4 INTRODUCTION Established in October 1993 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of TNB, TNB Engineering Corporation Sdn Bhd (TNEC) today is one of the most experienced District Cooling Systems (DCS) owner and operator in Malaysia. Having extensive DCS experience spanning more than 2 decades, TNEC provides the full range of services for DCS projects, from the initial concept or business viability study to the investment, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts, project financing, ownership as well as comprehensive operations & maintenance. TNEC also has vast experience in EPC of Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant (LSSPV) with projects capacities amounting to 80MW in domestic environment. This is part of TNEC s aspiration to pursue an active role in supporting Malaysia s renewable energy generation target by leveraging on its competitiveness and strength, in the country and the region.

5 1 THE COMPANY TNEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). TNB is the largest electricity utility company in Malaysia and a leading utility company in Asia. Established in October 1993 TNEC has grown from being an energy related contractor to providing services such as designing, constructing, financing the District Cooling System (DCS) project implementation, ownership and undertaking long term operations & maintenance services in the area of DCS. TNEC is supported by the wide experience and knowledge of the TNB group of companies and the strong bond that TNEC shares with TNB. This very relationship has been the driving force behind TNEC s surge forward in securing projects and fulfilling customer demands. This bond has made TNEC the preferred partner for energy-related projects in Malaysia. 9 SUBSIDIARIES 5 BANGSAR ENERGY SYSTEMS SDN BHD (BES) Bangsar Energy Systems Sdn Bhd (BES) has been established since Currently, BES owns a district cooling plant situated at Bukit Pantai, Kuala Lumpur. The plant has been designed with a maximum cooling capacity output of 12,000 RT. The plant currently supplies the chilled water to the following buildings: TNB HQ Buildings Menara TM Telekom Annex 1 Building Telekom Annex 2 Building Pullman Hotel Plaza Pantai Building BES also operates and maintains 4 other DCS plants with a total cooling capacity output of 14,198 RT which comprises of the following plants: UKM Loop 1 DCS Plant (cooling capacity of 4,875 RT) UKM Loop 2 DCS Plant (cooling capacity of 4,369 RT) IJN DCS Plant (cooling capacity of 2,670 RT) MBSA DCS Plant (cooling capacity of 2,250 RT) A JOINT VENTURE COMPANY AIRPORT COOLING ENERGY SUPPLY SDN BHD (ACES) ACES is a joint-venture company between TNB Engineering Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (77%) (TNEC) and Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (23%) to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain a 18,000 RT District Cooling Plant at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA-2) for a 20 year concession period. The DCS plant supplies chilled water to the following buildings: Main Terminal Building (MTB) Airport Mall and Transportation Hub Landside Hotel 1 Air Asia Building DCA Control Tower

10 6 TNEC BRANCH & ASSOCIATE COMPANY (ABU DHABI) TNEC - ABU DHABI BRANCH TNEC has established its branch office in Abu Dhabi, UAE in January TNEC-Abu Dhabi will further enhance TNEC s presence in Abu Dhabi, and position itself for rapid expansion in the Middle East. The formation of TNEC-Abu Dhabi Branch is part of TNEC s overall business strategy to grow its DCS business outside of Malaysia. ABRAJ COOLING LLC (ABRAJ) - ASSOCIATE COMPANY TNEC and Abraj Cooling LLC (an associate company of TNEC in Abu Dhabi) complement each other in undertaking projects in Abu Dhabi. The first two projects undertaken by Abraj and TNEC-Abu Dhabi Branch have contributed a total of AED200 million in revenue to TNEC.

11 DISTRICT COOLING SYSTEMS 7 TNEC pioneered the implementation of the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) DCS concept with the Pantai District Cooling, Bangsar project. With more than 20 years of DCS experience, TNEC offers a wide range of technology and project implementation options BOO/ Build-Operate - Transfer (BOT) / Engineering - Procurement & Construction (EPC) for potential clients to reduce their air conditioning costs through DCS, with the comfort and assurance of TNEC S long term commitment.

