1 IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL DEPARTMENT OF COMPLIANCE VEHICLE SAFETY AND RECALL MANAGEMENT BUILDING N MAIN ST MIDDLEBURY, INDIANA NHTSA RECALL: 16V465 CANADA RECALL: <<VIN>> <<OWNER NAME/DEALERNAME>> <<ADDRESS>> <<CITY>>, <<ST>> <<ZIP-XXX>> This Notice applies to your vehicle VIN listed above. Dear Forest River Customer: O Integrity O Safety O Quality O Customer Service <<DATE>> This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (US) and the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (Canada). Forest River Office of Corporate Compliance ( OCC ) has decided that a noncompliance exists in certain Forester FRC2401RSD, FRC2401SD and FRC2401WSD, Sunseeker DSC24RSLED, SSC2400BSD, SSC2400RSD, SSC2400SD and SSC2400WSD, Solera DSC24BSLED, DSC24RSLED, DSC24SLED and DSC24WSD and Isata 3 ISC24FWM and ISC24RWM Class C Motor Homes, FMVSS / CMVSS 108, Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment. WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE? These motorhomes were built on Mercedes-Benz Class C Chassis and are manufactured with a third party module that controls the vehicle taillights, stoplights, signal lights, clearance lights, and marker lights. The module that controls the critical lighting functions may over-heat and split open due to the potting material not allowing air flow to cool the module, allowing misting water to saturate the module s internal electrical components as the demand of a towed vehicle or trailer consumes energy while traveling. This may cause the rear lights to cease function on the vehicle. This failure will also directly affect any towed object s lighting powered through the module. EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL. If the rear brake lights fail to illuminate, following motorists may not realize that the vehicle in front of them is stopping. Inoperative taillights, clearance lights, and marker lights will make the vehicle less visible to others. Any of these conditions can increase the risk of a crash. WHAT IS FOREST RIVER AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO? The remedy for this recall available upon receipt of this letter. Forest River is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy.
