2 Electronic housing s Phoenix Contact component housings make the assembled PCB a shock and dust-proof electronics module. They are installed quickly and reliably on a common 35 mm DIN rail. Apart from a few exceptions, the connecting terminal blocks can be fitted and machine-soldered during PCB assembly. Panel mounting bases and mounting plates The panel mounting bases consist of modularly assembled components forming a rail-mountable chassis to accommodate a PCB. The surface of the printed circuit board is freely accessible, particularly suitable for large operating elements or large connectors. If a device cannot be installed on the standard DIN rail directly, mounting plates by Phoenix Contact are available for adaptation. Customer-specific solutions Tailor-made housings with customized connection methods, whether with screw, spring-cage or fast connection are not a problem for Phoenix Contact. 5 EMG system component housings EMG is a complete range of component housings used for economic design of industrial electronic components to suit control cabinet requirements. Both small interface circuits and complete control units can be installed in these housings. EMG...H 5 mm EMG...H 15 mm EMG...H 7.5 mm EMG-GKS EMG...-LG EMG...ZE MKDS... The features of the EMG housings are: P1-EMG A uniform and well-designed housing technology Space-saving accommodation of electronic components in finely graded module versions available in a pitch of 10 to 150 mm Practical and easy-to-wire conductor connections Insulating material with the V0 inflammability class (in accordance with UL 94) High degree of flexibility due to the wide choice of versions Convenient and reliable mounting on DIN rails in accordance with EN Shock and dirt-proof accommodation of electronic components Choice among four cover sizes in transparent or colored design Universal PCBs for all pitches Construction principle The picture on the upper right shows the principle of EMG construction: the assembled PCB is inserted into the upper section of the housing and then reliably engaged with the housing base. Accommodating the electronic components The fine grading of types allows the housings to be adapted optimally to the required PCB surface and to the required number of connection positions. The PCB is rectangular. The special feature: all electronic components and PCB terminal blocks can be mounted ready for production and machine-soldered in one operation! To create modules that are narrow and yet have comprehensive electronic components, one or more vertically positioned PCBs can be mounted perpendicular to the motherboard via suitable connection elements. 6 Four hood heights The transparent or opaque green hoods are supplied to protect the internal electronic components from shock and dirt. The hood is simply snapped on and can be removed again at any time. The front has openings for the installation of indicator or actuation elements, and the surface can be printed with a circuit diagram. The hoods can be delivered with front cutouts or labels. Special keying adaptation ensures that hoods can be mounted only according to the circuit. A choice can be made between four cover heights, permitting an optimum match between the height and the space requirement for the electronics modules. The 7.5 mm, 15 mm and 35 mm high hoods are transparent, whereas the 5 mm high hood is opaque and green in color. The high hoods are provided with guide slots to accommodate the vertically positioned secondary PCBs. The EMG housings of 17 mm, 5 mm and 75 mm design widths can also be supplied as a closed version (EMG...-LG/G) on request. Conductor connections The standard EMG...LG versions are designed for sturdy.5 mm screw connections on both sides in the form of MKDS 3 PCB terminal blocks with a 5 mm pitch. Terminal points that are not assigned can be closed with the EMG-KA terminal block/screw cover. Some EMG housings are also available in the following versions: EMG...LG 7,5 for PCB terminal blocks with a 7.5 mm pitch EMG...LG/O with open terminal space for free assembly, can be either equipped with.8 x 0.8 mm slip-on connections or with PCB terminal block or COMBICON connections with vertical plug-in direction (MSTBV,5/...-G) EMG...LG/MSTB for a lateral COMBICON connection (plug-in direction parallel to the PCB) Intermediate elements The EMG...ZE intermediate elements are available for pitches 5, 45 and 90. EMG...LG consist of an upper and a lower part Articles ending in SET are supplied as upper and lower housing parts in the standard version, including the relevant PCB terminal blocks Ready-mounted custom circuit modules with PCB and solder tags, which are fitted on MKDS 3/... connection terminal blocks, are available as EMG...B... These custom circuit modules are the answer if you want to make a professional job of integrating components such as damping diodes, varistors or capacitors in the control cabinet Mounting: All housings are aligned in rows on the symmetrical DIN rail in accordance with EN by simply snap locking them into place. They are removed by pulling back the base latch. Modules of up to a design width of.5 mm are also supplied with a universal foot, thus making them suitable for all DIN rails commonly available in the market. The front plate insert can be processed and printed cost-effectively. Two PCBs with components on both sides can be integrated into the EFG 45 housing. A distance of 4.0 mm is available between the PCB and the inner side of the housing in order to be able to use PCBs equipped with SMD on both sides as well. Complex functions can be implemented on a PCB surface of 11 x 115 mm. Electronics assembly in the housing is significantly simplified by the half shell design and the front plate insert. The PCBs and the housing are screwed into place. This makes them highly stable. The BC... electronic housings were designed for these future-oriented applications in building automation. In addition to the new, modern design of this housing range, its numerous other features are particularly impressive. The housing complies with DIN 43880, thus guaranteeing problem-free use in all common installation distributor boxes. The use of a 16-pos. HBUS DIN rail bus connector enables automatic contacting from device to device. The cross connector allows power supply, parallel through-contacting as well as serial processing of signals via the PCB. Translatory plugging and unplugging of individual devices is possible without breaking up the group of modules. Mounting the upper part of the housing takes just a flick of a wrist. It is simply plugged on the PCB until it snaps safely with the connection method. This preassembled upper part must now be snapped on the lower housing part. The steps for mounting ME housings are thus reduced to the absolute minimum. In addition, there are advantages in handling the housing for maintenance or repair work. The module, i.e. upper part of the housing and the PCB, can be easily removed and replaced without using tools. 