2 INSTALLATION Customer Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by do-it-yourselfers. 1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. If the vehicle is equipped with map lights, go to step 2, otherwise go to step Remove the left and right lenses from the map light console (four retaining tabs for each lens). Remove the two bolts. Without Moonroof and With Hands Free Link Remove the map light console (unplug two vehicle connectors). 2 VEHICLE S FRONT RIGHT MAP LIGHT LENS MAP LIGHT CONSOLE With Moonroof Remove the map light console. Then unplug three vehicle connectors, and remove the switch (four retaining tabs). 3 3. Remove the driver s and passenger s sunvisor holders. 6. Wrap the tip of a flat-tip screwdriver with tape. Locate the slot in the bracket cover, and insert the flat-tip screwdriver into the slot. Push the hook with the screwdriver. FLAT-TIP SCREWDRIVER BRACKET COVER TAPE HOOK SUNVISOR HOLDER (Rotate.) PASSENGER S SUNVISOR HOLDER (Rotate.) SUNVISOR FRONT 4. Remove the cover (two retaining tabs). Q082404BK Make sure the hook slides into the bracket cover. COVER Push the hook. REARVIEW (Discard.) 2 RETAINING While pushing in on the hook, rotate the sunvisor backward about 45. Q090602BK 7. While pushing in on the hook, rotate the driver s sunvisor backward about 45. Make sure the hook slides into the bracket cover. HOOK MOUNT Q083101AH NOTE: If the hook did not stay pushed in, return the driver s sunvisor to its original position and repeat steps 6 and While holding down the hook as shown, remove the rearview mirror from the mirror mount American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 4 8. Remove the driver s sunvisor. 11. Put a shop towel in the opening between the driver s A-pillar trim and the dashboard to catch any A-pillar clips that drop. A-PILLAR TRIM A-PILLAR FRONT SUNVISOR SHOP TOWEL Q090603AK 9. Pull the driver s door opening seal away from the A-pillar. Click to Stop Click to Play Q092001AK 12. Remove the driver s A-pillar trim from the upper clip and unplug the vehicle connector, if equipped. Carefully remove the shop towel and any clips that fell from the driver s A-pillar trim. Pull the clip. NOTE: The upper clip will stay in the body. UPPER CLIP A-PILLAR A-PILLAR TRIM DOOR OPENING SEAL (Pull away.) VEHICLE (if equipped) if equipped 2 CLIPS Q082301AK A-PILLAR TRIM 10. 5 13. Remove the remaining upper clip from the driver s A-pillar. 15. Pull away the door opening seal from around the dashboard. Push two tabs. 2 RETAINING A-PILLAR UPPER CLIP (Discard.) 14. Remove the driver s dashboard side cover (three clips, two retaining tabs, and two hooks). 17. Remove the driver s dashboard lower cover (nine clips and unplug the vehicle connector, if equipped). 6 Installing the Automatic Day/Night Mirror Without Another Accessory Harness 18. Install the automatic day/night mirror on the mirror mount as shown, and tighten the TORX screw. 21. Plug the automatic day/night mirror harness 6-pin connector into the fuse box 6-pin connector. T20 TORX WRENCH Torque: N m ( kgf m, lbf ft). Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the fuse case where the fuse label will attach. With Another Accessory Harness 22. Unplug the other accessory harness 6-pin connector from the fuse box 6-pin connector. 6-PIN FUSE BOX 6-PIN 2A FUSE LABEL FUSE CASE (Clean with isopropyl alcohol.) Q091801AH DUMMY (Discard.) 7 23. Plug the automatic day/night mirror harness 6-pin connector into the fuse box 6-pin connector. 24. Remove the dummy connector from the automatic day/night mirror harness 6-pin connector, and plug the other accessory harness 6-pin connector into the automatic day/night mirror harness 6-pin connector. 