TYRE TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE REVEALING SYSTEM S E C U R I T Y C A R T E C H N O L G O Y English MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS 6/950
TABLE OF CONTENTS Warnings Working details Installation Procedure Receiver/Display-Installation Electric Connections Installation of Sensor/Transmitter-Modules Receiver/Display Commands-Description Programming S-1 - Tyre-Control S-2 - Alarm-Values S-3 Tyre-Rotation S-4 Replacing a Sensor S-5 Display-Light S-6 Activation of Spare-Tyre-Sensor Error-Guide Technical Data Components included in the package Warranty-Conditions WARNINGS Scope and Use of the Tyre-pressure Monitoring System The system measures the tyre pressure and temperature and reveals them to the driver, by indicating the possible variations coming up with respect to the programmed values. How to react to the alarm signalizations When the alarm sets in, reduce the car s speed and look for a secure stopping space where an inspection and/or intervention to the tyres can be effected. Installation and Use of the System For a correct use of the system, it is necessary that the installation is carried out correctly, through qualified personnel, by observing the present mounting Instructions. The system is suitable for car tyres inflated with a cold pressure between 1 and 3.4 Bar. Use of chemicals Chemical substances used for sealing or temporary pump-up, can have a negative effect on the function of the sensors. ATTENTION: the System does NOT detect possible tyre-deteriorations, so that periodical check-ups through your tyre-specialist remain indispensable. 2
FUNCTIONING The pressure and temperature indications are forwarded to the Riceiver and subsequently shown on the LCD-Display. Whenever the revealed pressure turns out to be lower or higher than the programmed limits, or when the revealed temperature is too high, the Receiver will, for a few seconds, emit an acoustic alarm signal and activate the Display-light, in order to draw the driver s attention. - Alert for starting low pressure: the pressure-indicator (YELLOW) will flash. - Alarm for low/high pressure: the pressure-indicator (YELLOW) will turn-on permanently. - Alarm for high temperature: the temperature-indicator (YELLOW) will turn-on permanently. - The Tyre-icon of the tyre under Alert/Alarm flashes more rapidly. The indicators will remain turned-on, until the values come back to their normal value. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1) Effect the installation of the Receiver/Display and related electrical connections. 2) Effect the installation of the sensors onto the tyres. A few minutes after having inflated the tyres, the Display will show the existing pressure and temperature. NOTE: The device has been pre-set to the following values: Alert for starting low pressure: pressure equal or lower than 1.7 Bar Alarm for low pressure: pressure equal or lower than 1.5 Bar Alarm for high pressure: pressure equal or higher than 3 Bar Alarm for high temperature: tyre-temperature higher than 80 C. It is possible to maintain these pre-set values. On the other hand, you can, if you wish, manually set your own value-limits. 3
INSTALLATION OF RECEIVER/DISPLAY TPMS Look for the best possible Receiver/Display-location assuring an easy reading. Make sure that the device does NOT interfere with the driving sight. Fit the Receiver into the support, without eliminating the protection from the biadhesive strip. Position the Receiver on the chosen spot, to find out where the power cable will have to come out. Place the power cable. Eliminate the bi-adhesive strip protection from the Receiver/Display. Apply the support plus Receiver onto the windscreen. Take the receiver off from its support. Stick the support onto the windscreen by pressing your fingers tightly along the edges. Connect the power-cable to the clamp-holder situated on the Receiver. Fit the Receiver/Display into its support. 4
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS + M OK T Orange / Acc + Red / B+ BATTERY Black / GND Carefully observe and stick to the stated connections. Wrong connections will negatively influence the correct functioning of the device. 5
INSTALLATION OF THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER-MODULES To effect a correct installation, excluding possible damage, the given installation procedure needs to be carried out exclusively through trained personnel. To effect the sensors installation, not only will you need to know how to replace a tyre but also use very special care not to damage the sensors. We recommend to effect the installation at the given sequences: - Take-off the original valve. - Insert the enclosed valve into the related hole, after having eliminated the grained nut and the chrome-plated bushing. - Fit chrome-plated bushing plus grained nut onto the valve. - Position the sensor behind the valve. - Insert the enclosed screw which will block the sensor onto the tyre valve. - Make sure that the screw is adequately fixed to be able to resist to the sensor-weight. - Apply the marking-tag to the valve-stem. Use the marking-tag of the same colour as the sensor-sticker. - Wind the marking-tag carefully around the valve-stem and subsequently fix by means of the valve-cap. - Always keep the coloured marking-tags on the valve-stem, in due consideration of the fact that in case of a tyre-replacement, the marking-tags will remind you of the sensor presence. Now install the tyre. Check that the tyres are well balanced (sensor-weight: 32 grams) Now install the various tyres, in due account of the following position/colour: Colour/ number of Transmitter-sticker Tyre-position RED (1) left front YELLOW (2) right front BLUE (3) right rear GREEN (4) left rear WHITE (5) Optional for spare tyre or replacement 6