38 Connection systems In order to give you maximum flexibility when wiring, there is a choice between PCB terminal blocks or fine strand connectors of up to.5 mm with different pitches. If all positions are not occupied, blind covers are available for all types. The plugs can be keyed by pushing in the keying profiles CP-MSTB. Keying sections CR-MSTB are used on the header. This type of keying enables a connector to be made unmistakable without loss of positions, thus guaranteeing a high degree of safety. Integrated bus connectors The bus connector integrated in the floor of the ME housing is one piece. The conductive path contact points on the PCB make direct contact with the gold-plated contact forks of the cross connector when the electronics module is inserted. A functional earth contact integrated into the floor of the housing connects the inserted PCB directly to the grounded DIN rail. Modular design By aligning the ME 35 UTM... or ME 45 UTM... intermediate elements, it is possible to extend the width of the housing with a 17.5 mm or.5 mm pitch as required. Unlocking The ME housing can be easily opened by applying a specific pressure on the unlocking unit with the help of a screwdriver, for example. You can now remove the upper part of the housing including the PCB, e.g. for configuration purposes. Partial removal The ME LPZS stop prevents the PCB from being removed completely and locks it into place at the same time after approximately 4 cm. This means that the modules can be configured easily and quickly. The PCB guide, which guarantees a defined distance from the housing wall, also allows SMD-assembled PCBs on both sides. The 5 or 10-pos. cross connectors integrated into the floor of the housing facilitate the economical creation of modules, in which bus connections are established automatically and safely by interlatching and without parallel wiring. The parallel connectors with a 3.81 pitch are suitable for the transmission of bus and control signals as well as for ground and power supply (15 V, 8 A). ME MAX F ME MAX... modular component housings Despite their compact dimensions, the ME MAX housings offer plenty of space for individual electronic components. Housing widths of 17.5 mm,.5 mm, 35 mm and 45 mm can be supplied. It is possible to extend the width of the housings in a modular way using intermediate elements. Signal and supply voltages can be looped through conveniently and inexpensively by combining with the ME 17,5 or ME,5 TBUS 1,5/5-ST-3,81 DIN rail bus connectors. The bus connector is positioned in the DIN rail and plugged together to contact the communication and power signals in parallel with one another. The housing is mounted on the DIN rail by swinging it in the usual way. In this way, the housing is positioned mechanically using the DIN rail connector. This concept allows complete individual devices to be removed from the group without interrupting the contact chain. ME MAX SF - Mounting principle After the soldering process for the electronic components, during which the connection elements are also assembled, the complete unit is installed in the slim half shell of the housing. The second housing half shell is now snapped on. Next, the metal base latch is mounted, the pressure spring inserted and the front plate snapped on. As a finishing touch, the hinged transparent cover is snapped at a slight angle into the cylindrical grooves from the inside and that's it. A functional earth ground contact can be provided for better electromagnetic compatibility. Housing versions with or without vents are available for optimum heat regulation. ME MAX B... MKDSO... Fixed connection, pluggable terminal blocks, or two-in-one it's up to you. Our plug connection technology is available in three forms, namely screw, spring-cage and fast connection methods. If that is not enough, our universal versions ME MAX... U-U1 can provide you with almost unlimited options. Function-oriented design The housings have large fronts, providing space for plugs with a high number of positions, or for operating and setting elements. The fitted cover can be easily adapted, printed on, and removed with a tool if necessary. The hinged transparent cover is the finishing touch. The printing is thus shielded against damaging environmental influences; setting elements are protected effectively. Flat designs Electronic components are becoming increasingly compact. The devices are moving out of the control cabinet and into the field, i.e. into small control boxes. In addition to the low ME MAX flat or superflat designs with a width of.5 and 45 mm, professional housings are available for these applications. Snap it on swing it in connect it The TBUS cross connector is snapped into the DIN rail, making it possible to wire through signal and supply voltages easily and cost-effectively. The bus connection is "selfconstructing" in the same pitch as the devices. Snap on the plugs swing on the modules finished! Complex preplanning or later corrections to the bus connection on site are a thing of the past. Unplugging individual modules from the whole The design allows the individual modules to be swung out of the group of modules. The contact chain is not interrupted here. 63 CM compact component housing The CM component housings are a comprehensive housing range for structuring industrial power electronics to suit the control cabinet. The wide range of housing versions makes it possible to integrate power electronics as well as standard transformers with EI core into the housings. The common features for all CM housings are: Rugged housing system Individual accommodation of electronics in different module versions with pitches of 50 to 00 mm Flexible accommodation of different connection elements (from high-position connectors to electronic PCB terminal blocks) Shock and