3 1 INTRODUCTION TO READYMIX 1.1 BACKGROUND Readymix is a second generation Australian owned family business, owned and managed by Nick and Jonathan Cocks. Over the years, Readymix has expanded its operations in South East Asia, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Vietnam. Currently, Readymix headquarter is based in Singapore under Readymix Holdings International Pte. Ltd. Readymix was founded by Ian Cocks in Adelaide, Australia in 1962 with just one batching plant and four trucks. In 1982, Ian established Sun Mix Concrete Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia, JV with Sungei Way Group. A year later, Ian became the pioneer for readymixed concrete in Brunei with the setup of a batching plant in Bandar Seri Begawan. In 1990, Ian decided to focus on his overseas operation hence the Australia operation was sold to Adelaide Brighton Cement, Australia s largest cement producer. Readymix tenure in Indonesia starts in 1992 with operation in East Java and exit the business 2008 when Holcim bought over the operation. In 1993, Readymix opened its first batch plant in Hanoi, Vietnam. 1.2 READYMIX CONCRETE (B) SDN BHD. Dedicated to customer satisfaction, quality and a fast, direct service, Readymix Concrete (B) Sdn. Bhd. has a wealth of over 30 years proven experience manufacturing and delivering readymixed concrete, precast concrete piles and quarry products in Brunei. Readymix was established in 1983 and had since set many milestones for the sultanate. Readymix is the first readymixed concrete manufacturer to achieved ISO 9001 in 1994 for the supply, delivery and testing of readymixed concrete. A fully equipped testing laboratory; accredited by ABCi is also available to serve our clients. The lab is supported by a qualified Technical Manager and 8 technicians. Currently Readymix operates four (4) dry type plants servicing the Brunei market; namely at Sungai Akar, Tanjung Bunut, Telisai and Anduki. An on-site plant is currently being erected for the development of 1,000 units of houses under the Kampung Lugu National Housing. Readymix is also ready to mobilize its reserved plants (1 dry and 3 wet batching plants) upon notification by the customer. Readymix also boosted Brunei readymixed concrete largest fleet of 50 mixer trucks, 4 bulk cement tankers and 2 tipper trailers. All Readymix trucks can be tracked via our GPS vehicle tracking system to serve our customer s requirement more effectively. Our drivers are well trained with some qualified to serve the stringent Oil & Gas segment. 5 2 READYMIX STAFF All Readymix Staff on-site will be experienced in on-site operations and will be familiar with standard procedures on professional construction sites run by international contractors. Additional temporary personnel (from our Group on-site division) will also be used during mobilization and demobilization of any on-site requirement. 7 3 READYMIX POLICIES 3.1 QUALITY POLICY Readymix aims to the leading supplier of concrete and concrete materials in its market by delivering quality products at competitive prices with professional service. Quality is fundamental to this aim and is a guiding principal in everything we do: QUALITY IS OUR STRENGTH. At Readymix, our objective is to maintain our customer s trust by delivering the best quality products which meet their expectations and set us apart in the market. We will also deliver the best possible service experience to our customers by exceeding their expectations and keeping our promises. We achieve his through our exceptional people, excellent equipments, use of only the very best raw materials and robust systems that are continuously improved. 3.2 OH&S AT SITES Readymix considers the health and safety of its employees to be of primary importance. Readymix accepts the challenges of its operating environment and believes that the creation of a responsible health and safety culture in all its operations is integral to long term success. To implement the OH&S policies, Readymix has established a Safety Committee, made up of employees covering all activities of the Company (quality control, drivers, plant operators, administration and management). Monthly safety meetings and safety audits are carried out to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries. The Company maintains a records and investigates all Lost-Time-Injuries (LTI). Preventive action and control measures are reviewed through constant monitoring and discussions. It is proposed for major project that Readymix and the Customer will establish a Safety Commitee comprising of 6-8 team members under the leadership of Readymix. A weekly meeting will be carried out at the Batching Plant site and minutes will be provided to the managment of Readymix and the customer. Readymix is in the process of developing a comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) with the objective of formally incorporating Health and Safety into the Company and obtaining ISO accreditation. 3.3 ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY As a leading supplier of concrete and concrete raw materials, Readymix understands that our business activities and products do have an environmental impact what we seek for is for this impact to be positive. Our philosophy is that our business activities and products should have a NET POSITIVE EFFECT on our environment. Our commitment to the responsible management of our environment and the prevention of pollution is underpinned by this philosophy which is integral to the success of our business.
