The ambient temperature range of each fieldbus junction box can be found in its data sheet. These data sheets are available for download at Fieldbus junction box Ex i At a maxum ambient temperature of 85 C and a maximum current of 3 A, the maximum surface temperature of the distributor is 100 C. 5.2 Fieldbus junction box with short-circuit current limiting for Category 3 G Zone 2 At a maximum ambient temperature of 70 C a maximum surface temperature of 120 C results. 11
Mounting and dismounting 6 Mounting and dismounting This chapter applies to all fieldbus junction boxes. 6.1 General Mounting and dismounting are only to be performed by specially trained professionals. The housings of the fieldbus junction boxes are designed for mounting on walls. For the F2 housing, 2 screws with a diameter of 6mm should be used. For the F3/F4 housing, 2 screws with a diameter of 4 mm should be used. For the F6 housing, 2 or 4 screws with a diameter of 6 mm should be used. Mounting accessories should be chosen corresponding to the existing mounting surface. The selection should be made to ensure a secure attachment. Fieldbus junction boxes of the R version are to be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail compliant with EN Recognized rules of the technology and setup requirements must be observed during mounting and dismounting. Especially for tasks on electrical systems, special safety requirements must be observed. Special attention must be paid to the following points: 1. Has the fieldbus junction box been installed in accordance with specifications? 2. Is the fieldbus junction box free of damage? 3. Is IP protection ensured? 4. Are the screws tightened securely? The torque to use on the fastening screws depends on the screws used. The cover screws should be tightened to a torque of 2.5 Nm. 6.2 Fieldbus junction box Ex i When installing the fieldbus junction box Ex i in hazardous areas, the following points are particularly important: 12
Mounting and dismounting Fieldbus junction box Ex i in field housing F -JB-...I Fieldbus junction boxes must be protected from electrostatic charge. In Category 1G Zone 0, the fieldbus junction box must be installed in such a way that even in the event of occasional service interruptions, ignition sources resulting from sparks due to striking or abrading metal are avoided. Fieldbus junction boxes with plastic cable glands must be installed in such a way that the glands are protected from mechanical damage Fieldbus junction box Ex i without field housing R-JB-I-... The fieldbus junction boxes R-JB-I... are designed for installation on standard 35 mm rails in accordance with EN They must be installed in a housing corresonding to at least an ignition protection class 20 in accordance with EN The housing must be suitable for this purpose. For use in Category 1 (Zone 0), the use of a plastic housing is not allowed. If metal housings are used, they must be installed in such a way that even in the event of occasional service ignition sources resulting from sparks due to striking or abrading metal are avoided. If plastic housings are used in Category 2G and 3G (Zone 1 and 2), it must be constructed in such a way that if used as intended, ignition danger from electrostatic charge during maintenance and cleaning are avoided. 6.3 Fieldbus junction boxes with short-circuit current limiting for Category 3 G Fieldbus junction boxes with short-circuit current limiting may only be installed in hazardous areas of Category 3 G (Zone 2) or or Class I, Division 2. The following points are particularly 13
Mounting and dismounting to be considered. Only devices suitable for use in Zone 2 resp. or Class I, Division 2 and at the installation location, and for which the corresponding documents (manufacturer declaration or certificate from inspecting authorities) are in order, may be connected to electric circuits in Zone 2 resp. or Class I, Division Fieldbus junction boxes in field housing with short-circuit current limiting F -JBSC-... Fieldbus junction boxes must be protected from electrostatic charge Fieldbus junction boxes without field housing with short-circuit current limiting R-JBSC-..Mechanical dimensions. Fieldbus junction boxes without field housings must be installed in an enclosure which corresponds at least to ignition protection class 54 in accordance with EN The enclosure must be suitable for this purpose. If a plastic enclosure is used, then it must be constructed in such a way that if used as intended, ignition danger from electrostatic charge during maintenance and cleaning are avoided. 14

