4 ASI Control Top Option ASI stands for Actuator - Sensor - Interface. ASI is a standardised modular cabling system for communication between sensors (eg. proximity switches) and actuators (valves). With the ASI system, sensors and actuators are connected by a single 2-wire cable - power supply included. By replacing traditional wiring with the ASI system expanding cable loops and bulky control cabinets can be eliminated. With a common operator (manually or pneumatically driven) the two valve discs are simultaneously switched - one disc closing while the other opens and vice versa. Two completely separate butterfly discs are switched in parallel by a common operator (manually or pneumatically driven) providing a double barrier. Additionally, the integrity of the seals can be monitored by means of the leakage valve outlet ensuring that any seal failure can be detected and remedied without unwanted mixing occurring. The combination of these two safety features ensures optimum protection against mixing. An integral CIP rinsing valve is available for the cleaning of the leakage chamber. 5 1.1.8 I Electrically Actuated Butterfly Valves On request all Saniquip butterfly valves can be delivered in an electrically actuated execution. Electric actuators are typically used in situations where the valve is required to remain in the current position, even in the event of power failure, or where compressed air is unavailable or costly to provide. It should be noted that electric actuators generally operate considerably more slowly than pneumatic actuators and should therefore not be selected in situations where prompt switching of valve position is a requirement I Hygienic Butterfly Control Valves Micrometric Butterfly Valves Saniquip micrometric butterfly valves are manually operated valves which offer an economical means of providing fine process control. The stainless steel micrometric handle incorporates a worm gear arrangement which allows fine adjustment of the butterfly disc position while also ensuring that the disc does not move from the chosen set position. A scale permanently marked on top of the micrometric handle aids setting and adjustment. Saniquip micrometric butterfly valves are available in sizes from ½ to 4. Modulating Butterfly Control Valves The Saniquip A-series pneumatically operated butterfly valves can be fitted with a digital electropneumatic positioner (4-20 ma signal) as a modular addition to the standard pneumatic actuators. An optional integrated process controller can also be incorporated. Please note: By virtue of their design butterfly valves do not make the best control valves but they are suitable for certain simple control duties - mainly those where linear control characteristics are not required, where control parameters can be slowly changed, or where there is a low pressure differential. For superior and/or linear control please refer to sections to for information on Saniquip single seat flow control valves with parabolic plug or section 1.6. for information on Saniquip diaphragm control valves. 1.2 Hygienic Ball Valves I 2-Way Slimline Ball Valves Saniquip slimline ball valves are high quality ball valves manufactured from forged AISI 304L or 316L stainless steel. The slimline two piece design provides a compact and economical solution while maintaining all the advantages of a full port design with zero flow restriction. 6 1.2.4 I Double Seat Mixproof Ball Valves - Pneumatically Operated The Saniquip pneumatically operated double seat mixproof ball valves are an excellent choice in applications where it is necessary to ensure the safe separation of media that must not mix. Standard connections are either butt weld for tube or sanitary clamp type. Available sizes range from ½ to 4 and several different flow configuration options are available. 1.3 Hygienic Plug Cock Valves - 3A Approved The Saniquip 11 series hygienic plug cocks (3A approved) are manufactured in AISI 304L and AISI 316L stainless steel materials and are highly polished. The thrust washer is in food grade PTFE and all seals are FDA compliant. The plug cocks provide a full unrestricted flow path and offer a versatile flow control solution. They are available in 2-way and 3-way executions and in a full range of sizes from 1 to 4. Standard execution is with the plug in stainless steel, hard chrome coated and precision ground & lapped, to ensure smooth operation and good sealing. On request a special version with FDA approved rubberized plug can also be offered. It should be noted that due to their design plug cocks are only suitable for use in relatively low pressure applications to a maximum working pressure of 4 bar. 1.4 Hygienic Single Seat Valves - Manual & Pneumatically Operated I Pneumatically Operated Single Seat Shut-Off & Divert Valves The Saniquip 800 series hygienic single seat valves are a high quality precision manufactured valve range and are 3A approved. 