2 Rotary Brush FAQ s What size do I order? When you place your order, please be ready with the machine manufacturer s name and model number to help determine the correct size brush and/or pad driver and mounting hardware. As a general rule, brushes for floor machines (buffers) are 2" less in size than the machine size, due to the material flare and to assure that the brush fits up underneath the buffer shroud/apron. Pad drivers are built with a molded-in 1-1/2 riser, and are 1" less in size than the machine size. For example, a 17 buffer uses a 15 brush and a 16 pad driver. BETTER BRUSH PRODUCTS Dual brush autoscrubbers may not follow this rule. Call customer service for assistance. How do I Break-in a Carpet Brush? Before using your new carpet brush, break-in the bristles to prevent burns and damage to the carpet. This is accomplished by spinning the brush on a dry, rough floor (preferably unfinished concrete) for minutes. This break-in will soften the bristle tips. When you re done, rinse the brush to remove soils. After the break-in, it is normal for the bristles to be bent to one side. Note: Brush break-in is not required if your brush is being used on hard floors. What is a Nylon Grit Bristle Brush? When you need extra scrubbing power, we recommend a nylon grit bristle brush - - a convenient and economically-sound replacement for scrubbing pads. Better Brush offers brushes in five different grades of nylon fiber with silicone carbide grit. These 5 grits are much like sandpaper grades - -allowing you to match the aggressiveness of the brush to your cleaning task. The carbide grit is impregnated the fiber at the point of extrusion. The grit becomes part of the bristle, not just glued on. The result? Grit bristle brushes can last longer than over 100 pads. As the grade number increases, the size of the grit decreases. A 46 grade grit is as powerful as coarse sandpaper. A 500 grade grit is as gentle as polishing powder. Why should I choose Better Brush Products? 4 ROTARY PAD DRIVERS If you prefer to maintain floors with rotary pads, you need a pad driver that is strong, balanced, and reliable. Better Brush Products offers pad drivers with short trim, long trim, and hook-style design; with cushioned design for higher speed (300 rpm) machines; and with the sizing and mounting hardware to fit every machine on the market. Short Bristle Pad Driver Blue, straight, stiff poly bristles with 1/2 trim to drive all pad types and thicknesses. Molded with a 1-1/2 riser for extra height clearance. Sizes: 15 thru 20 PN# thru A Complete Pad Driver Order When ordering a pad driver, be sure to include: The pad driver part number Clutch plate or lug set part number If desired, the pad-centering accessory part number. Short Bristle pad drivers have a 1-1/2 riser molded into the block, so an additional riser is usually not required. Buffer pad drivers typically have a diameter 1 smaller than the buffer size. The size of pad drivers for dual brush machines can be measured off the old pad drivers.
