3 Repair Kit EP 10 1 Safety Instructions WARNING: Observe and follow all safety instructions, the general safety instructions included as a separate document, as well as the specific safety instructions in all other related documentation. Disassembling and Cleaning the EP 10 Control Module NOTE: When repairs have been performed, the control module is no longer considered new. A repaired control module will not have the same long lifetime as a new control module. Nordson can not provide a guarantee for the repaired control module Before beginning repairs, check that the repair kit is complete (Refer to parts list). Have all tools, cleaning agents and lubricants needed for repair work ready. 2. Release the four screws M4 x 80 (1), then extract the control module from the application head and remove the cover (2).. Brace the hexagonal head of the nozzle stem (5) with a wrench to prevent it from slipping. 4. Unscrew the hexagonal nut (1). 5. Extract the control piston (12) with a socket wrench. 6. Detach the cylinder (11) from the socket block (8) and remove the spring (9). Check the cylinder contact surfaces for wear; replace if necessary. 7. Replace the muffler (10). 8. Extract the nozzle stem (5) from the bottom. 9. Replace the O-rings (), shaft seal (4) and pressure disk (7). 10. Lubricate the new O-rings () and grooves before assembling. Refer to Processing Materials. 5 Fig. 1 WARNING: Always follow manufacturer s instructions when using cleaning agents! Read the Manufacturer s Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and product information concerning the cleaning agent thoroughly. 11. Clean the nozzle stem (5), nozzle insert (6) and socket block (8) in a bath.

4 2 Repair Kit EP 10 Assembling Control Module 1. Slide the nozzle insert (6) onto the nozzle stem (5), then carefully slide them through the shaft seal (4) and into the socket block (8). CAUTION: Use caution to protect the seals in the socket block from damage. Fig. 2 0 EP Slide the spring (9) onto the nozzle stem (5).. Place the cylinder (11) on the socket block (8). 4. Brace the nozzle stem (5) to prevent it from slipping; apply screw retention adhesive (e.g. Loctite 241) to the thread. 5. Slide a sensor gage 0. mm (P/N , Fig. 2) between the socket block (8) and the nozzle insert (6). 6. With a socket wrench screw the control piston (12) onto the nozzle stem (5) until the sensor gage can just barely be extracted. 7. Grasp the nozzle stem (5) to prevent slipping. Glue hexagonal nut M (1) into place with Loctite 241 and tighten with a torque wrench (1.2 Nm). Brace the control piston with a wrench to prevent it from slipping. 8. Check the dimension mm ( in.); adjust if necessary and check again. 9. Put the cover (2) in place.

5 Repair Kit EP 10 Installing Control Module NOTE: Required tool: Torque wrench. ÎÎ ÎÎ 1. Apply high temperature grease (Refer to Processing Materials) (arrow, Figure ): To the O-rings To the thread screws Under the screw heads. 2. Insert new control module carefully, taking care not to tilt it. NOTE: When the control module is slid into the body, the two O-rings cause some resistance that must be overcome. When the part with the detection holes is on the body, the control module has been slid in far enough.. Screw in the four screws (M4) by hand. Do not tighten! Fig. 4. Then tighten the screws like this: a. Use a torque wrench! b. Use a torque wrench to tighten screws crosswise in several steps up to M = 2.7 Nm. 5. Ensure that the compressed air supply has been converted to absolutely non-lubricated operation. 6. Re-connect air and electrical connection. NOTE: Observe the voltage stated on the ID plate of the solenoid valve. Oily/greasy parts must be cleaned before application. Apply to threads