7 I Manually Operated Single Seat Valves Saniquip single seat shut-off and divert valves in the standard 1 to 4 sizes can also be offered in manually operated execution. The actuator is replaced by a rapid pitch manual operator with position locking facility. The manually operated valves feature the same ball shaped body parts, free draining design and highly polished 316L stainless steel wetted parts as the pneumatic valves. They are 3A approved and can also be delivered in a regulating execution with parabolic plug (see 1.4.6) I Aseptic PTFE Diaphragm & Bellows Options (Single Seat Valves) Saniquip single seat valves, in both manual and pneumatic versions, can also be offered in executions with aseptic PTFE diaphragm or bellows. The aseptic single seat valves combine the benefits of aseptic diaphragm type sealing with standard seat valve technology. The hermetic seal around the valve stem ensures that the product is completely isolated from the external environment. These valves are suitable for SIP steam sterilization and can be offered in a full range of sizes from ½ to 4. Various options such as control head and special surface finishes are also available I Tank Bottom Execution (Single Seat Valves) In addition to the wide range of traditional body configurations, Saniquip single seat valves can also be offered in a tank bottom execution with weld-in flange type tank connection. The single seat tank bottom valves are available in manual or pneumatically operated executions and in sizes from 1 to 4. The pneumatic valves are available in two different versions. With the first version (830 series) the valve plug opens downward into the valve housing whereas with the second version (840 series) the valve plug opens upwards into the tank. A full range of options and accessories are available. 830 Series 840 Series I Manual Single Seat Flow Control Valves The Saniquip 62 series single seat flow control valves are used as a manual means to accurately control flow and pressure in hygienic process systems. The valves incorporate a parabolic plug profile such that the gradual linear movement provides precise control over increases or decreases in flow. The linear flow characteristic means that any adjustment to the plug position results in a proportionate increase or reduction to the flow rate (provided the pressure drop remains unchanged). The Saniquip single seat control valves are 3A approved. Standard size range 1 to 3 (refer Saniquip for alternative options in smaller or larger sizes) All product contact surfaces in AISI 316L stainless steel Ball shaped body parts Body connected to bonnet by quick release clamp for quick and easy assembly and disassembly A wide range of FDA compliant seal materials available Free draining design Highly polished internal surfaces for ease of cleaning I Automatic Single Seat Control Valves with Position Controller The Saniquip SZ7 series valves are a proportional pneumatically actuated version of the seat valve predominantly used in hygienic flow and pressure control applications. The valve is fitted with a parabolic plug which can be delivered in linear or equal percentage profiles. The standard electropneumatic positioner fitted to this valve range is the Burkert 8630 TopControl Continuous. The electropneumatic positioner takes an input signal, such as 4-20 ma, either from the PLC or directly from an in-line instrument. The integral position sensor instantly controls the operating position to keep the valve in the position determined by the user (PD function) or by a process parameter (PID function). The SZ7 valves are manufactured in sizes from 1 to 4. Double bodied 3-port executions for proportionate control of diverging or converging flows can be offered on request I Modulating Control Valves with Diaphragm Actuator The Saniquip PMV series valves are traditional hygienic flow or pressure regulating valves equipped with a stainless steel diaphragm style pneumatic actuator and positioner. The operation of the diaphragm actuator is reversible (i.e. spring to open or spring to close). The positioner is available in pneumatic execution (3-15 psi signal) or electropneumatic execution (4-20 ma signal). The ball shaped valve body ensures gentle product handling. An aseptic version with PTFE or stainless steel bellows is also available. The PMV valves are manufactured in sizes from ¾ to 4. 5

