2 Quickstart Checklist To start using your Turfvent Corecaster, follow these easy directions. Review all safety precautions on the next page prior to operation. 1. Check and tighten bolts as needed for each individual caster cluster before operating. 2. Check all of the grease fittings on each cluster and be sure they have enough grease to help the clusters rotate freely and are free of any excess dirt or debris. 3. Go to the instructions portion of this manual and follow either the 3 point hitch or front mount kit instructions depending on which hookup you ll be using. (The top picture to the right shows the 3 point hitch assembly finished and the picture right below it is how the front mount kit should look with the adapter arms when finished) 4. Once you have assembled whichever hookup you re using, attach it to your tractor you re using to pull/push your CTV-52. (This step will vary depending on what tractor and hookup you re using) 5. If you are using the 3 point hitch assembly, make sure your tractor is in float mode. (Also, there should be NO down pressure applied when using the 3 point hitch.) 6. You can now begin aerating your lawn 7. 3 GENERAL USE AND OPERATION Read all operating instructions thoroughly before you begin using your TURFVENT CORECASTER Core Plug Aerator. This will help you to operate and maintain the unit properly for safe and efficient operation. Congratulations! You have just purchased one of the most unique lawn care products on the market today. The TURFVENT CORECASTER allows the operator to aerate around typical lawn obstacles without breaking stride. Simply lower the CORECASTER to engage the tines into the turf. Begin to travel in the forward direction. Maintain the forward motion while making sharp turns left, right or spinning completely around. (It is necessary to disengage from operation to change from forward to backward motion). The TURFVENT CORECASTER Core Plug Aerator is for connection to commercial front mount mowers and all motorized equipment with a Category "1" three point hitch. The TURFVENT Ejector Tines have a maximum coring depth of 3.5". The moisture content of the soil and the travel speed all effect the turf penetration. SAFETY FIRST! WARNING! Under NO circumstances should children, adults or animals be allowed on any part of the CORECASTER at any time for any reason! Do not operate the CORECASTER near people or pets. Stop the unit if they approach while you are operating the CORECASTER Hitch adjustments or weights on the aerator frame should not be adjusted or moved unless the mower is stopped and the park brake applied. Attach or detach the CORECASTER ONLY when both the mower and the CORECASTER are on level ground. Do not allow the CORECASTER to be operated across paved or gravel roads, driveways, sidewalks, patios, etc., as the CORECASTER tines will be damaged and the surface could also be damaged. Always raise the CORECASTER to the transport position when you cross these surfaces. Do not run the CORECASTER over hoses, electrical cords, down-spout extensions, sprinkler heads, etc., as damage may occur. Make certain the lawn area to be aerated is clear of these and any other obstructions before you begin using the CORECASTER Form GM Z (06/16) Page 2

4 MAINTENANCE Lubricate the tine clusters at the grease fittings after every ten hours of operation to keep them turning freely. Use general purpose grease and remove any excess grease that can attract dirt and cause wear. (See pictures for help locating grease fittings) Periodically check all fasteners to make sure they are properly tightened. Clean remaining soil from the inside diameter of the tines when the job is completed. This will ensure proper operation for all future jobs. Uses Grade 5 hardware with Nylon Insert lock nuts. Casters: 5 caster assemblies with 360 degree dual-quad tine clusters which rotate in, and pivot on, oil-impregnated sleeve bearings (with grease fitting) with a thrust ball bearing (enclosed by a vinyl dust cap), supported by a Neoprene shock reducer. 9 Assembly Instructions Tools needed: (2) 19mm (or ¾ standard) sockets or wrenches (If 2 sockets are used, make sure 1 is a deep well socket so you can reach the locknuts on the longer capscrews) Assembling 3 Point Hitch: 1. Find the 3 Point Hitch in 1 of the extra cardboard boxes that came with your CTV Loosen the 2 lock nuts that are on the 2 long (3 ½ ) bolts in the back center of the frame for your CTV-52. (See Diagram #5 for help) 3. Once the nuts have been loosened and removed, put the 3 Point Hitch Tower Assembly through the bolts so that the hitch lays flat against the frame standing straight up. (Refer to Diagram #5 for visual) 4. Then take the lock nuts and retighten them on so that the hitch assembly is securely fastened into place as shown in Diagram #5 Assembling Front Mount Kit with Adapter Arms 1. Take your 2 Front Mount Carrier Tubes and slide them in position (shown to right) check for proper fit. (The paint coating on the tubes can make it tight so you may have to sand a little of the paint off the ends to make the tubes fit properly) 2. Once the fit is confirmed, take the 2 Front Mount Bracket Assemblies and slide them onto the front mount carrier tubes (shown to left) and center them by tightening the screw on top once the Bracket Assembly is in place. 3. Once centered put the carrier tubes back where they belong and tighten them into place with the 2 capscrews and lock nuts each. 4. Once the carrier tubes are in place with the Bracket Assemblies centered on them, the adapter arms can be attached. Start by taking the adapter arms and finding the side with only 1 hole. Take the side with just 1 hole in it and line it up with the bracket hole. Form GM Z (06/16) Page 8

10 5. Take the clevis pin from the front mount kit and insert it through the hole so that the adapter arm is attached to the bracket assembly. Then push the rue ring cotter pin through the clevis pin to lock the adapter arms in place. Repeat for the second adapter arm. (Use the picture to the right for help) Assembling CTV Start by taking your (2) 10 wings out of the box and removing the lock nuts on each of the wing s capscrews. Then take the capscrews and slide them through the wing attachment holes in the side of your CTV-52 frame. (Shown to left) Don t worry about the decals, just push the capscrews right through them and clean off as needed. 2. Once your capscrews are in place and clean of any decal remnants, slide the wing attachment onto the capscrews and tighten the lock nuts. Repeat this step for the other wing. Once both wings are on, you should have one row with 4 caster clusters and one row with 3. (Attached wing shown to the right). 3. Be sure to check the new caster clusters for proper greasing and check the nuts on the wing attachments to ensure they are properly tightened. Form GM Z (06/16) Page 9

11 WARRANTY INFORMATION MANUFACTURER'S Limited Warranty Feldmann Engineering and Manufacturing Co., Inc. warrants the TURFVENT CORECASTER Core Plug Aerator to be made of first quality materials and workmanship and will, at its option, repair or replace any component or part thereof found to be defective in such materials and workmanship if returned to the factory, PREPAID, within ninety (90) days {thirty (30) days for Commercial and/or Rental use} of the date of purchase by the original purchaser. Inbound and outbound transportation charges are paid by purchaser. Feldmann Engineering assumes no responsibility for tine wear or damage caused by misuse, careless handling, incorrect or improper assembly or repairs made or attempted by unauthorized persons.