Installation/commissioning 7 Installation/commissioning This chapter of the instruction manual applies to all fieldbus junction boxes. 7.1 General Fieldbus junction boxes may only be operated by trained professionals in accordance with these operating instructions. Please take the cable parameters to be used from the installation instructions of the corresponding fieldbus system. The insulating length of the leads is 9 mm (only for fieldbus junction boxes with screw terminals). If stranded wires are used, the wire ends must be protected from fraying, for instance by using end splices. The following identifying values must be observed when connecting fieldbus transmission lines: Tightening torque of the screw terminals (if present) Nm Tightening torques of the screwed connection of cable pass-throughs: The tightening torques of cap nuts depend on what type of cable is used and must therefore be determined by the user. The cap nuts must be securely tightened. Tightening the cap nuts too tight can have a negative effect on the protection class. The following figures should be taken as rough guides: Type F -JB -...CG F -JB -...CGB F -JB -...CGS F -JB -...CGAB Table 7.1: Tightening torques Cap nut 2.5 Nm 4.11 Nm 4.11 Nm 22 Nm The tightening torques given in Table 7.1 are valid for fieldbus junction boxes for which identical cable glands are used for both trunks and spurs. It is possible for fieldbus junction boxes to be installed with different connection types for trunks and spurs (see Chapter 1). The tightening torques given in Table 7.1 are valid whether or not, for instance, cable glands are used for the trunk or the spurs or both. The power supply must always be through the connector for fieldbus junction boxes with plug connections. The cap nut of the connector is to be hand-tightened. Unused connectors must be secured in such a way that the ignition protection class is maintained. For fieldbus junction boxes with cable glands, power must always be supplied through the input, that is, through the second cable gland from the right (as seen from above) (compare Figure 8.1 and Figure 8.3). 19
Installation/commissioning In order to maintain the ignition protection class, all unused cable glands must be plugged with a suitable closing plug or replaced by a suitable closing screw. The closing plugs and screws must be suitable for this application. 7.2 Fieldbus Junction Box Ex i Fieldbus junction boxes may be installed in accordance with their ratings in zones 0, 1 or 2, or in Class I Div. 1 and 2, Class II Div. 1 and 2 or Class III Div. 1 and 2. In category 1 CG (zone 0), the power supply circuit must comply with ignition protection class "ia". Fieldbus junction boxes must be protected from electrostatic charge. The Declaration of Conformity must be observed. It is especially important to maintain any "special conditions" that may be indicated. If installation is performed in compliance with the FISCO model, the maximum length of each spur is limited to 30 m. If stranded wires are used in hazardous areas, the wire ends must be protected from fraying, for instance by using end splices. The diameter of individual wires in hazardous areas may not be less than 0.1 mm. This also applies to the individual strands of stranded wires. During installation of intrinsically safe fieldbus junction boxes and fieldbus segments, EN /IEC should be observed. For the Federal Republic of Germany, the "NationalForeword of DIN EN /VDE 0165 Part 1 must also be observed Fieldbus junction box Ex i in field housing F -JB-I-... For metallic housings in hazardous areas, a suitable potential equalization compliant with EN is required. A ground screw is provided for this purpose on the F2/F6 housings, and a ground terminal on the F3/F4 housings. Connections must be secured against loosening and protected against corrosion. Corrosion protection can be achieved, for example, by using tinned cable plates. Only permanently laid cables and lines must be fed into the cable glands. For the permissible cable diameters, please refer to the respective data sheet. The operator must provide a suitable strain relief (for instance, a suitable cable clamp). The mounting notes in Chapter must be observed. Before closing the cover, a visual inspection should be performed to ensure that the cover seal shows no visible damage. In case of damage, the seal must be replaced 20
Installation/commissioning with an original seal. The screws on the cover should be tightened to a torque of 2.5 Nm. 7.3 Fieldbus junction boxes with short-circuit current limiting for Category 3 G The integrated fieldbus resistor may only be connected if the fieldbus junction box is the last one on the fieldbus segment and the fieldbus resistor of the field device is not in use. The position of the slide switch can be seen in Figure 8.1 for the F2 and F6 housings, in Figure 8.3 for the F3 housing, or in Figure 8.5 for the F4 housing. Only devices suitable for operation in hazardous areas in Zone 2 or Class I, Division 2 and the local operating conditions may be connected to these circuits (see manufacturer's statement or certificate from inspection authorities). The fieldbus junction box R-JBSC-... should be set up in such a way that at least protection class IP54 according to EN is maintained. The connection and disconnection as well as the switching of circuits carrying current is permitted only during installation or maintenance, or for purposes of repair. Note: The temporary coexistence of potentionally explosive atmosphere and installation, maintenance, and repair is considered improbable in Zone 2 resp. Class I, Division 2. All unused cable glands must be plugged with a suitable closing plug or replaced by a suitable closing screw. The closing plugs and screws must be suitable for this application. Unused M12 and 7/8" connectors must be secured in such a way that protection class IP54 according to EN is maintained. M12 and 7/8" connectors may only be connected or disconnected in when power is switched off. 7.4 Grounding / shielding of fieldbus transmission lines Shielding connections of spurs are connected internally with the "S" terminal. Shielding connections of trunks are connected internally with the "T" terminal. The terminals are connected with the external grounding clamp. If the shields of spurs will be hard grounded, only terminal S needs to be connected via accessory part JB-BR-TB with one of the terminals. 21