8 1.5 Hygienic Mixproof / Double Seat Valves - Pneumatically Operated I Safe Flow Double Seal Valves The Saniquip 870 series Safe Flow double seal valves are designed as a simple and cost-effective means of providing safe media separation and leak detection in hygienic process applications. A fixed one piece valve plug is fitted with two separate seals - one on the conical part near the top of the plug and a second sealing radially near the bottom of the plug. The space between these two seals forms a leakage chamber providing a significant degree of safety against any mixing of different fluids. This neutral leakage chamber area is fitted with leakage valves allowing detection of any leakage due to seal damage. The leakage valves can also be used for flushing allowing CIP of the leakage chamber. The leakage valves are activated at the same time as the main valve actuator so there is no need for separate controls. The Saniquip 870 series Safe Flow valves are 3A approved. The 900 series valves ensure that separation of different media (e.g. product and CIP) is maintained, even in the event of seal failure. Independent upper and lower seat lift functions allow CIP cleaning of the leakage chamber at the same time as either the upper or the lower line. A variant with external cleaning system for the leakage chamber and drain can be offered on request. Standard execution is with low level product loss to drain during valve switching. An optional zero product loss version is also available. The balanced plug design offers protection against water hammer and pressure spikes. All 900 series valves conform to 3A requirements. The valves, in their various configurations, are commonly used for shut-off, flow regulating and sampling duties. The diaphragm valve has a flexible diaphragm which is sandwiched between the body and the bonnet and acts as both the body seal and the seat seal. This design makes it ideally suited to aseptic applications as neither the product, nor any wetted part, comes into contact with the external environment. Maintenance requirements are minimal and the top entry design means that there is no need to remove the valve from the pipework for service. When correctly installed weir type diaphragm valves are fully self-draining. Standard size range from ¼ to 2½ (3 variant also available) Body material forged AISI 316L stainless steel as standard Stainless steel bonnet standard for manual valves. Suitable for most applications the CC non-return valves offer hygienic design and reliable performance. As standard they are manufactured in AISI 316L stainless steel with food grade EPDM seals (silicone or viton seal options are also available). A stainless steel diaphragm plate with a large open area ensures low pressure loss. Where feasible vertical installation is recommended. Horizontal installation is also permissible but the valve will then not be fully self-draining. Saniquip CC non-return valves are available in sizes from 1 to 4. A special thick walled version of the centre clamp non-return valve (64 series) can also be offered on request. The 64 series valves feature a floating PTFE seat ring and PTFE body gasket (both FDA compliant) making them suitable for a wide range of different media. 10 1.8.4 I Large Diameter Non-Return Valves The Saniquip large diameter hygienic non-return valves are spring type non-return valves in a robust 3-piece bolted design. They are an excellent means of preventing reverse flow in large diameter lines. They are manufactured in AISI 304 or 316L stainless steel and in sizes to suit 5, 6 and 8 O.D. tube sizes. Standard seals are in FDA compliant EPDM with other seal materials available on request I Non-Return Valves for Horizontal Installation - Self Drainable The Saniquip SPH series non-return valves are designed for high purity pharmaceutical and biotech applications and are fully traceable for validation purposes. The unique body design means that the valve is selfdrainable EVEN WHEN INSTALLED HORIZONTALLY. The valve is machined in two pieces from solid AISI 316L round bar. All product contact surfaces have a finish of Ra 0.5 micron or better as standard. The SPH series nonreturn valves are sterilizable and autoclavable and meet the applicable 3A and FDA requirements. The body seal arrangement utilizes aseptic sealing technology for maximum hygiene and cleanability. As standard the seals are in silicone material but alternative seal materials are also available. The valves are suitable for use with liquids, gases or steam and are available in a wide range of sizes from ½ to Constant Pressure Valve The Saniquip SCP constant pressure valves offer a simple method of maintaining a constant inlet or outlet pressure in process lines. They are remotely controlled using compressed air and require only a compressed air regulating valve and pressure gauge in the line for operation. An internal diaphragm and plug assembly reacts to any change in product pressure adjusting its position so that the preset pressure is maintained. Two versions are available: Model SCP-1 maintains a constant pressure in the process line at the inlet side of the valve. This valve opens with increasing product pressure and closes with reducing product pressure. Model SCP-2 maintains a constant pressure in the process line at the outlet side of the valve. The valve closes with increasing product pressure and opens with reducing product pressure. All product contact surfaces are in AISI 316L stainless steel. The diaphragm is in PTFE covered EPDM rubber (FDA compliant). As standard the SCP constant pressure valves are available in sizes from 1 to 2½. A variant on the SCP-1 valve can be offered in larger sizes up to 4 on request. SCP-1 Reduced Product Pressure