3 GENERAL The T4W is a hydraulic top-head-drive drill rig designed for waterwell and other applications requiring air or mud rotary, as well as down-hole hammer drilling methods. The drill is suitable for drilling 5-12 in. holes but can drill up to 20 in. holes and handle up to 19 in. diameter casing. The rig is factory mounted on a 6 x 4 custom carrier. Power Pack The engine, compressor and hydraulic pumps are mounted on a floating power pack. This is an independent frame that strengthens the chassis main frame and floats to maintain proper power train alignment. (21.1 1,980 RPM) COOLING PACKAGE The 4-section cooling package is designed to cool the hydraulic oil, compressor oil, engine fuel, and power pack engine coolant. 5 FEED SYSTEM The rotary head is pulled up and down by a heavy-duty chain and two hydraulic cylinders. Hydraulic Cylinders: 5 in. bore x 166 in. long Pulldown: 30,000 lb. TORQUE LIMIT CONTROL Excessive torque being applied to drill pipe joints or threaded casing is no longer a problem with the torque limit control, which allows the driller to preset the required torque output of the rotation system. Drill Pipe Carousel The carousel holds seven pieces of 4 ½ in. O.D. x 25 ft. long drill pipe. The carousel is mounted outside the derrick and is hydraulically positioned under the rotary head for drill pipe loading. A standard drill pipe storage rack, with a capacity of four pieces of 4 ½ in. O.D. x 25 ft. long drill pipe, is mounted on the side of the derrick. Collar Handling Package This option utilizes the existing standard jib boom and hoist arrangements with some minor modifications to line speed and lifting capacity. Package also includes a 2500 lb. / 1134 kg. capacity jib hoist to handle 5-1/2 in./140 mm drill collars in addition to a spindle sub for collar handling, a collar handling tool and a drill collar fork chuck. 6 T4W Water Well Drill Hydraulic Indexing A 3 in. bore x 4 ¾ in. stroke hydraulic cylinder can be installed for automatically indexing the 4 ½ in. drill pipe carousel. Note : This item is standard with the universal pipe handling package. BREAKOUT WRENCH Type: Single jaw, chain type, pivoting, pin mounting on base of derrick. Operators Controls All drilling function controls are conveniently located on a console. This console is positioned directly to the right of the table for easy access while drilling. LEVELING JACKS Three 5 in. bore x 48 in. stroke with 18 in. O.D. pads. Folding Operator Platform and Cover The operator s platform provides an ample working area and folds upward for travel. A protective cover is provided to guard against vandalism and transportation damage. Night Lights Four 70 watt halogen lights are standard, one each illuminating the power pack, derrick, table, and console. Tool Cabinet The tool cabinet is part of the standard equipment.