Installation/commissioning If the shields of trunks will be hard grounded, only terminal T needs to be connected via accessory part JB-BR-TB with one of the terminals. By connecting a suitable capacitor between the and "S" or "T" clamps, a capacitive ground of the shield of the corresponding fieldbus transmission line is achieved. If terminals "S" or "T" are not connected with terminal, the shield of the fieldbus transmission line in question is not grounded. If the shield of the trunk or spurs of a fieldbus transmission line is grounded due to EMC considerations, Section of EN and Section of the PNO Handbook PROFIBUS MBP, or Sections 6.2 and 6.3 of the FOUNDATION Fieldbus Application Guides, should be closely observed. Further information about grounding can be found in the "Wiring + Installation Guide" or in the "FOUNDATION Fieldbus Pre-Engineering Document" from Pepperl+Fuchs. 22
Installation/commissioning 8 Connection layout. 8.1 Connection layout of the F2 and F6 housing as well as the R version Wall mounting Screw o 6 mm Fieldbus junction boxes for intrinsically safe fieldbus systems are identical to standard fieldbus junction boxes in terms of their layout. If fieldbus junction boxes are used for intrinsically safe fieldbus systems, the connections for the trunks and spurs (position and terminal designation) are identical to the connections of intrinsically safe trunks and intrinsically safe spurs. The same applies for cable pass-throughs and connectors. Loosen the cap nuts from the fieldbus junction box and push it onto the cable. Remove the seals from the fieldbus junction box as well and push them onto the cable. The following table details when seal 1 must be installed and when it may be omitted: Type Terminal area [mm] Seal 1 M16 x No M20 x Yes M20 x No Seal 2 must always be used! 3. Push the seal used onto the cable so that the insulation sticks out of the seal about 5 mm. 4. Push the cable and all seals used into the cable gland of the fieldbus junction box. Then tighten the cap nut. The tightening torques of cap nuts depend on what type of cable is used and must therefore be determined by the user. A good general rule for fieldbus junction boxes of type F -JB -*.CG is 2,5 Nm for the cap nuts. Observe the notes on page 19 of this instruction manual. Step 1 Step 2 Seal 1 Seal 2 Step 3 Step 4 28
Maintenance of cable glands 9.2 Maintenance of the F -JB...CGB and F -JB -...CGS cable gland 1. Insulate the covering of the cable up to about 160 mm. 2. Loosen the cap nuts from the fieldbus junction box and push it onto the cable. 3. Remove the seals from the fieldbus junction box as well and push them onto the cable. Move the inside plastic part far enough over the cable that the covering is completely surrounded by the seal. The insulation should not come further than the end of the inner plastic piece. 4. Pull the shield over the inside plastic part and shorten it to the correct length. The shield should project about 3 to 4 mm over the O ring. 5. Push the cable and inner plastic piece into the lower part of the cable gland. 6. Then tighten the cap nut. The tightening torques of cap nuts depend on what type of cable is used and must therefore be determined by the user. A good general value for fieldbus junction boxes of type F -JB -...CGB and F - JB -...CGS is 4.17 Nm. Please observe the information on page 19 of this instruction manual. 33 Maintenance of cable glands 9.4 Mounting the stop plug A cable pass-through that is not being used must be provided with a stop plug to maintain the protection class. When mounting the stop plug, the cable pass-through must be provided with all seals. Stop plug Cap nut Lower part 1. Remove the cap nut from the lower part if this has not already been done. 2. Push the stop plug up into the cable pass-through as far as it will go. 3. Tighten the cap nut securely. Note the tightening torques in Chapter 9.1 and in Chapter Repair and maintenance The transmission behavior of the fieldbus junction box is stable even over long periods of time. There is thus no need for regular adjustments or similar tasks. Maintenance is therefore not required. 11 Fault elimination Fieldbus junction boxes that are operated in connection with areas subject to the danger of explosion must not be modified. If there is a defect, the fieldbus junction box must always be replaced. Defective housing parts (for example, cover seals) may only be replaced by original parts. Tasks for eliminating malfunctions must only be performed by specialists who are specially trained and authorised for the task. 12 Disposal Disposal of the packaging and fieldbus junction box must only take place in accordance with the requirements of the country in which the segment coupler is installed. The fieldbus junction box does not contain any batteries that must be disposed of separately from the fieldbus junction box. 31