Reduced Product Pressure SCP-2 Increased Product Pressure Increased Product Pressure 1.10 Combined Hygienic Vacuum/Pressure Valves for Tanks I Stainless Steel Vacuum/Pressure Valves Series The Saniquip 645 series vacuum/pressure valves are hygienic spring loaded breather valves designed to protect against damage due to vacuum or overpressurization in tanks. In its natural state the valve keeps the tank internals sealed from the outside atmosphere. If the pressure inside the tank drops below atmospheric the valve opens to suck in air and equalize the negative pressure. If the pressure inside the tank goes above atmospheric pressure then the internal overpressure relief mechanism lifts to release the pressure and restore equilibrium. On request the valves can be delivered with an integrated purge port allowing purging of the tank top with inert gas. The valves are available in AISI 304L and 316L stainless steel and are highly polished. As standard they are delivered with sanitary clamp type tank connection and with seals in FDA compliant silicone material (EPDM and viton seal options are also available). They are manufactured in a range of sizes from 1½ to 4. Model 113 is manufactured in Polyethylene material and has a 1¼ BSP externally threaded tank connection. It is delivered with mating polyethylene nut and food grade gasket. 11 1.11 Hygienic Pressure Relief & Tank Safety Valves SQ I Standard Adjustable Spring Loaded Pressure Relief/By-Pass Valves The Saniquip SQ3 adjustable spring loaded pressure relief valves are designed as pressure relief and by-pass valves to protect lines, pumps and other process equipment from damage caused by plant pressure surges. Under normal operating conditions the valve remains closed. The valve is adjusted using the spring loader nut to relieve at a specific set pressure selected by the plant operator in order to avoid plant damage. If the line pressure exceeds the valve set pressure the valve will open relieving flow and reducing the line pressure. Several spring options are available to provide different set pressure adjustment ranges to a maximum of 10 bar. A lock nut allows the position of the spring loader nut to be securely fixed. For cleaning, backing off the loader nut will relieve the spring pressure and allow the opening of the valve plug during CIP. Alternatively an optional lever handle is available to enable manual seat lifting without altering the valve setting. The SQ3 valves can be offered in either AISI 304L or 316L stainless steel. As standard the seals are in EPDM material (FDA compliant). On request seals can also be offered in FDA compliant silicone, NBR, viton or PTFE materials. The standard valves are available in a full range of sizes from 1 to 4. Saniquip also offer fractionally sized adjustable spring loaded pressure relief valves which are available to suit ½ and ¾ line sizes. A compact design pharmaceutical grade version of the adjustable spring loaded pressure relief valve - the 701 series - is also available. The 701 series valve offers users the ability to seal the housing after setting the pressure so that there can be no possiblity of the pressure setting being tampered with or changed without authorisation I Pneumatic Lift Adjustable Spring Loaded Pressure Relief/By-Pass Valves The SQ3-1 adjustable spring loaded pressure relief/by-pass valves have the additional feature of an integrated pneumatic actuator providing a pneumatic seat lift function for CIP cleaning I Adjustable Lever Type Weight Loaded Pressure Relief Valves for Tanks Saniquip WLP valves are adjustable weight loaded lever type pressure relief valves for tanks and vessels. The design is essentially a simple and reliable counterbalance arrangement which can be set to open at various pressures according to the positioning of the weight on the lever. The WLP valves offer a high blow-off capacity for both air and liquids. They are manufactured in a very wide range of sizes from 1½ (DN40) to 6 (DN150) and are an ideal solution for the overpressure protection of large vessels. Options such as mating connection components, CIP seat lifting and heat trace can be offered on request I Hygienic Safety Valves for Design Verified Pressure Vessels The Saniquip spring loaded safety valves are of high quality German design and construction and are type test approved for use in design verified pressure vessels according to the European PED 97/23/ EC and AD 2000 regulations. The valves are manufactured in AISI 304L or AISI 316L stainless steel and have an internal surface finish of Ra 0.8 micron or better. The standard seals are in FDA compliant EPDM material with alternative seal material options available on request. The valves are certified for steam, gas, and liquid media with capacity information available. All valves are equipped with a manual seat lift device (handwheel or lever type) enabling the seat to be lifted during CIP cleaning. An execution with pneumatic seat lift actuator for CIP (model 92020) and optional proximity switch is