If you really take your time and work slowly, you can do a great job in about 45 minutes per fender, or faster with a helper. Here are 3 tips to help you do a great job rolling your fenders: 1.

WARNING: This tool is designed to be used on single-layer automotive body metal. Not to be used on double-layer thick metal, as found on many rear fender panel applications.

1 Summit Racing Fender Roller SUM With the Summit Racing Fender Roller, it's not hard to roll fender lips to prevent them from cutting your tires. It takes, on average, about 30 minutes to roll one fender lip completely. If you really take your time and work slowly, you can do a great job in about 45 minutes per fender, or faster with a helper. Here are 3 tips to help you do a great job rolling your fenders: 1. Use a heat gun, warming up your fender lip paint before you start any bending. * Ask a helper to heat the fender lip paint with a heat gun while you apply the pressure to fender lip area to be rolled. ( It's easier when someone is holding the heat gun) 2. Be patient, take your time and follow these instructions closely. 3. Work section-by-section, doing only small 5 inch areas of the fender lip at a time. WARNING: This tool is designed to be used on single-layer automotive body metal. STEP 1 Attach the Fender Roller Tool to the wheel hub by securing it with your wheel lug nuts, Be sure to use the provided lug washers, as shown in picture above. These are Sometimes attached on the handle of the roller tool as above. It s also very important that you DO NOT over-tighten the lug nuts when installing this tool on your hub. DO NOT torque the lug nuts; Remember, you re not putting on a tire. Just slightly snugging past fingertight will work fine. Over tightening the lug nuts could bend the tool and damage it. A snug tight fit is good enough!

STEP 2 Now extend the length of the adjustable arm so the roller is touching the

fender lip, as DO NOT TRY ROLLING FENDER LIP UN-HEATED!

2 STEP 2 Now extend the length of the adjustable arm so the roller is touching the inner fender lip in the center of the fender, at the tallest section, as shown below. STEP 3 Next, adjust the angle of fender roller wheel and tilt it to meet the inner fender lip, as below. DO NOT TRY ROLLING FENDER LIP UN-HEATED! STEP 4 Now, using the adjustable bar, begin to adjust fender roller to Lightly apply some pressure on the inner fender lip as illustrated below. DO NOT TRY ROLLING FENDER LIP YET UN-HEATED!

The next step is Very Important! STEP 5 Use a heat gun to warm up the paint, just 5 inches in front of the roller wheel. This is the section of the lip you are going to bend and roll.

STEP 6 It s very important to keep the fender lip warm to prevent any cracking and flaking of the paint.

Warming up the paint at this area of contact between the inner fender lip and roller prevents paint from cracking and flaking off when rolling the lip up. STEP 6 It s very important to keep the fender lip warm to prevent any cracking and flaking of the paint. This is where you can ask a helper to hold the heat gun for warming up the paint on the lip just in front of the roller before you bend it up. The fender should be heated up just enough that you can t hold your hand on it. Not too hot because you re not trying to melt the paint, just warm it up so that it can become pliable and soft enough to bend, not crack. A good comparison would be to as hot as your car would be on any bright hot summer day, parked outside in the sun all day. (About 120 degrees F ) Make sure you don't burn, boil, or melt your paint. You just want to WARM it up a little bit.

STEP 7 Now that tool is against fender lip with slight pressure and lip has been heated up, it s now time to start rolling the fender lip by manually moving the roller wheel with your hands.

At this point, you only want to roll the lip HALF WAY! Not all the way YET! You only want to partially roll the entire fender lip about half way at first, 5 inch sections at a time.

4 STEP 7 Now that tool is against fender lip with slight pressure and lip has been heated up, it s now time to start rolling the fender lip by manually moving the roller wheel with your hands. Move the wheel back and forth in the 5 inch section, rolling over the lip with some pressure applied to it. Swing fender roller left and right with your hands several times against inner fender lip. At this point, you only want to roll the lip HALF WAY! Not all the way YET! You only want to partially roll the entire fender lip about half way at first, 5 inch sections at a time. STEP 8 After fender lip is partially rolled about half way, it s now time to go back and roll the lip completely, still going in small 5 inch areas section-by-section. Each time you will need to re-adjust the roller wheel to a new tilt angle and adjust the arm to apply slight pressure on the lip before heating and rolling each section until complete. Do not swing the roller all along the entire lip arc of 180-degrees! Continue to roll sectionby-section, 5 inch sections at a time.

NOTE: When readjusting pressure on the roller wheel, only turn the pressure screw a maximum ½ turn at a time to prevent fender damage. STEP 9 Please be conservative.

Use common sense and leave some curve on the fender lip so that the paint does not crack.

Do not roll the fender lip too far up because the paint will crack if you bend it too much. Use common sense and leave some curve on the fender lip so that the paint does not crack. The older the vehicle and paint, the higher the potential to crack the paint versus new car or a fresh new paint. There is always a risk of paint cracking, but it can be minimized with heat.
