Wireless Wall Switch Guide for PowerRise 2.0, PowerGlide 2.0, and PowerTilt Home Automation Control via the Connection Interface Operation For information regarding operation via a home automation system, refer to the Connection Interface Installation Guide. Troubleshooting If your shade is not operating correctly: First review the guide that came with your Platinum remote or Platinum wireless wall switch. Refer to the following troubleshooting procedures for the specific solutions for your shade. If questions remain, please contact the Hunter Douglas Customer Information Center at Problem The shade will not fit into the installation brackets. Solution Check that the installation brackets are level and aligned. Adjust and/or shim to level, if necessary. Be sure the heads of the mounting screws are flush against the installation bracket. Make sure that the shade fabric is not caught between the installation bracket and the headrail. Check that the headrail is completely inserted into the installation brackets. See Install the Shade on page 9. 16

OPERATION Problem The shade is not responding to the remote or the wireless wall switch. The shade raises or lowers unevenly or the bottom rail is uneven when fully raised. The shade operates using the manual control button, but does not operate using the remote control. Solution The batteries may be low in the wand or satellite battery pack. Replace the batteries. Check that the battery wand, satellite battery pack, or DC power supply is securely connected to the power cable and the cables are not pinched or caught in the headrail or installation brackets. Reset the shade. See Resetting a Window Covering to its Factory Defaults in the Platinum Technology Remote Control Guide or the Platinum Technology Wireless Wall Switch Guide for further information or see Reset the Shade on page 15. See the Platinum Technology Remote Control Guide or the Platinum Technology Wireless Wall Switch Guide for operation or programming troubleshooting solutions. Check that the headrail and installation brackets are level and aligned in the window. Level the headrail by shimming the installation brackets, if necessary. Make sure that the shade fabric is not caught between the installation bracket and the headrail. Adjust the bottom rail. See Adjust the Bottom Rail and Shade Height on page 19. See the Platinum Technology Remote Control Guide or the Platinum Technology Wireless Wall Switch Guide for operating or programming troubleshooting solutions. 17

OPERATION Problem The bottom rail (or middle rail for topdown shades) does not raise completely or the shade is operating slowly. Adjacent shades do not stack evenly. Lift cords hang from the bottom rail. Solution The batteries may be low in the wand or satellite battery pack. Replace the batteries. Check that the battery wand, satellite battery pack, or DC power supply is securely connected to the power cable and the cables are not pinched or caught in the headrail or installation brackets. Check if the fabric stacks up evenly into the headrail. If not, see Adjust the Bottom Rail and Shade Height on page 19. Reset the stop positions. See Resetting a Window Covering to its Factory Defaults in the Platinum Technology Remote Control Guide or the Platinum Technology Wireless Wall Switch Guide for further information. It is considered normal if the stack-up on both shades is within 5 /16" of each other. If one shade stacks up tighter than another, repeatedly lower and raise both shades. Reset the shade. See Reset the Shade on page 15. Check that the shade fabric is not catching on any brackets or components. Check that the fabric stacks evenly and does not rub against the headrail. If uneven, see Adjust the Bottom Rail and Shade Height on page 19. For a more exact stack-up, use the intermediate stop position to set a specifi c height. See the Platinum Technology Remote Control Guide or the Platinum Technology Wireless Wall Switch Guide for programming features. Tape the extra cord length to the bottom rail, or place into the groove on the bottom rail for future adjustments. 18

OPERATION Problem The bottom rail is not level, or the shade height is incorrect. Solution Check that the headrail and installation brackets are level and aligned in the window. Level the headrail by shimming the installation brackets, if necessary. Shims not provided. If the headrail is level and the installation bracket are aligned, adjust the shade height as described below. Adjust the Bottom Rail and Shade Height Shade height and adjustments to level the bottom rail can be made by adjusting the cord on the underside of the bottom rail. Locate the ferrule, seated in a pocket in the bottom rail. Remove the ferrule by pulling on the excess cord. If the cord has been trimmed, pull with needlenose pliers. To shorten the shade height, hold the cord tight under the ferrule. Then slide the ferrule up toward the pocket. To lengthen the cord, hold the cord tight between the pocket and the ferrule. Then slide the ferrule away from the pocket. After adjusting, place the ferrule fully back into the pocket. Once you are certain of the fi nal adjustments, make a knot at the end of the cord length and place it into the groove on the bottom rail (to allow for future adjustments). Ferrule Cord To Lengthen Bottom Rail Pocket Slide the ferrule down to lengthen the cord. Pull cord to remove ferrule. To Shorten Slide the ferrule up to shorten the cord. The ferrule has come off the cord. How do I re-thread the ferrule? Thread the end of the cord into the tapered end of the ferrule. Loop the end around the ferrule and back through the tapered end. Make sure the loop fi ts into the groove on the side of the ferrule. Be sure the cord loop fits into the ferrule groove. Cord Loop 19

CARE Cleaning Procedures Hunter Douglas Duette and Applause honeycomb shades are made of anti-static, dustresistant fabric which repels dirt and dust. For most honeycomb fabrics, the following cleaning options are available. Dusting Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning that is needed in most circumstances. Vacuuming CAUTION: Do not vacuum Architella Elan and Architella Elan Eclipse fabrics. For deeper cleaning, vacuum gently with a brush attachment. Compressed Air/Hair Dryer (Cool Setting) Use compressed air or a hair-dryer on a cool setting, to blow dust and dirt off shades. Spot-Cleaning CAUTION: Do not spot-clean Batiste, Opalessence, and Royale fabrics. Prepare a solution of warm water and a mild detergent. Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and wring it out. Dab the spot with the dampened cloth until it is gone. Do not rub the fabric. Allow the shade to dry in the completely lowered position. Bathtub Cleaning/Water Immersion CAUTION: Do not immerse fabric-covered valances. Do not immerse Commercial, Royale, and opaque fabrics. Immerse the shade in a basin or bathtub fi lled with a mild detergent. Never immerse the headrail into the solution. Rinse with clean water. Before removing from the rinse water, fully raise the shade and tilt it to allow excess water to drain off. Reinstall the damp shade, lower it, and let it dry completely. 20

CARE Ultrasonic Cleaning CAUTION: Do not ultrasonically clean fabric-covered valances, Commercial, Opalessence, and any opaque fabrics. Some honeycomb fabrics can be ultrasonically cleaned by a professional. Specify that a mild detergent solution be used. Never immerse the headrail into the solution. Dry the shade completely in the lowered position. On-Site Injection/Extraction Cleaning This type of professional cleaning injects a cleaning solution into the fabric and extracts the dirty solution in the same motion. CAUTION: Do not use injection/extraction cleaning on any fabric-covered valances. A dry method of injection/extraction is required for Architella, Commercial, Opalessence, Panache, Sunterra, and any opaque fabrics. If using injection/extraction for Batiste fabrics, specify that no chemicals are used (water only). Never immerse the headrail into the solution. Removing the Shade Fully raise the shade. Disconnect the power source from the power cable at the back of the shade. While holding the headrail, push back on the bottom tab of the installation bracket using a small fl at blade screwdriver to release the bottom edge of the headrail. After releasing the bottom edge, roll the back of the headrail downward and out from the bracket. Back of Shade Bracket Headrail Bottom Tab 21
