Rotate the Pipe forward so it connects with the centre of the slot on the Latch. You might have to move the latch arm back & forth in the slotted bolt holes to align The swing arm should strike the ramp plate of the latch holder at least half way up. If it doesn't hit the ramp at the proper point pull it up with an overhead crane and check it again p0

They include the auto-fold cylinders used on all Strawmasters and cylinders only used on hydraulic adjustable models. Move it back Auto-fold latch adjustment After awhile the cable will stretch and the latch won t open to free the swing arm. To adjust, have the wings out but the harrow sections vertical (not dropped down yet). With the swing arm pipe in the latch and the latch open just enough for the swing arm to clear adjust the nut on the eyebolt. That is the correct amount of tension for the cable. p

34 Auto-fold procedure: transport to field A Remove transport pin & place in holder Move the 0 & 0 ft model s truss arm out into field position Cable taught, latch open B Turn the transport wheel s spindle over so the wheel leans out C Back-up slowly. The wings will open up. Ensure there is lots of room behind and to the sides. Back-up evenly so you don t damage the transport wheels Lower the harrow sections by extending the auto-fold cylinders. The auto-fold latch will Cable slack latch closed close on the swing arm pipe D If the auto-fold latch still hasn t closed back up just a bit more. It should then snap shut p

36 Remember straw should be dry. If machine leaves clumps of straw, apply slight down pressure by extending hydraulic lift cylinders. Remember: actual settings will vary with tine wear. Breaking & spreading straw For best results operate at 0 - mph The straw built up in the harrow sections helps to achieve maximum rub action to break down straw. TOUGH STRAW Advance the tine angle to a more aggressive setting (- cranks of the harrow section jacks). This will hold straw for a longer period of time, allowing for a more even distribution of residue. Chemical incorporation Increasing downward pressure will help break the soil crust and place the granule in contact with moist soil. Avoid straw build up in the first two rows of tines. This makes for a more even granule or seed broadcast. IMPORTANT: Always follow label directions for chemical herbicides. R Valmar Airflow offers all the necessary hardware required to neatly install their applicator on the R Strawmaster 000. The Valmar Airflow Model can be used with both 0 and 0 Strawmasters. The Model 0 can be used on the 0 and 0 Strawmasters. Raking MACHINE PREPARATION Remove auto-fold cable pins on the x beam side. Loop the unfastened end of each cable around the cart frame and clip together (or remove autofold cable completely). By simply removing one bolt on each axle, remove both transport wheel assemblies. THE FIELD Work the field at degrees to the seeding line. In order to rake flax straw some down pressure is required. Before built-up straw starts to spill out the back of the machine dump straw load by lifting harrow Field packing To avoid deep ridges in your field, reduce down pressure and operate at lower speeds; -6 mph. If packing is done after seeding, make sure to check that seed is not being disturbed. To prevent tine damage, avoid tight turning. Horsepower requirements Strawmaster 000 Minimum Ideal 0 ft hp 0 hp Horsepower requirements will vary depending on operation speed, the amount of down pressure applied and the task at hand. p

37 Maintenance START UP & ONGOING Grease all fittings. TORQUE p TINE REPLACEMENT Replace tines if they are 6" or less. Try to avoid replacing one tine at a time. When replacing tines do one pipe at a time or label the pipes so you don t get mixedup. HOOK UP Use a drawbar pin with a mechanical retainer and a safety chain. Match pressure and return line to one valve bank. Store jack horizontally for field use. HITCH & TRAILER HEIGHT As the tines wear down you ll need to lower the trailer height. It always has to be level. STORING Oil exposed piston rods on hydraulics. Touch up paint nicks. Check all bolt tightness. Retorque bolts. Repeat after a days use and check for hydraulic leaks. Adjust hitch height; Set trailer so it is parallel to ground. Tine length wear. Check tire pressure. Oil level in tractor s hydraulic reservoir. Inspect lines, hoses, fitting & couplers. 39 SAFETY TRANSPORT KILLED, INJURED or SAFE? your choice You are responsible for your own safety. If you don t know basic agriculture & industrial safety, find out. Owners of equipment must by law give operating instructions to other operators such as family members or a hired hand. Making any design changes to equipment could cause a hazard and damage your machine. Wear proper safety equipment. Have handy first aid kit & fire extinguisher. Before working on machine: Turn tractor off Set controls in neutral Remove ignition key Clean all reflectors and lights. HYDRAULIC Keep all parts clean Replace worn or damaged parts Don t try any makeshift repairs Before operating check that everything is tight and not broken Wear gloves and eye protection when searching for leaks. Use a piece of wood or cardboard but not your hand. High pressure oil will penetrate your skin. If that happens you risk serious injury. 40 WARRANTY Degelman Industries warrants this product to the original owner for a period of one () year parts and labour and two () years parts from the date of purchase. All matters related to the warranty of our products must be handled through the authorised selling dealer. Warranty does not cover normal wear of the machine components or damages caused by lack of maintenance or misuse, and is subject to the following provisions. REPLACEMENT PARTS: Will be warranted for a period of ninety (0) days. WARRANTY ON MACHINES USED FOR CUSTOM WORK, RENTALS OR INDUSTRIAL USE: Will be warranted as stated above, with the exception that it will be for a period of ninety (0) days only. TIRES: Will be adjusted for warranty by tire manufacturer. LABOUR: Any labour subject to warranty must be authorised by a Degelman representative before work is started. Warranty labour allowance and rates will be handled according to established warranty service policy. GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION: Warranty terms and conditions are subject to Provincial or State legislation. MODIFICATIONS: Warranty will be void if any component is altered or modified, unless written authorisation is granted by Degelman Industries Limited.
