See: Detach tapered roller bearing from differential. * Fit tapered roller bearing to differential AR35.30-D A. 7 Remove joint flange (3) at drive pinion (10) AR35.30-D A * * Drive the drive pinion (10) out of axle Check tapered roller bearing and replace and remove with compression ring (6) if necessary. See: Pull off and press on tapered roller bearing AR35.30-D A at drive pinion. * Drive out outer tapered roller bearing (5) (at Check parts, replace if necessary. flange) and radial shaft sealing ring (4) 10 Drive out pinion-side tapered roller bearing outer race of inner tapered roller bearing (9) Check parts, replace if necessary. and remove with spacer washer (8) Install 11 Measure basic dimension at differential. 2 Notes on labeling rear axle gear assembly AH35.30-N A 12 Determine thickness of spacer washers (18) AR35.30-D A for ring gear with differential (17) at rear axle Preload of differential bearing *BE35.30-N B 13 Determine difference dimension of drive AR35.30-D H pinion (10) * Drive pinion end face machining changed * BT35.30-D A 14 Measuring basic dimension at rear axle AR35.30-D H and determining thickness of shim for correcting basic dimension Specified basic dimension for rear axle *BE35.30-N B Basic dimension for rear axle drive AR35.30-D A 15 Install drive pinion (10) with outer/tapered Replace compression ring (6). AR35.30-D H roller bearing (5, 9) compression ring (6) and shim (8) in the rear axle * Install new radial shaft sealing ring (4) on Check sealing surface in rear axle drive pinion (10) for damage, rework if necessary. Pack space of radial shaft sealing ring between dust lip and sealing lip with multipurpose grease * * * Multipurpose grease *BR00.45-Z A 17 Install joint flange (3) at drive pinion (10) Install new collar nut (1). The total friction AR35.30-D B moment must not be reached by loosening the collar nut (1). If the permissible total friction moment has been exceeded, the compression ring (6) has been replaced. For this purpose, remove drive pinion (10). Friction torque of bearing of drive pinion with *BE35.30-N B radial shaft sealing ring * * Check basic dimension again at rear axle The basic dimension engraved on the AR35.30-D H ring gear must be achieved. 19 Secure collar nut (1) AR35.30-D A 20 Install ring gear with differential (17) in rear AR35.30-D H axle * Gear backlash of rear axle drive * *BA35.30-N A *BE35.30-N B 21 Check contact pattern of ring gear and If necessary, carry out the required AR35.30-D H pinion corrections with revised spacers. * Prussian Blue 22 Mount cover (12) with new Clean sealing surfaces. cover seal (11) on rear axle *BR00.45-Z A *BA35.25-N A 23 Install both rear axle shafts Rear axle /415 AR35.30-D-0620H Rear axle /414/416/420 AR35.30-D-0620B 24 Connect propeller shaft to joint flange (3) *BA41.10-N B Notes on installing propeller shaft 25 Pour in oil at rear axle Rear axle - oil change AH41.10-N A AP35.00-D-3501A Page 2 of 5
