In this issue we highlight the activities organised by and/or involving PAM Sabah Chapter from the months of March until June As you will see, we had a busy 4 months. ArchiTEXT is a bimonthly publication and expect to receive it by every 2 months. Max Bisoni Editor 03/2015 PRODUCT PRESENTATION CUM FACTORY VISIT TO SABAH WIREMESH & FENCING SDN BHD 14 MAR 2015 Saturday, 14 March 2015, 9:00 am - Product presentation cum factory visit to Sabah Wiremesh & Fencing Sdn Bhd at Tuaran Road, Kota Kinabalu. Mr. Vincent Loke of PT Broco Aerated Concrete Industry, Singapore explained the technical characteristics of AAC as a specialised masonry material. Mr. Hor KP, the site technical consultant, demonstrated the practical aspects of the application and installation of AAC wall system for participants to view on site. The factory visit was attended by 20 members.

2 PRODUCT PRESENTATION BY KANSAI PAINT SDN BHD 21 MAR /2015 Saturday, 21 March 2015, 9:00 am - Hi Spec Marketing Sdn Bhd, the main distributor for Kansai Paint conducted a product presentation at PAM Centre. Mr. David Chong, the National Sales Manager, gave hands on experience in handling and painting machineries. Encik Roslan Samsuri, the Project Sales manager, shared his experience on color schemes, product warranty, paint problems and remedies. The presentation was attended by 30 members. PRODUCT PRESENTATION CUM FACTORY VISIT TO GLIMEX CORPORATION SDN BHD 28 MAR 2015 Saturday, 28 March 2015, 9:00 am - Product presentation cum factory visit to Glimex Industries Sdn Bhd s Factory. The Topics / Speakers were : 1. Laminated Safety Glass - Mr. Ray Nakada (Kuraray Asia Pacific Ptl Ltd) 2. Silkscreen Glass - Mr. Gan Pay Yap (Glimex Marketing Pte Ltd) 3. What s new Glass - Mr. Gary Lee (Singapore Safety Glass Pte Ltd) The factory visit was attended by 50 members.

3 PAM SABAH CHAPTER AGM, ELECTION AND RESULTS APR /2015 Saturday, 11 April 2015, 9:00 am - The PAM Sabah Election 2015 was successfully held and all nominated candidates were elected in. The meeting was attended by 32 members. 2 vacant posts for ordinary Chapter Committee members which were subsequently filled through nomination at the First Chapter Committee meeting. 4 PRODUCT PRESENTATION BY NORTH BRIDGE ENGINEERING SDN BHD 18 APR /2015 Saturday, 18 April 2015, 9:00 am - North Bridge Engineering Sdn Bhd is the main distributor of wire mesh fencing for Sabah and they invited Encik Mohd Siddiq Bin Yaacob, the Assistant Manager of Plytec Fencing System Industries Sdn Bhd, to talk about wire mesh fencing in general and it s specific charterisitics. He also showed the difference in mesh value and quality. IPEX AND IDEAL HOMES SHOW 7-10 MAY /2015 Thursday to Sunday, 7-10 May IPEX 2015 was held at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall and officiated by the Guest of Honour, YB Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, the Director-General of Kota Kinabalu City Hall.

5 IPEX AND IDEAL HOMES SHOW 7-10 MAY /2015 IPEX theme this year is Sustainable Living and included the Copenhagen Solutions exhibition, which features solutions to making cities greener and more livable, curtesy of Denmark Embassy. Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, was awarded the European Green Capital in 2014 and the exhibition was aimed at inspiring urban planners, architects and city authorities by showing contemporary perspectives of Green technology and lifestyle.

6 PRODUCT TALK BY FLEXI TECH SYSTEM SDN BHD 16 MAY /2015 Saturday, 16 May 2015, 9:00 am - Flexi Tech, the main distributor for Eubiq, Bachmann, Omniyo and Hyprex brands gave a product presentation at PAM Centre. The presentation was attended by 42 members. CPD SEMINAR: DESIGNING FOR FIRE SAFETY: REVISION TO THE UNIFORM BUILDING BY LAWS 23 MAY 2015 Saturday, 23 May 2015, 9:00 am - This CPD seminar was held at PAM Centre and sponsored by Nippon Paint Sdn Bhd. A slide show of Nippon Paint products was shown the seminar titled Designing for Fire Safety: Revision to the Uniform Building By Laws was given by Ar. Chong Lee Siong. The presentation was attended by 72 members. LAM PART 3 ORAL EXAMINATION 25 MAY 2015 Monday, 25 May 2015, 9:00 am - 4 No. candidates sat for the LAM Part 3 Oral Examination at the Mini Auditorium of PAM Chapter.

7 PAM SABAH CHAPTER 40 TH RUBY ANNIVERSARY DINNER 5 JUNE /2015 Friday, 5 June 2015, 7:00 pm PAM Sabah Chapter 40 th Ruby Anniversary Dinner was held at the Pacific Sutera Hotel Grand Ballroom, Kota Kinabalu. This year s annual dinner theme is T for Tectonic and the theme colour was red. The Guest of Honour was PAM President Ar. Mohd Zulhemlee An. The main event was the installation of the newly elected Sabah Chapter Chairman, Ar. Jebb Liew Kim Kiong and introduction of the new Chapter Committee members. The event was emceed by Ms. May Salitah Kiob and entertainment provided by local song bird Ms. Esther Appolonius and young Magician Raven. The evening ended with announcement of the best dressed male/female and lucky draw winners. This was also the day of the tragic Sabah Earthquake which struck Ranau at 7:15 am.

9 MEET THE PAM PRESIDENT AND COUNCIL MEMBERS 6 JUNE /2015 Saturday, 6 June 2015, 9:00 am Meet The President and Council members was held at PAM Centre to give an opportunity for the members to discuss and exchange ideas pertaining to the well-being of the institute as well as the future outlook of the industry. The talk was attended by 20 members. Issues discussed include: 1. Proposed amendments to the Minimum Scale of Fees. 2. Proposal to include Sabah & Sarawak reps in LAM board. 3. Foreign Architects in Malaysia. 4. Low passing rate for Part 3 examination. 5. LAM as stake holder in Fee Collection for housing projects 6. Letter of Release for D&B Contracts 7. Recognition of Architectural Program overseas by LAM. PAM / SUPEREADY CONCRETE SDN BHD FELLOWSHIP GOLF 2015/ JUNE 2015 Wednesday, 10 June 2015, 9:00 am PAM / Supeready Concrete Sdn Bhd Fellowship Golf 2015/2016 organised it s first leg at the Sabah Golf & Country Club. There PAM Sabah Chapter members category was won by Ar. Chin Yin Tet and Invitees (engineers, surveyors, suppliers, developers and contractors) category was won by Mr. Paul Yee.
