2 Front Strut Removal Lift the car and support it properly. This installation can either be done on jack stands or on a lift. Open the hood and remove the plastic cover from the upper strut nuts and the upper nut and plate on each side - See Figure 1 and Figure 2. This nut is 24 mm. This may allow the strut to lower from the tower, but most likely it will be stuck in place still.!caution! the second nut holds the spring tension, do not remove that yet. See Figure 1 Figure 1 2 5/13/11

3 Lift the vehicle and remove both front tires. Remove the bolt (10mm hex) that holds the brake line to the strut housing and remove the wheel speed sensor wire from its bracket on the strut housing Remove the 15mm nut that holds the swaybar endlink to the strut and move the endlink out of the way. You may have to use a 7mm box wrench to keep the stud from turning. Mark the location - with a scribe or marker - of the upper strut to spindle bolt. This hole is slotted and is the adjustment for camber. Marking the location will give you a starting point when re-assembling. Remove the two nuts on the spindle to strut bolts (24mm hex). 4 Support the strut by hand and remove the two bolts. The strut should be able to be removed from the vehicle now. The upper mount may stick in the tower, some amount of force and twisting might be required to remove the unit. With the unit out of the car, use a spring compressor to compress the spring and remove the spring perch retaining nut (see Figure 1). The upper perch can now be removed from your strut. Figure 4 - Front Strut Removed from Vehicle Remove the upper spring perch assembly from the strut. Pull the rubber spring isolator from the factory upper perch assembly for use on the Pfadt Camber Kit spring perch. Place the Lower Camber Plate Assembly on the strut and - using the spring compressor if necessary - reinstall the strut retaining nut(s). Torque to 40 lb-ft. This step should be completed on the workbench preparing the strut for re-assembly into the vehicle. *NOTE- When using Pfadt Camber Plates with 2.5 springs (Pfadt Coilovers), discard the upper spring perch that was included with the Pfadt Coilovers, as well as the OEM Strut Dust Boot Washer* 4 5/13/11

5 Figure 5a - Assembly Diagram Figure 5b - Assembly Diagram Re-install the strut into vehicle and attach to spindle, bolting loosely. Orient and hold in place the steel nut plate below the fender and orange plate (as shown in Figure 5). Place the Upper Camber Plate on top of the strut tower and thread the 3 socket head bolts (with washers) from the top side of the strut tower into the nut plate. This retains the strut assembly in the strut tower. Leave these bolts hand tight for now. Repeat procedure on the second strut until it is loosely held in the vehicle. Re-attach the brake lines, ABS wires and sway bar endlinks to the strut assemblies. Torque endlink nut to 33 lb-ft. SETUP These camber plates are designed to allow increased camber adjustment and/or caster adjustment. You will be able to achieve an additional 1 degree of negative camber with the plates at their maximum adjustment. Depending on the Camber setting you desire, you can lock the strut to spindle adjustment in to the maximum negative position and adjust from the Camber Plates alone, or you can return the strut to spindle adjustment to the factory location and adjust from there. Guidelines for installation: -1.0 to -2.0 degrees, install the strut to spindle adjustment in the position you marked during removal -2.0 to -3 + degrees, install the strut to spindle in the maximum negative position 5 5/13/11

6 In most cases you will orient the upper plates to allow adjustment in the negative camber direction. The slot should be oriented towards the center of the car as shown in Figure 6. Figure 6 Alternatively, the plates may be oriented in any direction to facilitate caster adjustment as well as camber adjustment. Set the alignment to your desired values. Some alignment recommendations can be found on the Pfadt Race Engineering website under the DOCS menu. Remember, you will have to set toe-in after setting the camber and caster. After the alignment is set, torque the spindle to strut bolts to 95 ft-lb. Torque the Camber Plate kit bolts to 18 ft-lb. 6 5/13/11