also available. The Saniquip HyCom spring loaded safety valves are designed for processes with especially stringent cleaning requirements. These valves are also of high quality German design and construction and are type test approved for use in design verified pressure vessels according to the European PED 97/23/EC and AD 2000 regulations. The valves are manufactured in AISI 316L stainless steel and have an internal surface finish of Ra 0.8 micron or better. An optional Ra 0.4 micron or better pharmaceutical finish is also available. The spherical valve body is free of dead spots and offers minimized flow resistance. The standard seals are in FDA compliant EPDM material with alternative seal material options available on request. The valves are certified for steam, gas, and liquid media with capacity information available. Standard delivery is with aseptic flange type connections but other connection types are also available. A manual seat lift function can be offered on request. An execution with pneumatic seat lift actuator for CIP (model 10908) and optional proximity switch is also available. For the optimum in hygiene and cleanability the Saniquip Hycom spring loaded safety valves are also available in an execution with a weld-in flange type tank connection which is virtually pocket free. This execution eliminates any remaining dead spots and difficult to clean areas which could otherwise be caused by the use of traditional inlet connections such as welding unions or flanges. The valve features an integral, virtually pocket free, tank flange which is welded directly into the tank wall. This design offers significant hygienic advantages over safety valves with traditional inlet unions and can eliminate the need for a supplementary cleaning device

12 1.12 Hygienic Vacuum Valves Saniquip hygienic stainless steel vacuum valves are primarily fitted to tanks or vessels to minimize the risk of implosion due to vacuum created during emptying or cleaning regimes. They can be fitted to virtually any type of tank or to pipework and their hygienic design makes them suitable for use in a wide range of sanitary applications. Advantages include simple design, high operational reliability, and high response sensitivity due to the low friction mechanics of the valves. We offer several different executions in both spring loaded and weight loaded designs. Capacity information can be provided for most designs I Spring Loaded Vacuum Valves Spring loaded model is available in sizes from 25mm to 80mm and can be delivered in executions for either horizontal or vertical installation. Spring loaded model is available in sizes from 50mm to 150mm and is suitable for vertical installation only. On request this model can be delivered with a CIP connection and miniature cleaning device installed in the housing I Suspended Type Vacuum Valves Saniquip suspended type vacuum valves are designed for optimum performance and complete cleanability. They are manufactured in 50mm and 100mm sizes as standard and can be delivered with a CIP connection and miniature cleaning device installed in the housing. The valves can be fitted with a pneumatic seat lift actuator for seat lifting during CIP. They can also be delivered with a proximity switch installed to indicate the fully open position during cleaning or as a function check I Weight Loaded Vacuum Valves - Lever Type Saniquip lever type weight loaded vacuum valves are of a simple, reliable and compact design. They offer high throughput rates and are capable of equalizing large pressure differences in a short time making them an excellent choice for the protection of large tanks. The lever type vacuum valves are manufactured in a wide range of standard sizes from DN50 to DN300. Larger variants in DN400 and DN450 sizes can also be offered on request. These valves are commonly integrated into a tank top plate assembly or can be delivered with a mating counterflange for tank welding. Options such as integrated CIP system, splashguard and trace heating are also available Sample Valves I Hygienic Sample Valves - Diaphragm Sealed Saniquip SV1 sample valves offer an excellent hygienic design at a very competitive price. A food grade diaphragm in 3A compliant EPDM material serves as both body seal and seat seal. There is no product contact with the valve shaft/plunger arrangement behind the diaphragm. All product contact surfaces are in AISI 316 stainless steel and polished to a sanitary standard. The advanced design offers simplicity in terms of installation and maintenance while also eliminating retention areas for additional protection against bacteriological growth. Standard execution is with a 12.7mm O.D. welding connection I Flushable Aseptic Sample Valves - Diaphragm Sealed The Saniquip aseptic sample valves provide the optimum sampling solution for critical hygiene applications. They are manufactured in AISI 316L stainless steel with a highly polished surface finish. As standard the valves are fitted with an FDA compliant silicone