1 22 Recycler Changes The steel deck Recycler line is virtually all-new for PRODUCT CHANGES Housing, 2009 The housing has changed for both the front and rear wheel drive models. The cutting chamber is the same at 22 but the front and rear of the housing has changed. The front drive and rear drive models no longer share the same housing, neither of which is interchangeable with older models. (RWD model shown)

2 Height of Cut Plates, 2009 The height of cut plates have been changed to accommodate the new one piece handle and the new bag anchors. Side Discharge Door, 2009 We have modified the door so we can pass all the safety tests without a latch, so the latch has been removed for Pinion Gears, 2009 FWD and RWD models use the General Transmission for The drive pinions on the end of the axle no longer perform as wheel clutches, and simply have a double D shape so the axle can drive them. Retaining rings keep the pinions in place. Since the clutches are internal to the transmission the axle pinions do not require lubrication.

3 Control Cables, 2009 The control cables have been moved to the left hand handle to clear the path for the operator s hand when pulling the starter rope. FWD 22 Recycler, 2009 Let s start with front wheel drive models. FWD 22 Recycler Handle Those customers who bag often will appreciate the one piece handle. With no handle cross bar the grass bag can be installed and removed more easily. This handle also allows a shorter carton which means we can stack one more row in a truck to help offset higher shipping costs.

4 FWD 22 Recycler Bag Anchors The bag anchors are now on the height of cut plates and are larger for ease in installing the bag. FWD 22 Recycler Transmission Upgrade We have used the General Transmission for two years in limited production with great success. It will be used on all 22 Recyclers for The case is a composite material with plastic gears running in oil. The gear case is well sealed to prevent linkage. We will not offer internal service parts. If a failure occurs, replace the transmission. FWD 22 Recycler Transmission Upgrade cont. Front wheel drive and rear wheel drive transmissions are significantly different. The FWD transmission uses a single-piece axle and there is a single internal clutch to ease pullback forces. The RWD transmission has two axles and clutches.

5 RWD 22 Recycler, 2009 The rear wheel drive models share many changes with the FWD models: one piece handle, side discharge door, cables moving to the left side, and bag anchor location. RWD 22 Recycler Bag On Demand The Bag on Demand (BOD) feature provided the opportunity to do a major rework of the bag and the way it mounts to the mower. RWD 22 Recycler BOD cont. The rear of the mower housing is now flat. The front of the bag is flat also, improving the ability of the bag to seal to the housing.

6 RWD 22 Recycler BOD cont. The Bag on Demand handle on the right side of the mower opens and closes a bag door. Close this door and you are mulching; open it to bag. No complicated interlocks are necessary here. Either the bag is over the opening or the outer door is held closed by springs. We would not recommend using the mower with the bag off and the BOD door open. Grass would hit the outer door and drop leaving a trail of clippings. RWD 22 Recycler Transmission Upgrade The General Transmission used on RWD modles features a LH and RH axle with separate internal clutches. RWD 22 Recycler Transmission Upgrade cont. On each side of the bevel gear is a ratchet type clutch. The worm shaft rotates the bevel gear. When the bevel gear turns it causes the internal ratchet to be pushed outward. The teeth then engage with the outer ratchet, which is pinned to the axle, and both axles drive the mower forward. When the operator turns a corner the outer wheel must turn faster. When it does, the outer ratchet pushes the inner ratchet away to disengage. When the wheel slows down the ratchet re-engages.
