Power Supply for AutoSteer System Vehicle Power The "VEHICLE POWER" connector on the Main Cable Harness is connected to a power connector provided by the Display. The Display will control when the power is provided or shut down when it is turned on and off. Refer to your Display Operator's Manual for specific instructions on how to connect the ParaDyme system to the Display. Refer to the Power Supply for AutoSteer System section on Page 52 to help locate the power source required for the Display. Note: The Main Cable Harness has a standard Accessory Plug type connector that could be connected directly to many vehicles. This connector should NOT be plugged directly into the accessory port of the vehicle as the ParaDyme system will remain powered up even after the Display has been turned off. This could cause communication problems as well as drain the vehicle's battery if left for a long period. Always follow instructions in Display Owner's Manual for instructions on how to power the ParaDyme system. Power Supply for AutoSteer System Note: The ParaDyme system does not get its power directly from connections shown in this section. This section is provided only as a reference to the installer to help locate the power supply points that may be used by various Display options. Refer to your Display Operator's Manual to determine which power source should be used to power the AutoSteer system and how to attach the ParaDyme Main Cable Harness to the Display harness. Install the Display power cables as described in the Display Operator's Manual and then attach the ParaDyme Main Cable Harness s Vehicle Power to the connector provided by the Display installation harnesses. Note: The AutoSteer Main Cable Harness s Vehicle Power connector is always connected to a Display harness with switched power. It is never connected directly to the vehicle accessory port. Connecting the Main Cable Harness directly to the vehicle accessory port will cause the AutoSteer system to remain powered up even when the vehicle and Display are shut off. This can lead to unexpected battery drain when the system is not in use. Displays typically will provide power in one of two ways. Direct to Battery - A fused battery harness supplied by the Display kit is run from directly from the battery or an alternative location with high amp positive and negative connections posts to the Display. In this situation a Power Relay Adapter must be installed that converts the Display's on/off signal to power up and power down to the ParaDyme. An example of this type of install is shown in Figure 9. Accessory Port - Some Displays provide a harness that plugs into the accessory port in the cab and then provides a second Accessory port that the ParaDyme Main Cable Harness is attached to. In this situation, the Display provides power to the second plug only when the Display is powered on, thus turning the ParaDyme off when the Display is shut off. An example of this type of install is shown in Figure 10. If the Display requires a Direct to Battery connection refer to the Accessing Vehicle Battery section on Page 53 or the Alternative Power Connection section on Page 55. If the Display requires using the Accessory Port in the cab of the vehicle refer to the Cab Accessory Port section on Page AutoSteer System

Access Vehicle Battery Power Supply for AutoSteer System 5. Attach Display power cable to the positive and negative terminals of the battery and route harness towards the cab. Alternative Power Connection This vehicle has power junction posts that can simplify connecting auxiliary power cables. These posts will allow enough current to be supplied to the AutoSteer system, however it is not fused near the battery. If these connectors are used, the installer must disconnect battery power to the supply cables prior to connecting the AutoSteer battery supply cable to the terminals. Note: Failure to disconnect the battery prior to connecting the AutoSteer battery supply cable may cause a short and damage to the vehicle if a live wire touches a ground when the nuts are removed from the terminal. Always disconnect the battery connection prior connecting the battery cable. Alternative Power Connection 1. Open the front, left side main body door by turning the latch and pulling the door open. Hardware Installation Guide 55

Power Supply for AutoSteer System Alternative Power Connection 2. Locate the battery compartment in front of the left, rear axle. 3. Locate the battery disconnect on the back side of the battery compartment near the top. 4. Turn the handle to the disconnect position. All power to the combine should be disabled now. Note: Verify that power has been disconnected before proceeding. 56 AutoSteer System

Alternative Power Connection Power Supply for AutoSteer System 5. Locate the rubber covered power posts on the back side of the battery compartment. 6. Remove the rubber caps from both the positive and negative terminals. 7. Use a 5/8" wrench to remove the brass contact posts on the positive and negative terminals. 8. Attach Display power cable to the positive and negative posts and then reattach the brass contacts and rubber protectors. Hardware Installation Guide 57

Power Supply for AutoSteer System Cab Accessory Port Some installations may allow the use of the Cab Accessory Port to provide power. Use this port only if the Display Operator s Manual directs you to do this. Figure 10 Typical Accessory Port Connection Diagram Figure 11 Accessory Port Example This vehicle does not have a 12 Volt Accessory Port in the cab from the factory. If this option is required, a Battery Power Adapter Kit (PN ) will need to be ordered and installed. Route the cable from the battery source to the Cab through the Cab Cable Access Point. Note: Verify the fuse supplied with the kit is spliced between the end of the harness's Red and White wires and battery source. This provides power to pins 1 and 2 at the connector. The fuse protects the vehicle from a short should something damage the power cable. Failure to add the fuse may cause damage to the vehicle. This solution is only necessary if your Display Operator's Manual directs you to connect to the Accessory Port. 58 AutoSteer System

6 Post-Installation Procedures and Information Once the entire AutoSteer system, including the Display and Display Harnesses, has been installed on the vehicle, the procedures and notes provided in this chapter must be followed to complete the installation and prepare the vehicle for full AutoSteer capabilities. Install Warning Label Install the Warning Label on the cab window in a position that is easy to read and does not obstruct the driver s view of the road or surrounding obstacles. Note: Install the Warning Label with the language that best matches the operator s language. If necessary, install labels in multiple languages. Warning labels are provided in the following languages: English, French, German, and Spanish. Figure 12 AutoSteer Warning Label Hardware Installation Guide 59
