There are so many options to pick and choose from, all of them similar ideas yet different designs. With the addition of fuel injected bikes, there became another fork in the road. Along with air cleaners and exhaust systems a person now has to figure a fuel management system to make their bike run efficiently after adding the power upgrades. has taken the guess work out of upgrading your power plant by offering the SuperPak. The SuperPak includes the exhaust system, the ProFilter, and the FiControl. You can choose which exhaust system is used with the kit and the FiControl digital fuel management unit has pre-programmed map downloads for each of their different pipe designs. The FiControl is easy to operate and easy to install. Watch as we install the new Super- Pak system on a 2005 Electra Glide Standard. Also, don t forget to check out the Dyno sheet at the end of the story that shows the 8.22 horsepower and 2.59 foot-pounds of torque that were gained americanbaggermag.com - July 07 Here is the 2005 Electra Glide Standard with the old exhaust system on. It has the stock head pipes with powder coated heat shields and a set of aftermarket slip-ons.

2 Super Trap:Layout 1 5/17/2007 8:59 PM Page To start the removal of the old exhaust system, remove the saddlebags and place them in a safe location. 3 a 2. With the saddlebags removed, the next step is to remove both the passenger and the rider floorboards. Removing the floorboards allows more room for removing the exhaust head pipe Next, remove the two nuts holding the slip-on muffler onto the exhaust hanger bracket. This step is done on both sides of the bike In order to remove each slip-on muffler, loosen the front clamp With both the slip-on mufflers loose, remove them from the bike Next, we removed the heat shields that interfere with the removal of the exhaust stud nuts Loosen the exhaust clamp at the starter mount. Loosening this clamp allows us to remove the left side crossover pipe. 10. This is the bracket that is usually forgotten and has been known to cause some swear p words. 4 Super Trap:Layout 1 5/17/2007 9:00 PM Page a The next step is to remove the exhaust flanges and clips from the stock head pipe and install them onto the new 2-into With the exhaust flanges attached to the new pipe, slide the pipe into place and start the exhaust stud nuts Next, hold the front clamp in place and slide the muffler onto the head pipe. When the muffler is in the correct position, attach it to the rear exhaust hanger bracket. 5 Super Trap:Layout 1 5/17/2007 9:01 PM Page 70 R D After hanging the rear of the pipe from the hangar bracket, tighten the exhaust stud nuts With the front of the pipe secured to the bike, tighten the exhaust clamp connecting the muffler to the head pipe. After the clamp is tight, tighten the bolts holding the muffler to the rear hangar bracket. 17. Now, install the hose clamps into the slots on the heat shields americanbaggermag.com - July 07

The head pipe heat shields are then loosely attached to the pipe After positioning all the heat shields, the clamps are tightened securing them into their spots on the pipe. americanbaggermag.com - July 07-71

7 Super Trap:Layout 1 5/17/2007 6:23 PM Page 72 R D a Next, install the bolts through the end cap and the 20 supplied discs. While holding everything together, attach the assembly to the muffler. We based our decision to use 20 discs off the original base calibration settings from. 24. The last step of the actual exhaust pipe installation is to replace both floorboards and wipe all the fingerprints and dirt off the heat shields and muffler It is now time to begin installing the FiControl. Remove the seat and disconnect the negative battery cable. 26. The air cleaner needs to be removed to gain access to the throttle body. Start by removing the outer air cleaner cover Next, loosen and remove the three torx screws that hold the air filter element to the backing plate and the throttle body. 28. The head bolts are then removed, so the backing plate can be removed pp ra rt pe Su 29. With the backing plate removed, there is plenty of room to work around the throttle body americanbaggermag.com - July To make the routing of the wires for the FiControl easier, the gas tank can be propped up at the rear. In order to prop it up, remove the rear mounting bolt and loosen the two front mounting bolts.

8 Super Trap:Layout 1 5/17/2007 6:24 PM Page 74 R D The fuel line is also detached before propping the rear of the gas tank up. 32. After removing the gas cap and three dash mounting screws, the dash is removed from the tank and the rear of the gas tank is elevated After routing the wires for the FiControl under the tank and to the throttle body, unhook both the throttle position sensor and the intake air temperature sensor The wires at the throttle body from the FiControl include four plugs. Two plugs for the sensors that were unhooked in the previous step, and the remaining plugs are used to complete a loop between the FiControl and the throttle body With the throttle body wiring complete, zip tie the wiring up and out of the way. 36. Now, turn your attention to the ECU located under the right side cover pp a Tr er p Su 37. After unplugging the ECU connector and separating the two halves, carefully slice the protective loom around the wiring harness to single out the blue wire with the orange tracer americanbaggermag.com - July Next, route the RPM antenna and the power connecter from the FiControl to the ECU area. The RPM antenna wire is then wrapped around the singled out blue/orange ECU wire a minimum of 20 times.

9 Super Trap:Layout 1 5/17/2007 6:25 PM Page 76 R D Then, wrap the RPM antenna wire with the provided RMI tape and secure that with electrical tape. 40. Using the electrical tape again, tape the antenna wire to the main ECU wire harness With the RPM antenna wire installation complete, reconnect the ECU connector. 42. The only other wire from the FiControl unit is a small connector the mates with the bikes data link plug located by the ECU. Start by removing the rubber plug from the data link plug Next, connect the plug from the FiControl unit to the data link plug. The wires are then neatly tucked away and the right side cover is replaced. The FiControl install is now complete! That means it is time to put back together everything you have taken apart. 44. While putting the air cleaner unit back together slip in the ProFilter that came with the kit.
