No. 845) 1 Remove the top of the Greenhouse by removing the four screws.

2 2 Look for the tiny holes at these points shown. This is where the landing gear attaches. 3 Attach the two side struts at these points with the small wood screws. 4 5 Insert the main under carriage into the struts. Attach the under carriage to the bottom of the fuselage with four wood screws. Use medium CA to hold the wire undercarriage in the strut. Using medium CA glue the top of the strut where the three wires go in.

3 6 Slip the 2 carbon rods through the fuse and two wing blocks as shown. 7 8 Slip the left and right wing panels onto the carbon rod as shown. Push everything together for a nice dry fit. You may chose to make the wings removable by just using the spring that is in the small parts bag to hold the wings together. If you want to make them permanent do the following. Take this assembly apart. Mix up an adequate amount of 15 minute epoxy. Apply epoxy to the carbon rods, joints between the wing panels and wing blocks. Use denatured alcohol to wipe off the excess Epoxy. Use masking tape to hold everything in position until the Epoxy has set. Before the epoxy has set. Hook up the spring between the two hooks. This spring is in the small parts bag.

4 9 Screw the four carbon struts to the wing as shown 10 Connect the carbon struts to the fuse as shown using heat shrink tubing. Turn the plane right side up. With a soldering iron shrink the tubing onto the rod and wire. Use thin CA to secure the joint after you have shrunk the tubing. As you can see I got to close to the fuse with the soldering iron to shrink the tubing. Make a slit in a piece of cardboard and put it between the strut and the fuse while you are shrinking the tubing. This will keep you from damaging the covering. 11 Slip the horizontal stab and vertical fin into the fuse. With masking tape or a fine tip marker. Make a line where the covering meets the fuse.

5 12 13 Remove these parts from the fuse and make a mark in 1/8 from the tape edge. With a pencil soldering iron or sharp hobby knife score the covering and remove the covering in this area. Do not cut the wood this will weaken it. Do the same for the vertical stab. Parts ready to install 14 With a covering iron seal the edges of the covering down to the balsa. This is low temp covering Mix up an adequate amount of 15 minute epoxy and glue the horizontal stab to the fuse. Make sure that the horizontal stab is parallel to the wing. Measure the distance from the tip of each wing to the Tip of the stab. Adjust the stab until the distance from the tip Of the stab to the tip of the wing is equal on both sides. Glue the vertical fin in place making sure that it is square with the horizontal stab

6 17 Install the tail skid with 5 minute Epoxy. 18 Assemble the wood motor mount. The mount has right thrust built into it. Use a rubber band to temporarily hold it together. Using medium Ca glue the motor box together. Radio Installation 1 Install the 2 aileron servos and flap servos on their mounts. Use a 12 servo extension for the ailerons and an 8 extension on the flap servos. 2 Install the four straight carbon fiber control horns. 2 Aileron 2- Flaps

7 3 Install the Aileron servos in the wing. Use a 12 inch extension on each aileron servo. Hook up the ailerons as shown. Use DuBro E/Z connectors on the control surfaces. 4 5 Install the two-flap servos. Make sure they are at their end point. Use an 8 inch wire extension on each. Hook up the flaps and leading edge slats as shown. Use E/Z connectors on the flap and the servo control horn. 6 Install the elevator and rudder servo. Use E/Z connectors on the servo horns.

8 7 Make up the elevator and rudder pushrods with Z bends and heat shrink tubing. 8 Slide the elevator and rudder push rods into the fuse. Hook a carbon fiber control horn on to each of the rods and with CA. Glue the horns into the control surfaces. 9 Hook up the pushrods to the rudder and elevator servos as shown. Use the same method of making up the ends with wire, heat shrink tubing and CA. Motor installation and final assembly

9 1 Install the motor and the speed controller. 2 Install cowl with screws Install the decals as per the photo on the box. Install the receiver, battery and secure them in place. Check all controls for proper direction. The battery goes all the way forward. Install the top Greenhouse windows. I hinged the green house by using a piece of clear tape. This allows easy access to the radio compartment. Do not use transparent tape or it will look like this. You get the idea. 6 Check C.G. Should be

10 7 Final approximately 2 back from the leading edge or just forward of the wing spar. Set the control throws as follows. Ailerons- full travel without binding. Use differential if your radio has it. More up than down. Elevator - ¾ inch up and down to start. Rudder 1 ½ inch L&R Flaps and slats 15 degrees down. Flying the Storch is a lot of fun but keep the following in mind. If you use the flaps and leading edge slats make sure you have enough power on when you do this. The plane will drastically slow down and stall. Get some altitude when you first try this. Remember that the Storch was designed to fly SLOW it s not a 3D flyer. Enjoy
