1 MEDIUM VOLTAGE AIR INSULATED ARC-RESISTANT LOAD BREAK AND DISCONNECT SWITCHES Description JRS arc-resistant fused/non-fused load break and fused/non-fused disconnect switches are available for applications ranging from 5kV to 25kV in 600 A and 1200 A load interrupting ratings and up to 4000 A for non-load break disconnect switches. JRS supplies custom-engineered designs for tight spaces and builds extremely rugged equipment for harsh environments. JRS integrates equipment from a multitude of equipment suppliers while providing quick turnaround. Standard features include: Type 2 arc-resistant construction Heavy duty, mostly welded steel construction Heavy duty hardware welded on (not bolted on) for added strength Design allows for close couple bus coordination to a transformer Key interlock between the operating handle and the fuse access door Reinforced viewing window to confirm the position of the switch blades Modular design allows for addition of new sections at either end of existing lineup Manually or electrically operated load break or disconnect switches, from different manufacturers Indoor and outdoor designs available As these units are custom designed, JRS is able to offer a wide variety of options. 2 MEDIUM VOLTAGE AIR INSULATED ARC-RESISTANT LOAD BREAK AND DISCONNECT SWITCHES 15KV 600A Arc-resistant load break switch line up with separate main cable termination compartment Construction Details JRS has in-house metal enclosure design and manufacturing capabilities allowing flexibility with equipment design and dimensions. Typical enclosures feature: Heavy steel construction: 10 (ga) sheeting, ¼ inch wall structural tubing, ¼ & ½ inch stiffening angles. Paint: Phosphate wash, white enamel inside, ANSI grey epoxy outside For outdoor applications a zinc rich primer is used for additional corrosion resistance Tin plated insulated copper bus Modular construction: Lineup can be extended from either side without any additional modifications. Custom designed heavy duty thumb screws to allow for the fastening of the door without the use of hand tools Heavy duty top lifting lugs Arc by-products venting prevents excessive pressure within switchgear 15 kv Arc-Resistant Load Break Switch Testing and Warranty JRS submits 100% of custom-designed and built equipment to rigorous in-house testing. Standard testing: - Power frequency voltage 1 min. dry withstand - Point to point testing for control wiring - Contact resistance test Additional tests (Optional): - Heat rise - BIL test - FAT as per customer test plan - Partial discharge test Warranty is 12 months from date of placement in service or 18 months from date of shipping. Extended warranties are also available. 4 SEL-JBX SERIES MINE-DUTY MEDIUM-VOLTAGE JUNCTION BOX Description JRS SEL-JBX series junction boxes are used to provide a convenient point for termination, connection, and splitting of medium-voltage mining cables. The JRS junction box is designed for use in harsh mining applications and features a high-strength enclosure and door, rugged door hinges or bolted door with mounting lips, conservative electrical clearances and corrugated standoffs for use in dusty or humid environments, and optional high-voltage indicators with viewing windows for increased safety.