12 8 PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS DISTRICT COOLING SYSTEMS DCP Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2, Sepang, MALAYSIA Type of Development : Airport Type Of Contract : BOT Equity : Airport Cooling Energy Supply Sdn Bhd (ACES) (TNEC-77% & MAHB-23%) Completion Date : April 2013 TNEC through its subsidiary, ACES, had entered into a concession agreement with Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad for the privatization of the development of a 132kV sub-station and a district cooling plant for the supply of chilled water and electricity and associated works at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang, Selangor on a build-operate-transfer model for a concession period of up to 20 years. The plant is capable to provide 18,000 refrigeration ton of chilled water and 90MVA of power consumption for KLIA2 requirements.

13 9 Building Material City District Cooling Plant, Abu Dhabi, UAE Type of Development : Mixed ( Office, Shopping Mall & Hotel ) Type Of Contract : EPC Completion Date : 2013 Abraj Cooling LLC : TNEC (49%), Al-Samah (51%) Building Material City (BMC) Project is a mixed-use integrated project developed by Manazel Real Estate PJSC (Manazel). The development is located in the Musaffah area, just at the outskirt of Abu Dhabi. In order to meet the cooling requirement, a 30,000RT district cooling plant has been built. Abraj had won the contract to construct the plant on a design & build basis. The project scope also includes the design & construction of three energy transfer stations (ETS) for the BMC development.

14 Al Reef Downtown District Cooling Plant, Abu Dhabi, UAE Type of Development : Villa (Residential) Type Of Contract : EPC Completion Date : 2011 Abraj Cooling LLC : TNEC (49%), Al-Samah (51%) 8 10 The Al Reef Project is another property development project being undertaken by Manazel. It is located near the Abu Dhabi Airport. The project has a total development area of approximately 1 million square meters, comprising mainly of 2,500 villas, 1,806 condominiums and retail spaces. A district cooling plant with a capacity of 8,000 RT was built for the Al Reef Downtown area. Abraj has been awarded the contract to construct the plant based on basic design provided by Manazel s Consultant. The district cooling plant comprised of three units of 2,135RT chiller and a 9,270 RT-hour nominal chilled water thermal energy storage (TES) system.

15 DCP UiTM Seremban 3, Negeri Sembilan, MALAYSIA 11 Type of Development : University Type Of Contract : EPC Completion Date : May 2013 UiTM Seremban 3 campus located in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. The DCS / TES supplies the six (6) main buildings of Fakulti Sains Sukan dan Rekreasi (FSSR), Fakulti Sains Komputer dan Matematik (FSKM), Fakulti Sains Pentadbiran dan Pengajian Polisi (FSPPP), library and administration building. Total load for DCS is 2,100 RT with capacity of Ice Cell savings of 6,200 RTH. Four (4) water cooled brine chiller is used with capacity 350RT respectively. TNEC project was done in collaboration with the main contractor, Johawaki and concessionaire Menang Corporation.

16 12 DCP National University Of Malaysia (UKM) Loop 2, Bangi, Selangor, MALAYSIA Type of Development : University Type Of Contract : EPC Completion Date : Aug 2011 National University Of Malaysia (UKM), during the Eighth and Ninth Malaysia Plans has constructed new campuses and facilities within the vicinity of the second loop of its main campus in Bangi, Selangor Darul Ehsan. The development is known as UKM Loop 2. The DCS System was developed to cater for the air conditioning load of the buildings like Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Engineering (additional), Students Complex, Faculty of Technology & Science Information, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Language Teaching and Linguistic Centre, Computer Centre, Kompleks Tun Abdullah Mohd Salleh, Department of Development & Management Office and Printing and Publishing Centre. The total connected loads for these buildings are 4500 RT.

17 DCP UiTM Sg. Buloh, Selangor, MALAYSIA 13 Type of Development : Medical University Type Of Contract : EPCC Completion Date : Dec 2009 Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is Malaysia's largest institution of higher learning in terms of size and population. TNEC was awarded the contract by UiTM to develop a District Cooling Plant for its medical student campus. The project was successfully completed and commissioned and supplying the chilled water. UiTM Faculty Of Medicine, Sg. Buloh, Selangor The concept of the plant is to store ice cell produced by the plant during the off-peak period and utilize the cooling energy during the day, where the peak electricity tariff is applicable.

