3 GENERAL INFORMATION This manual provides basic installation, operating, and maintenance information regarding the Logan Hydraulic Manifold Assembly product. All Logan Hydraulic Manifold Assemblies are designed, manufactured, and tested to provide consistent performance and reliability. 4 OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS I. General Operation Guide All Logan Hydraulic manifold assemblies are designed to provide optimum actuation pressure to Logan product. The Logan Hydraulic manifold assemblies are designed to operate ONE clutch assembly. Consult Logan Clutch Corp. for applications that require multiple clutch devices. The manifold assemblies are designed to be integrated into existing hydraulic systems and function provided continuous flow and pressure are present to the manifold assembly. The hydraulic manifold assembly includes several components that provide the functionality required to operate and monitor Logan product: 1) Pressure reducing / relieving valve: Factory preset to the maximum allowable pressure of the clutch assembly (typical settings are 120, 200, 320, or 435 psi). Excessive pressure is relieved to the T port. 2) Solenoid valve (12 or 24VDC): When energized this valve directs flow to the C port. Actuation pressure will remain at the C port as long as the solenoid remains energized. 3) Low pressure switch: Factory preset to a setting marginally less than the pressure reducing / relieving valve. The pressure switch ensures sufficient pressure is present so that optimum pressure is available at time of clutch actuation. Should the minimum pressure not be available at the pressure switch then the switch will remain in the open state and the solenoid cannot be energized. 4) Pressure gauge: This gauge measures the pressure at port C. The reading of this gauge indicates the pressure being supplied to the clutch assembly. 5) Test Point (equipped on some models): Used to validate the incoming pressure to the manifold assembly (pressure at port P ). 6) Soft Shift Controller (soft-start option only): Electrical device used to control current to coil and enable softstart engagement of the clutch device. Factory preset to maximum time setting of 4 to 5 seconds. Field verification of proper adjustments required at initial start-up.! Caution! The solenoid coil located on the manifold assembly will operate HOT to the touch when energized for an extended period of time. 4
5 OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS II. Hydraulic Fluid Specifications 1) Recommended fluids: Mineral based or synthetic hydraulic oils with lubricating properties at viscosities of 7.4 to 420 cst (50 to 2000 sus). 2) Ensure that the hydraulic oil that is used is not contaminated. Using an inferior hydraulic oil will cause a short life span, poor performance, and possibly many malfunctions. 3) A 20-micron (or better) filter element must be installed in the supply line before the manifold assembly, to minimize abrasive wear on components. 4) Optimum oil selection should be determined by OEM of the equipment. For Logan hydraulic manifold and clutch devices and based on normal operating conditions an ISO Grade 32 hydraulic oil is acceptable.! Caution! Logan Clutch Corp. recommends the filter location to be on the supply line, not on the return to tank line (Port T ). When using a filter on the return to tank line maximum back pressure must not exceed 5 psi (0.3 Bar). III. Optional Operating Specifications Optional operating specifications are available for the Logan hydraulic manifold assemblies such as alternative pressure settings and low pressure switch settings. These settings are dependent upon specific applications. Consult Logan Clutch Corporation for requesting alternative settings. 1) Check Valve Feature - a check valve can be installed in lieu of the hex-head SAE o ring plug found in the manifold assembly. The purpose of the component would be in the event that momentary hydraulic pressure is not available to port P of the manifold assembly during desired clutch device operation. When installed the actuation pressure will be checked between the low pressure switch and clutch device (port C ). The clutch can be disengaged when using this feature by de-energizing the solenoid coil. Contact Logan Clutch Corp. to review application if feature is desired. 2) Soft Start Feature - for applications that have a relatively large inertia to engage or in which the clutch must be engaged at speeds above normal engine idle. 5