diaphragm (PTFE on request) and an additional CIP or SIP flushing port. Features and advantages include: Zero dead leg. Once installed the sealing plug shuts off flush with the inlet port The diaphragm acts as both body seal and seat seal. There is no product contact with the valve shaft/plunger arrangement behind the diaphragm The additional flushing port is used to ensure that the valve internals are sterile prior to any sample being taken. It can be utilised as a CIP flushing port, as an SIP flushing port, or as a filling inlet for clients who prefer to cap off the outlet and keep the valve filled with sterilizing solution when not in use for sampling Two manual activation options are available - a PTFE turn knob or a stainless steel on/off lever handle Fully autoclavable Either welding or sanitary clamp type tank connection (Ingold connection also available on request) Flushing and outlet connections are standard miniature clamp ferrules eliminating the need for costly proprietary mating connection parts or caps. 13 I Dual Purpose Sample Valve Suitable for Syringe Penetration Sampling or Bulk Sampling The Saniquip 9116 series sample valves offer a cost-effective dual purpose sampling solution where the one device can be used for both disposable syringe penetration sampling and for bulk sampling. The valve is fitted with a specially designed gasket in FDA compliant silicone which acts as both the body seal and the seat seal. In the case of bulk sampling the handwheel is turned to open the valve and the sample is taken from the valve outlet. In the case of syringe penetration sampling the valve is left in the closed position and the needle is inserted into the hollow handwheel/housing arrangement and passed through the silicone gasket to take the sample. The gasket design is such that the hole will close up after the sample has been taken. Typically the gasket can be used for penetrations (approx.) before replacement becomes necessary. Standard delivery is with a 15mm welding connection but executions with a 40mm welding connection or a sanitary clamp connection are also available. Optionally the 9116 dual purpose sample valves can be delivered with an additional CIP flushing connection I Padlockable Sample Valves - BSP Threaded or Clamp Connection For customers requiring padlockable sample valves we offer two alternatives our model SV2TL with a ½ BSP male threaded connection or our model SV2CL with a ½ / ¾ clamp union connection. These valves are simple, economically priced options manufactured from AISI 316 stainless steel. The plug seal is in food grade PTFE while the stem is sealed by a food grade EPDM o-ring (other o-ring materials available on request) Rubber Septums Saniquip rubber septums are manufactured in FDA compliant grey butyl material and offer a simple and economical means of taking syringe penetration samples from process lines. The septums are installed directly into a 12mm hole in the line and are suitable for use with various different retaining systems Hygienic Air Release Valves Saniquip air release valves offer a simple automatic means of releasing trapped air from a process line or vessel without allowing the process liquid to flow out. The design is such that air is prevented from entering the line or vessel, even if subjected to negative pressure. It is a double seated valve with a floating polypropylene ball which closes against either the upper or the lower seat depending on the pressure conditions. In a pressure situation the ball is lifted from the lower seat and air is able to escape until the product lifts the ball against the upper seat closing the valve. In a negative pressure situation the ball is sucked closed against the lower seat. Air release valves are typically used to release air pockets from process pipework (installed on top of the line at the highest point) or to reduce pump cavitation (installed on top of the line on the suction side of a pump). A relatively low liquid flow velocity at the valve inlet is recommended for best positioning of the ball. Under certain flow conditions a small amount of product spitting can occur. A large 1 bore on both the inlet and the outlet side of the valve. Larger 1½ and 2 sizes also available Sanitary clamp process connection as standard Sanitary clamp valve body connection for quick and simple assembly and disassembly Replaceable ball and seal (various seal materials available) Hygienic stainless steel construction with polished internal surface finish 1.15 Hygienic Pinch Valves - Pneumatically Operated Valve closed Valve open The Saniquip hygienic pinch valves are full bore pneumatically operated valves. They are the optimum choice for use with liquid products containing solids in suspension and are also suitable for use with abrasive powders and granules. The full bore design means that the sorts of blockages and entrapment of solid particles likely to result from the use of other valve types can be avoided. The key component of the valve is a specially designed reinforced rubber sleeve with a high elastic return value and an excellent abrasion resistance. Applying compressed air (or a suitable inert gas or liquid) to the air inlet connection in the valve body presses the sleeve until it is closed shutting off the flow. The pressure of the compressed air or other closing media must be at least two bar greater than the line pressure. The valve design is such that watertight sealing can still be achieved even if the sleeve closes on to solid particles. This valve type is particularly popular in the wine industry in the transfer of whole or destemmed grapes. Seeds, skins and stalks present no difficulty during transfer and do not affect the positive shut-off of the valve. 