1 The Auto Touch Independent Max (ATiMX) valve brings pressure independent control technology to valves up to 6 and flow rates up to 468 GPM. It is a state-of-the-art control valve combining a high quality/ high rangeability temperature control valve with a dynamically balanced flow regulator in the same space-saving housing. The result is a pressure independent control valve that maintains the desired flow rate irrespective of the pressure differential across the valve. Even the most controllable standard (pressure dependent) temperature control valve will allow a change in flow as the differential pressure in the system changes, which is an everyday occurrence. Any time a chilled water or hot water system is operating at less than design maximum load conditions which is most of the time differential pressures in the system tend to increase, resulting in overflow through the control valves. This overflow condition results in control instability, and higher pumping costs. Balancing valves, either manual or automatic, can only prevent overflow at conditions above design maximum flow. At any flow condition less than design maximum, balancing valves do not fulfill any purpose. The ATiMX valve provides a cost effective means of controlling hot water and chilled water flow in an accurate and stable manner while minimizing pumping, heating and cooling costs. And by combining the automatic temperature control function and the dynamic balancing function in a single device, installation costs are also reduced. 2 ATi Max - Specifications ATi MAX GENERAL DESCRIPTION ATi Max Series Valves are self-balancing, dynamic flow control valves that are pressure-independent, two-way, modulating to accept digital or analog input signals. The valves accept 0-10V DC, 2-10V DC, 0-20mA, 4-20mA or 2-position / 3-point floating input signals. Each valve has an adjustable maximum flow rate setting to enable flow limitation and balancing to the coils or zones that the valves are controlling. All ATi Max actuators are microprocessor-based with a self-calibrating feature. Inlet pressure is transferred through an internal channel to a diaphragm in the pressure compensating section. This diaphragm is opposed by a spring. The force-balance principle moves the diaphragm to create a constant ΔP across the control section, which results in constant flow at any valve position, irrespective of pressure changes in the system. The maximum flow rate is established by controlling the stroke of the actuator. ATi Max - Valve Sizing Unlike conventional control valve sizing where valves are sized to a Cv, the ATi Max valves are simply sized for flow and pipe size. Refer to the ordering table for the wide range of flow values available. IMPORTANT: Valve diameter should NEVER exceed pipe diameter! ATi Max - Installation Contrary to traditional static balancing systems, dynamic balancing requires no main branch balancing valves. Principle of Operation ATi Max valves contain a diaphragm component mounted on a counter-acting coil spring which adjusts the pressure differential across a pre-set valve opening. The combined components operate very similar to two valves in series, where one is a pressure differential regulator and one an adjustable orifice. This is illustrated below. When the ATi Max valve is used at each terminal, the total flow rate of the branch will automatically be limited to the sum of the flow rates of the circuit. The ATi Max valve can be installed either in the supply or in the return line. The valve should be positioned for easy access to the adjustment and pressure measurement devices. Unlike traditional balancing valves, placement of the ATi Max does not require lengths of pipe before or after the valve. ATi Max - Piping top pressure port is upstream, the bottom port is downstream. AM-3

Multi turn actuator: Six full 360 rotations make the ATi Max the most accurate valve in the industry. PROGRAMMING MENU The programming menu is always accessible. To enter the programming menu, please simultaneously press and for 6 seconds, until bottom line blinks. Alarm Indicator Operational Information Generally, press to accept value and go to next step and press button to go to previous step. To change the value, please press or keys, for quick scroll through values hold down the button. Press and simultaneously for 6 sec. to exit programming menu. Battery Level!
