2 2 Cam Goggle Valve The Cam-Goggle Valve The Fetterolf Cam Goggle Valve is a tried and tested unique line blinding valve design. It incorporates the functionality of Fetterolf proprietary Cam-Set technology and the reliability of almost 100 years of SchuF custom valve design. Together they produce a line blinding system that ensures 100% absolute positive downstream shut off. This dual functionality ensures that there is total separation of the gas main in the closed position no media can flow from the upstream to the downstream gas main. Man safe isolation is achieved. No media can pass through. The solid part of the spectacle plate covers the pipeline opening completely. The plate is locked into place by the patented cam-set mechanism. 2) In the intermediate or changing position, the cam-set mechanism is closed by the hand wheel or actuator and the spectacle plate is free to move. In large sized Cam Goggle Valves a counterweight is placed on the adjacent end of the spectacle plate which makes changing from closed to open an easy, safe and fast operation. The pipeline must be depressurised and drained before the Goggle Valve can be brought into the intermediate or open position. 3) In the open position, the cam-set mechanism has been opened, thus locking the open spectacle half into place in the pipeline. Media can now flow from upstream to downstream. The Cam Goggle valve comes with many options. Goggle Valves that need to be installed in a vertical pipeline can be supplied with a special system to support heavy spectacle plates. Locking devices, spectacle plate covers, and a variety of special sealing rings are also available.

4 4 Cam Goggle Valve Sliding Cam- Goggle Valve Features The Enclosed Cam Goggle Valve is a based on the sliding version of the Cam Goggle valve. The sliding version is more compact, lighter weight, and lends itself more effectively to be enclosed. The example below is shown without enclosure. They are man safe and 100% gas tight to the atmosphere. The enclosure is supplied with a venting system to allow any gases to be removed safely. 5 5 Cam Goggle Valve 40 Inch Enclosed Sliding Cam-Google Valve The above picture shows the Cam Google valve in the closed position. The spectacle plate is shown in orange for illustrative purposes. The valve is made up of three main parts the central core body, the enclosure tanks on both sides and the rail beam above. The core body has two vent ports in order to vent gases to atmosphere if and when required. Spectacle plate movement is achieved in two simple steps - the first hand wheel operates the internal cam mechanism. The hand wheel releases the pressure on the seal tight internal o-ring which in turn enables the second gear actuated hand wheel to move the spectacle plate from the

6 6 Cam Goggle Valve closed to the open position. For illustrative purposes the right hand enclosure or tank is shown without the front plate wall and the spectacle plate is coloured yellow. The tank enclosures are mounted on a rail beam and rollers which enables them to be pushed back for ease of maintenance. However, some limited maintenance can be achieved in the closed position. The Cam-Goggle can be actuated electrically or hydraulically or a combination of both. Fetterolf can also supply compact hydraulic units for power supply. The Cam-Goggle, Cam-Slide and Cam-Set products can all be provided in a maritime design with special coatings, Monel stems and bronze hand wheels or spectacle plates. They have been used on FPSO s, oil rigs, barges and ocean going oil tankers both above board and below deck in tanks. They can operate in submersed conditions, with control from the deck.