14 2 Hygienic Sight Glasses & Liquid Level Gauge Fittings 2.1 Cylindrical In-Line Sight Glasses The Saniquip 95 series cylindrical in-line sight glasses are designed for installation in hygienic process lines to allow visual observation of the product flow. As standard the cylindrical viewing tube is in clear food grade polycarbonate material making this range an excellent choice for use in plants with a no glass policy. The viewing tube is also available in borosilicate glass where preferred for reasons of high temperature or product compatibility. All product contact metallic parts are manufactured from forged AISI 304L or 316L stainless steel with a polished surface finish. As standard the end connections are butt weld for tube but other connection options can be offered on request. An optional polycarbonate protective guard which fits around the outside of the tie rods is also available. The design minimizes dead space and ensures good cleanability. As standard the viewing discs are in borosilicate glass although alternative materials such as polycarbonate and acrylic can be offered on request. All product contact metallic parts are manufactured from forged AISI 304L or 316L stainless steel with a polished surface finish. The Saniquip cross type sight glasses are manufactured in sizes from 1½ to Flat Union Type Sight Glasses The Saniquip union type sight glasses are most commonly installed on tanks or vessels to allow visual inspection of the processes inside. The thick walled design ensures that there is no distortion during welding. As standard the viewing disc is in borosilicate glass although alternative materials such as polycarbonate and acrylic can be offered on request. The Saniquip union type sight glasses are available in sizes from 1 to 6 and can be fitted with a range of different illumination (light) options where required. 2.4 Flat Bolted Sight Glasses for Pressure Vessels According to DIN The Saniquip bolted sight glasses are most commonly installed on pressure vessels to allow visual inspection of the processes inside. The sight glass consists of a weld-in base flange, a borosilicate viewing disc, a cover flange, and the required gaskets, nuts and studs. These sight glasses are manufactured according to the dimensions and constructional guidelines of the DIN specification Adherence to these guidelines and the prescribed flange thicknesses ensures distortion free welding when correct procedures are followed. The viewing disc is manufactured from borosilicate glass according to DIN 7080 allowing a maximum operating temperature of up to 280 degrees (if used in conjunction with a special high temperature gasket option). All metallic parts can be delivered permanently marked and inclusive of material certificate 3.1B. The borosilicate glass disc is available with material certificate 2.2. The Saniquip bolted sight glasses are manufactured in sizes from DN50 to DN200. Executions suitable for 6 bar, 10 bar, or 16 bar maximum pressures can be offered. 2.5 Liquid Level Gauge Fittings The Saniquip liquid level gauge fittings are of highly polished stainless steel construction. The standard tank connection is 1 sanitary clamp type and the standard seals are in FDA compliant silicone material. A complete liquid level gauge assembly consists of an upper level gauge fitting, a lower level gauge fitting (which incorporates a drain valve) and the required length of viewing tube. The level gauge fittings are designed to suit 22.2mm O.D. viewing tube in either clear polycarbonate material or borosilicate glass. A special execution to suit 15.9mm O.D. viewing tube can also be offered on request. The viewing tube retaining nuts are of robust stainless steel construction and are therefore not prone to damage as plastic nuts can be. 12