25. Route the automatic day/night mirror harness to the driver s dashboard lower cover opening as shown. For Si models, go to step 28. For other models, continue to step Plug the vehicle 5-pin connector (blue) or, if equipped, the ambient light harness 5-pin connector (green) to the automatic day/night mirror harness 5-pin connector. Go to step 30. NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with an ambient light switch, do not plug the 5-pin connector (blue) to the automatic day/night mirror harness 5-pin connector. VEHICLE 5-PIN (Blue) OR AMBIENT LIGHT 5-PIN (Green) 5-PIN VEHICLE WIRE TIE Q083104AH 26. Secure the automatic day/night mirror harness to the vehicle harness with one wire tie. Unplug the vehicle 5-pin connector (blue) or, if equipped, the ambient light harness 5-pin connector (green) from the VSA switch, and plug it into the automatic day/night mirror harness 5-pin connector. NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with an ambient light switch, do not plug the 5-pin connector (blue) to the automatic day/night mirror harness 5-pin connector. 30. Using one wire tie, secure the automatic day/night mirror harness to the vehicle harness as shown. Align. VSA SWITCH WIRE TIE VEHICLE 5-PIN (Blue) OR AMBIENT LIGHT 5-PIN (Green) (if equipped) VEHICLE Q083106BH 31. Route the automatic day/night mirror harness toward the outside of the vehicle as shown. 5-PIN Q083107AH 29. Plug the automatic day/night mirror harness 5-pin connector (blue) to the VSA switch. 9 32. Route the automatic day/night mirror harness between the dashboard and the driver s A-pillar. DASHBOARD 34. Route the automatic day/night mirror harness behind the headliner as shown. Be careful not to crease the headliner. HEADLINER A-PILLAR Q083109BH 33. Align the green tape on the automatic day/night mirror harness with the vehicle clip, and secure the automatic day/night mirror harness to the vehicle harness with one wire tie. Q083111CH 35. Plug the automatic day/night mirror harness 7-pin connector to the automatic day/night mirror. WIRE TIE GREEN TAPE VEHICLE 7-PIN Align. 10 36. Align the green tape on the automatic day/night mirror harness at the headliner as shown. Route the automatic day/night mirror harness through the groove in the harness cover. Secure the harness cover to the mirror stay, and put the top of the harness cover behind the headliner. 2-Door Models Align. 4-Door Models HEADLINER Align. COVER GREEN TAPE COVER GREEN TAPE HEADLINER STAY COVER STAY COVER Q091902BH 37. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the area where the urethane tape will attach. VEHICLE PANEL Q083113BH URETHANE TAPE HEADLINER VEHICLE PANEL (Clean with isopropyl alcohol.) URETHANE TAPE Q083114BH 38. Secure the automatic day/night mirror harness to the vehicle panel with one urethane tape as shown. Be careful not to crease the headliner. 10 of 12 AII (1104) 2011 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 11 39. Using three wire ties, secure the automatic day/night mirror harness to the vehicle harness as shown. VEHICLE WIRE TIES Q083115BH 40. Non-Si models only: Plug the automatic day/night mirror harness 5-pin connector (blue) to the VSA switch. 5-PIN (Blue) VSA SWITCH 42. Check that all wire harnesses are routed properly and all connectors are plugged in. 43. Check the overlap between the headliner and the driver s A-pillar trim. Refer to the Service Manual. If necessary, adjust the overlap. 44. Reinstall all removed parts. 45. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. 46. Press and hold the radio power button for two seconds to restore the radio and navi (if equipped) system functions. 47. Reset the clock. 48. If the IMA battery level gauge is at zero, start the engine and hold the rpm between 3,500 and 4,000 (no load) in P or N position until the Charge/Assist meter indicates the IMA system has stopped charging the battery. 49. Do the FUNCTION CHECK to verify the operation of the automatic day/night mirror. 50. Adjust the zone and calibrate as required. 51. Put the Operating Instructions in the glove box. FUNCTION CHECK 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), but do not start the engine. 2. Turn on the switch. Check that the LED lights. DASHBOARD LOWER COVER Q091903AH SWITCH (Turn on.) 41. 12 3. Cover the front sensor in the automatic day/night mirror with your hand, and use a flashlight on the rear sensor in the automatic day/night mirror. Make sure the mirror surface becomes dim. SURFACE FLASHLIGHT FRONT SENSOR (Cover.) REAR SENSOR AB 4. Make sure the parking brake is applied securely. Step on the brake pedal, and move the select lever to the R position. Repeat step 3, and make sure the mirror surface does not become dim. 5.