6 OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS IV. Electrical Specifications (standard manifold assembly) 1. Solenoid Coil Specifications 12VDC option: 1.7A 20 C (68 F) 24VDC option: 0.8A 20 C (68 F) Maximum allowable draw thru the low pressure switch: 3A 2. Sample Electrical Diagram (see pg. 7 for sample wire to wire diagram)! Important! Prior to operation, the installation should be reviewed by a qualified electrician to assure conformity with applicable regulations and codes. 9 INSTALLATION INFORMATION I. Installation Requirements 1. It is important to bleed air from the manifold assembly and associated hydraulic hoses after initial installation. Carefully loosen fittings at junction C and TP on the manifold and at the clutch device for several seconds while energizing the solenoid to bleed air from the system. Tighten all fittings and top off oil reservoir (if required) following this procedure. 2. Port Identification and Sizes Port P : Pressure inlet port, SAE o-ring port size 6 (9/16-18 UNF thread). See Installation Requirement #3 chart for pressure and flow requirements. Port T : Tank / Drain port, SAE o-ring port size 6 (9/16-18 UNF thread). This return line requirement is an unrestricted port back to tank. Do not install a filter element on this return line, as any back pressure exceeding approximately 5 psi (0.3 Bar for most Logan clutch units) will cause the clutch unit to disengage sluggishly, resulting in excessive heat and wear. Port C : Clutch port, SAE o-ring port size 6 (9/16-18 UNF thread). At this junction a hydraulic hose should be installed to the clutch device actuation port. 3. Requirements may vary slightly depending upon the noted factors and specific clutch model. 4. Pressure Adjustment Procedure The hydraulic manifold assemblies are factory preset to optimum pressure allowance of Logan clutch devices. However, due to the viscosity of various types of hydraulic fluids and ambient conditions the pressure reducing / relieving valve may require adjustment to achieve a desired setting. Before making adjustments allow the equipment s hydraulic system to circulate and warm to normal operating conditions prior to energizing the clutch device and checking the output pressure. If an adjustment is required the following procedure can be followed: 1. Remove cap from pressure reducing / relief valve by using 5/16 hex wrench and supporting the valve body with a 1 wrench. 2. Insert a 3/16 hex wrench into cavity of valve and energize solenoid coil. Caution! Clutch will energize. 3. Turn hex wrench clockwise slowly to increase desired pressure to clutch or turn counterclockwise to decrease pressure. Reinstall cap onto pressure reducing / relieving valve.! Caution! Do not adjust the pressure reducing / relieving valve to a pressure that exceeds the maximum rated pressure of the clutch device without prior consent of Logan Clutch Corporation.

Mounting Location Requirements It is recommended that the hydraulic manifold assembly be mounted near the clutch assembly to minimize momentary pressure losses in the manifold during clutch actuation. Do not install the manifold assembly near a heat source such as an exhaust pipe, heat exchanger, or engine manifold. IV. Mounting Dimensions * 2D and 3D files available upon request. Energize clutch and recheck pressure. Solenoid coil or valve is faulty Replace coil and / or valve component Pressure switch is faulty Replace pressure switch. Pressure reducing / relieving valve is faulty Replace valve 'On-Off' switch device is faulty Check switch contacts / replace switch Excessive back pressure at Port 'T' Check pressure at this junction (see pg. 8) TROUBLESHOOTING 11

THE FOLLOWING WARRANTY FROM LOGAN CLUTCH IS EXPRESSED IN LIEU OF ANY OTHE WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE, AND ALL OTHER OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES ON THE PART OF LOGAN CLUTCH. LOGAN CLUTCH NEITHER ASSUMES NOR AUTHORIZES ANY OTHER PERSON TO ASSUME FOR IT ANY OTHER LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH THE SALE OF THE PRODUCTS OF LOGAN CLUTCH. LOGAN CLUTCH WARRANTS THAT THE GOODS DESCRIBED IN THIS WARRANTY ARE FREE FROM DEFECTS IN WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY (90) DAYS AFTER INSTALLA- TION OR 365 DAYS AFTER SHIPMENT, WHICHEVER MAY BE APPLICABLE. PURCHASER S REMEDY IS HOWEVER SUBJECT TO AN INSPECTION AND DETERMINATION BY LOGAN CLUTCH AT LOGAN S PLANT, THAT ANY ALLEGED DEFECT, MALFUNCTION OR OTHER FAILURE OF A LOGAN CLUTCH PRODUCT IS NOT THE RESULT OF MISUSE, IMPROPER APPLICATION OR INSTALL- ATION, ABUSE, OR DAMAGE OCCURRING AFTER THE PRODUCT HAS LEFT THE CUSTODY OF LOGAN CLUTCH. IMPORTANT: WARRANTIES ARE VOID ON ALL APPLICATIONS WHICH EXCEED LOGAN CLUTCH CATALOG SPECIFICATIONS FOR NEW APPLICATIONS. LOGAN CLUTCH ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY AND EXTENDS NO WARRANTY UNLESS IT HAS APPROVED THE APPLICATION IN ADVANCE. IF PURCHASER SEEKS REJECTION OF GOODS DELIVERED FOR NONCONFORMITY WITH THIS CONTRACT AND/OR PACKING LIST DISC REPANCIES, PURCHASER MUST SEND WRITTEN NOTIFICATION TO LOGAN CLUTCH OF THE REJECTION OF THE GOODS WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS AFTER DELIVERY OF THE GOODS TO THE PURCHASER. THIS NOTIFICATION SHALL STATE THE BASIS OF THE ALLEGED NONCON- FORMITY AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE PORTION OF THE SHIPMENT REJECTED. FAILURE OF THE PUR- CHASER TO SEND WRITTEN NOTIFICATION TO LOGAN CLUTCH WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS AFTER DELIVERY SHALL BE DEEMED CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE THAT NO NONCONFORMITIES OR PACKING LIST DISCREP- ANCIES EXISTED AT THE TIME OF THE DELIVERY TO PURCHASER. II. PURCHASER S RIGHTS IN ORDER TO OBTAIN PERFORMANCE OF ANY OBLIGATION UNDER THIS WARRANTY THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS MUST BE MET: 1. The product must be returned for inspection to Logan Clutch s plant within seven (7) days after failure. (Packaging of the returned merchandise shall conform to the same methods employed by Logan Clutch in shipping to Purchaser. Logan Clutch will not allow credit for returned products damaged beyond the original defects, which damage was occasioned by carelessness of the customer or third parties, or improper packaging for return.) 2. A complete written report containing the following information must accompany any request for adjustment: a. make or model; b. nature of defect; c. installation date; d. removal date; e. plans illustrating installation and application; and f. specifications for part in intended application 3. Logan Clutch has to determine that the product is defective in either material or workmanship. If Logan Clutch inspects the products and they are defective, Logan Clutch will replace or repair them without charge. 13
14 LOGAN CLUTCH CORPORATION WARRANTY III. LIABILITY LIMITATION Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Sections and Logan Clutch s liability for Purchaser s damages is limited in the event of a breach or repudiation of this contract or of any of the provisions by Logan Clutch. PURCHASER SHALL NOT BE ENTITLED TO RECOVER INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING THOSE ARISING UPON A BREACH OF IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, OR ANY LOSSES, COSTS, EXPENSES, LIABILITIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF USE OR PROFITS, DAMAGES TO PROPERTY, ALL LIABILITIES OF PURCHASER TO ITS CUSTOMERS OR THIRD PERSONS, AND ALL OTHER SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES) WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT, AND WHETHER RESULTING FROM, OR CONTRIBUTED TO BY THE DEFAULT OR NEGLIGENCE OF LOGAN CLUTCH, ITS AGENTS, EMPLOYEES OR SUBCONTRACTORS, WHICH MIGHT BE CLAIMED AS THE RESULT OF THE USE, MISUSE OR FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT DELIVERED. Additionally, Purchaser shall not be entitled to recover any costs for materials expended or used, initiated at the request of Purchaser. Logan Clutch s liability on its warranty shall in no event exceed its cost of correcting the defects in the equipment sold or replacing the same with nondefective parts. IV. IDEMNIFICATION Purchaser agrees to l0 indemnify and hold harmless Logan Clutch from and against all claims for bodily injury, illness, death or property damage, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses, including attorney fees, arising from (1) the use or misuse of the product by a customer or any other party; or (2) arising out of the performance of this contract. V. STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section the parties agree that an action for breach of this agreement, or any other cause of action arising from this agreement, must be commenced if at all within one year from when the cause of action accrued. VI. EFFECT OF CONTRACT A. CONTRACT BINDING. This contract shall be binding on and inure to the benefit of the parties and their respective heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors, and assigns when permitted by this contract. B. LEGAL CONSTRUCTION. In case any one or more of the provisions contained in this contract are held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable in any respect, the invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability shall not affect any other provision and this contract shall be construed as if the invalid, illegal, or unenforceable provision had never been contained in it.
