3 1 History From Weaving Loom to Precision Gear Box The company was founded by Carl Heinrich Schäfer His son Max Schäfer, a technical genius, became the next owner of the company Purchase of the first gear cutting machines Built of a cutting shop and large factory hall Installation of a steam engine for power generation Construction of hardening shop The company has 80 employees Purchase of a special cutting machine for the production of bevel gears. 4 1 History From Weaving Loom to Precision Gear Box Max Schaefer dedicated more and more to gear manufacturing and applied for spectacular patents. For example: CEHA Multiple-Power-Change-Gear-Reducer On the last days of WW2 the company was destroyed over 90%. The reconstruction started with 69 employees. This was done in only 3 months. The CEHA is now the most important product of the company. Starting of government participations Expropriation of the company C. H. Schäfer by the State and accession for VEB / ASUG 4 / 22