In the standard 90 degree execution the side outlet is positioned very close to the end of the housing minimizing any potential dead flow area. For applications requiring only coarse filtration (1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm etc.) the filters are offered with a filtering insert manufactured from perforated stainless steel plate. Where finer filtration is required (eg. 50 micron, 100 micron, 150 micron, 200 micron, 500 micron) the filters are offered with a slotted tube or wedge wire type filtering insert. The wedge wire type filtering insert consists of v-shaped profiles welded very accurately on to cross support bars allowing precise control of the distance between the v-shaped profiles. This distance is referred to as the slot opening. The standard execution offered by Saniquip is for flow from inside to outside of the filtering insert. On request the opposite flow direction can also be offered. They are suitable for working pressures of up to 50 bar and are of high quality European design and manufacture. All stainless steel product contact surfaces are polished to a hygienic standard and all seals are manufactured from FDA compliant materials. They are designed to remove particulates and micro-particulates containing iron or steel from liquid or semi-liquid line flow systems. Powerful rare earth Neodymium magnet cores encapsulated in stainless steel cartridges effectively separate and trap these particulates until cleared by a plant operator. A quick release clamping arrangement allows for easy extraction of the internal cartridge for removal of the trapped particulates. The sump style housing ensures minimal pressure loss. Several designs are available to suit various applications and a wide range of line sizes. A special high pressure execution can be offered on request. Once installed the connection is flush with the tank wall with a zero dead leg allowing improved CIP/ SIP (cleaning in place/sterilization in place) performance. They project a particular pre-selected spray pattern based on the drilling arrangement of the holes in the ball. As they are stationary not all of the interior walls receive direct spray so they rely upon the liquid sheet that is generated by cascading liquid flowing down the walls to clean the areas in between. Fixed sprayballs are typically used for less demanding cleaning duties. Best results are achieved at relatively low pressures. Appropriately positioned slots in the flow head create fan shaped cleaning jets while also generating rotation. Rotary spray heads operate at relatively low pressure and are an effective means of cleaning the internal surfaces of tanks and vessels. They utilize high impact jet sprays to effectively clean all internal surfaces. The nozzles are driven by the cleaning fluid to carry out geared rotations on both the horizontal and vertical axis. This initially provides coarse 360 degree coverage of the tank internal surfaces with the coverage gradually becoming more dense until full coverage has been achieved. The cleaners are offered in executions with either 15 or 21 integral full cone spray nozzles providing complete coverage of all internal surfaces at pressures ranging from 4 to 10 bar. With a 35mm maximum diameter they are small enough to fit through standard barrel bung holes or drum mouths. The 16mm reduced neck diameter allows for drainage of the cleaning fluid through the bung hole or drum mouth when incorporated in barrel or drum cleaning systems. 20

Incorporating radial seated diaphragm valve technology and the TK-Connect system this is an ultra-clean valve, completely free draining and without any dead leg. It is most commonly installed adjacent to the piece of equipment to be cleaned, either welded to the bottom of the tank (to clean the underside of agitator blades) or on the side of the tank (to clean scrapers). For special applications top mounting is also a possibility. The body of the valve is equipped with a spray plate incorporating 48 specially oriented holes of 2.5mm diameter that facilitate the directional and conical projection of CIP solution into the tank. In the standard execution the valve is connected to the tank via a 3 independent TK-Connect welded flange (see catalogue section 8) with a special profile to accommodate the spray plate. On request the welding flange can be delivered with a radius to suit the curvature of the tank wall or in other customized executions. The VFA CIP cleaning valve is manufactured to pharmaceutical standards with a TK-Connect product contact surface finish of Ra 0.5 micron or better and the sealing membrane in TFM 1600 PTFE (FDA, 3A and USP Class VI compliant). It is delivered with permanent marking and certification for full traceability. The valve is a process line accessory suitable for use with clear or viscous liquids from group 2 in accordance with the European pressure equipment directive PED 97/23/EC. 13 Flowmeters 13.1 I Variable Area Flowmeters (Rotameters) Saniquip variable area flowmeters are installed vertically in process lines and are a simple and reliable flow indication device. The float inside the metering tube is lifted in proportion to the liquid flow and a reading is taken from the scale on the side of the tube. They are used for providing flow rate indication in process lines. The flowmeter is fitted with a specially calibrated stainless steel spring attached to the spring lock washer. The spring lock washer moves in proportion to the liquid flow and a reading is taken from the attached scale.