18 DCP Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Kuala Lumpur,MALAYSIA Type of Development : Hospital Type Of Contract : BOT Completion Date : Dec Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), in expanding their hospital facilities and additional buildings, seek ways to minimize the air-conditioning cost and to interconnect with the existing air-conditioning facility for operation flexibility. TNEC was awarded the contract for design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning and supply of chilled water for twenty (20) years through Build -Operate-Transfer (BOT) Scheme. DCP of Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), Selangor,MALAYSIA Type of Development : Government Type Of Contract : ROM with Financing Completion Date : July 2006 Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), the forward looking City Council has been actively seeking ways to minimize its air conditioning costs. TNB Engineering Corporation (TNEC) offered to finance the replacement of the existing chillers and the installation of an ice Thermal Energy Storage (TES) System. Through its Rehabilitate, Operate and Maintain (ROM) Concept, TNEC also undertakes comprehensive plant operations and maintenance and charges MBSA a monthly bill for cooling energy utilization. The plant has been expanded to form a District Cooling System (DCS) to connect to the Selangor Theatre and Museum. The TNEC ROM solution has helped MBSA reached its cost savings target without any capital investment.

19 DCP of Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuclear Malaysia), Bangi, Selangor,MALAYSIA Type of Development : Government Agency Type Of Contract : EPC Completion Date : Mar Nuclear Malaysia is the national research institute whose core activities are nuclear science and other related technologies. TNEC was awarded the contract for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning for the Air Conditioning Rehabilitation Works (conversion to TES scheme) at Nuclear Malaysia. The storage tank combines the ability to discharge energy at a high rate with low operating cost, achieving an estimated 30% savings on the electricity bill. DCP of National University Of Malaysia (UKM) Loop 1, Bangi, Selangor, MALAYSIA Type of Development : University Type Of Contract : ROM with Financing Completion Date : Oct 2000 Malaysian Nuclear Agency National University Of Malaysia Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia s (UKM) fast growing student population had its electricity consumption and costs spiralling every year. A comprehensive energy audit identified the urgent need for retrofitting work to address increasing maximum demand immediately and long term. TNEC was awarded the contract for the design, engineering, installation, testing & commissioning of a Thermal Energy Storage DCS Scheme and other system rehabilitation works, and thereafter to operate and maintain the system. The TNEC-UKM partnership effort to improve energy management was awarded with the Plaque of Recognition at the 2nd ASEAN Energy Efficient Building Best Practices competition for the Retrofitting Building category in 2001.

20 16 Pantai District Cooling Plant, Bangsar,Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA Type of Development : Mixed (Office, Hotel, Auditorium, Mosque and Retail) Type Of Contract : BOO Completion Date : 1998 The Pantai District Cooling Plant, located in Bangsar was developed by TNEC to provide chilled water for air-conditioning purposes to major buildings in the vicinity of Pantai Baru and Jalan Bangsar areas. This development includes the prestigious Menara TM, TM Annexe, TNB Corporate HQ Complex, Pullman Bangsar hotel and Pantai Plaza commercial developments. Bangsar Energy Systems Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of TNEC, acts as project developer, owner and operator of the plant. It is a success story with the system being able to increase the plant efficiency with a 24% saving operating costs.

22 PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC (SOLAR PV) 18 50MWac Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant, Kuala Langat, SELANGOR This Large Scale Solar (LSS) is the TNEC's first solar project that will commence in full operation around November 2018 and become the country s largest solar farm. It will be generating and transmitting 50MW of electricity to the national grid. 23 19 29MWac Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant, Kuala Muda, KEDAH This Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic (LSSPV) project is a 29MWac photovoltaic power generating facility developed by Leader Solar Energy Sdn Bhd with TNEC-ERS JV as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPCC) contractor.
