2 PRE-INSTALLATION Check the carton and device for signs of damage. TKS-5001 Transmitter is shipped with mounting screws and one inch copper tubes. INSTALLATION MOUNTING FITTINGS Use AT-516 wall box fitting for surface mounting on all surfaces and flush mounting on plastered or stud walls. Use standard 2" x 4" box for flush mounting on masonry walls (available through most electrical supply houses). Mounting Location TKS-5001, TKS Locate the transmitter where it will be exposed to unrestricted natural air circulation representative of the average conditions. The transmitter should not be located near sources of heat or cold such as lamps, motors, sunlight, concealed ducts or pipes. TKS The pneumatic aspirated thermostat fitting is designed for flush mounting. When installing the wall box (AT-509), make sure that the front of the box is flush with the finished wall surface. The box is normally held in place by concrete block or masonry walls. Two holes are provided in the box for installation in lath-and-plaster walls. Using these two holes, the box may be attached to the lath, wall studs, etc., by means of wire, nails, or screws. Figure-1 Note: When using the box in lath-and-plaster walls, seal around the fasteners after mounting the box to prevent wall air currents from entering the box. If desired, this fitting may be surface mounted. TKS-5001 TKS-6000 Troffer and TKS-7001 Diffuser Transmitters See specific installation instructions (page 4) for proper location. RESTRICTORS A remote in-line restrictor is required when used for indication only or if the transmitter is more that 200 ft. (61 m) from the receiver controller. Figure-10 Room Air Induced Over Transmitter by Discharged Air. Mounting of TKS-7001 Diffuser Transmitter Transmitter should be mounted to the face of the ceiling diffuser so that it projects downward into the room (See Figure 9). If the diffuser has an adjustable pattern, the discharge air direction must be adjusted to a horizontal pattern. This will insure a representative sample of room air over the element (See Figure 10). The transmitter will not perform satisfactorily if the discharge is adjusted to a vertical pattern. A 7/16" (11mm) hole is required in the diffuser face for mounting. The SFS and SFB louver faced diffusers are available in nine air patterns, both in the square and rectangular design. For proper installation, use Table-2 which shows transmitter location and the mounting figure referred to in the installation procedure.