contamination-proof accommodation of electronics Easy snap-on assembly on the symmetrical DIN rail in accordance with EN Construction principle The blown-up view shows the construction principle of the CM housing: The assembled PCB can be inserted into different guide slots of the lower housing part. The housing cover is then simply snapped together with the lower housing part. There is also an option of connecting the housing cover and the lower housing part mechanically using screws. Accommodating the electronic components The various housing variants allow optimum adaptation to the required PCB surface and the required connection method. For mounting the transformers, spacing bolts are provided in the larger housings, onto which the transformers can be screwed. The PCB geometry is rectangular. The dimensions of the PCBs and their assembly surfaces are given in the download center at Housing system The rear hoods for CM 175 with 35 mm and CM 00 with 55 mm design height are always provided with vents. The CM housings are designed for installation of PCBs in the housing floor that can be used as bus PCBs. Individual housing parts that deviate from the standard range can be provided on request. Mounting All CM housings are aligned in rows on the symmetrical DIN rail in accordance with EN by simply snap locking them into place. They can be removed by pulling back the orange engagement latch. There is also an option of using mounting feet instead of DIN rails. The relevant spacer elements have been provided with the housings CM Conductor connections The CM electronic housings are supplied without recesses for connection elements. It is thus possible to provide recesses in the housing depending on the corresponding requirements for the electronics and connection elements. 67 Panel mounting base UM press-drawn section panel mounting base The individual adaptation of the UM profiles to the dimensions of a printed circuit board means that a multitude of electronics circuits can be made DIN railmountable. A UM profile housing consists of the following components: UM... profile, UM...SE side elements in various widths and heights, foot elements UM...FE and UM profile covers for UM 100, UM 108 and UM 1. Depending on the desired module length and the required space, the profile is cut to length individually and screwed to a module using lateral and foot elements. Six scaled profile variants are available for PCB widths of mm, 4 mm, 7 mm, 100 mm, mm and 1 mm. The modules are mounted on the commercially available 3 or 4 DIN mounting rails (UM 5 and UM 45 only on 3 DIN mounting rail) or directly on the assembly board with the UMK-BF mounting flange. Marking grooves ensure a clearly arranged module marking with standard marking material (ZB 5). The standard color of the profiles is green. 68 Individual cutting to length The profiles can be cut to within a millimeter without rigid pitch divisions, so that the housing profile can be tailored to fit the electronics. Clearly arranged labeling The marker groove installed on both sides makes it possible to mark the profile flexibly and individually using the marking material ZB 5. Potential earth contact The PE contact integrated in the side element connects the inserted PCB with the DIN rail. Different UM...SE... side elements are used, depending on the cover selected. These elements can be supplied either with or without a foot and with an optionally integrated potential-earth contact. Guide slots that allow a vertical arrangement of additional PCBs on the base PCB are integrated in the high side parts. The transparent U profile covers UM...A/U are available in different lengths, depending on the profile length. The UMK-BF mounting flange enables direct panel mounting of the modules. In case of greater module lengths, additional foot elements UM...-FE increase the overall stability. Degree of protection Using the optionally available covers UM...-A/U enables the realization of touch and dirt-proof electronic modules. The degree of protection of the housings and terminal blocks protected in this way corresponds to IP0 (as per IEC / EN 60 59). Materials Housings and transparent covers are made of extruded PVC (UL 94-V0). The material is characterized by a favorable price/performance ratio. The maximum permitted operating temperature is 50 C. Covers with the ending HT are made of the high-temperature resistant thermoplastics material polycarbonate (UL 94-V0). Conductor connections A host of possibilities for external conductor connection can be supplied due to the large selection of electronic PCB terminal blocks such as screw, COMBICON, slip-on and spring-cage connections. 69 Panel mounting base UM profile panel mounting base The compact UM profile provides a multitude of possibilities for the construction of electronics circuits thanks to the housing which can be adapted to any printed circuit board. This enables the user to develop individual practical electronic modules. Depending on the required module size and the space available, the profile can be cut to size and combined with side and foot elements to form a module. The slim UM 5 and UM 45 modules are mounted perpendicular to the DIN rail. A special foot element, UM 5/45-FEO 00, is used for this. This arrangement is suitable for module lengths of 8 0 cm. The design helps to save space. The locking jack in the foot element is prepared for the desired module length. An additional side element is available for the UM 45 module. This enables the module to be mounted longitudinally on the 3 DIN rail in any length. They comprise various single elements with different dimensions and functions. They comprise individual elements with various dimensions and functions. By arranging the individual base elements in a row, the printed circuit board surface can be multiplied. Metal pins engage the individual base elements to form a sturdy unit. The various base elements are available with or without ribs to support the printed circuit board. Depending on the module size, one or more base elements can be fitted with a snap-on foot, which easily engages on EN DIN rails. The different length types allow, for example, power supply units, INTERBUS modules or sensor/actuator boxes to be mounted on DIN rails. Corresponding fastening holes are already integrated for fastening the devices. Naturally, individually designed racks can also be installed on this universal foot.
