW on November 1, CNW 604 and 608 were renumbered in 1972 to 4305 and 4309 respectively. These 70-ton twin bay covered hoppers are painted dark gray with large Union Pacific heralds and black lettering. They were built in September 1957 by Pullman-Standard and serviced in February They run on roller bearing trucks. Typical lading for these cars included cement, sand, potash, soda ash, lime, alumina, fertilizers, dolomite, soap, salt, plastic pellets and flour. Since many of these materials were highly corrosive, the twin bay covered hoppers were designed to withstand the freight s effects and keep maintenance regulations to a minimum.
