Assembly Inductive proximity switch IN 80 Fig. 10 Connection example for IN 80 1 brown 2 black 3 blue The inductive proximity switches used are equipped with reverse polarity protection and are short-circuit-proof. Make sure that you handle the proximity switches properly: Do not pull on the cable. Do not allow the sensor to dangle from the cable. Do not overtighten the mounting screw or mounting clip. Please adhere to a permitted bend radius of the cable. ( catalog) Avoid contact of the proximity switches with hard objects and with chemicals, in particular nitric acid, chromic acid and sulphuric acid. The inductive proximity switches are electronic components, which can react sensitively to high-frequency interference or electromagnetic fields. Check to make sure that the cable is fastened and installed correctly. Provide for sufficient clearance to sources of highfrequency interference and their supply cables. Parallel switching of several sensor outputs of the same type (npn, pnp) is permissible, but does not increase the permissible load current. Note that the leakage current of the individual sensors (ca. 2 ma) is cumulative SRU-plus en 27

Assembly Mounting of the inductive proximity switch NOTICE When swiveling, ensure that the switch cams do not collide with the sensors. The proximity switches can be secured in three different positions: Stop A Center position Stop B The following assembly steps are the same for all three mounting positions: Fig Stop A 2 Center position 3 Stop B 1 Remove the corresponding cover disk on the housing of the SRU-plus. 2 Secure the bracket (5) in the countersink provided for it in the housing, using a hexagon socket screw (8). Caution: Only tighten the hexagon socket screw (7) far enough that the clamping sleeve (6) can still be turned. 3 Turn the pinion counter-clockwise to the corresponding stop/center position SRU-plus en

Assembly Note The following steps 4 and 5 only apply for washers with movable cams.. 4 Loosen the set screw (10 and 12) of the switch cam (9 and 13). Move the switch cam (9 and 11) until it is level with the corresponding clamping sleeve. 5 Turn the pinion back to the output position and secure the switch cams (9 and 11). Adjusting the switching gap Turn the pinion back counter-clockwise to the corresponding stop / center position. (possibly supported by actuating the corresponding air connection) 2 Push the proximity switch into the clamping sleeve (6) as far as possible, and unscrew the sleeve until the proximity switch responds. 3 Tighten the hexagon socket screw (7) until the clamping sleeve (6) no longer turns.the hexagon socket screw (7) grips the clamping sleeve (6) and simultaneously secures the bracket (5) on the rotary actuator. 4 The switching distance has now been set: Tighten the clamping screws (4) until the proximity switch is secured. 5 The switching distance has now been set: Tighten the clamping screws (4) until the proximity switch is secured. 30 Assembly NOTICE Sensor can be damaged during assembly. Do not exceed the maximum tightening torque of 10 Ncm for the set screws. NOTE Ferromagnetic material changes the switching positions of the sensor. For example: Adapter plate made of ordinary steel. At ferromagnetic adapter plates: The module must firstly be mounted on the adapter plate Then, the positions of the magnetic switch have to be set Mounting of the magnetic switch The magnetic switches can be mounted via four grooves in the module housing. The setting of the switching positions must be done as follows: 1 Turn the unit to the required swivel angle. 2 Push the magnetic switch into the groove. 3 Move the magnetic switch along the groove until it actuates. 4 Secure the magnetic switch. (see enclosed data sheet) 5 Check the switch position of the magnetic switch by swiveling the module repeatedly. NOTE We recommend the use of four magnetic switches to monitor the locked center position: One sensor each to monitor the two limit positions For monitoring approach to the center position from end position 0 For monitoring approach to the center position from end position SRU-plus en

Commissioning 8 Commissioning NOTICE Damage to the rotary module possible! The rotary module can be damaged if it arrives too abruptly in the end position. The rotary motion must reach the end position without jerk or bounce. Therefore flow control valves and shock absorbers must be used( 8.1, Page 31),( 8.2, Page 32). Please observe the diagrams and information in the catalog pages. 8.1 Setting the speed NOTICE Damage to the product is possible! The rotary module can be damaged if it arrives too abruptly in the end position. The exhaust flow control valves and the shock absorbers must be adjusted so that the rotation gradually and smoothly decelerates. Fig Completely close the exhaust flow control valves. 2 Slowly and gradually open the exhaust flow control valves and rotate the load. 3 Further open the exhaust flow control valves until the rotation gradually and smoothly decelerates SRU-plus en 31

Commissioning Fig. 15 NOTE If the speed is too high the shock absorber will be overloaded. Fig Open the exhaust flow control valve until a smooth movement is reached. NOTE In most cases the rotation will still be too slow. Further adjustment and optimization of the swivel time is achieved via adjusting the shock absorber stroke. 8.2 Adjustment of the shock absorber stroke NOTE When received from the factory, the unit is set to utilize the maximum shock absorber stroke SRU-plus en

Commissioning Fig. 17 The shock absorber stroke is too long and the end position is reached too slowly. Fig. 18 The shock absorber stroke is too short and the unit arrives in the end position too abruptly. Fig. 19 Optimal shock absorber stroke SRU-plus en 33

In an EMERGENCY STOP situation, the center position lock can come loose. Swivel the module to one of the limit positions to restart. NOTICE The pistons can be damaged if incorrectly controlled. The locking pistons must be free to extent without striking the drive pistons. Note the circuit diagram ( 9.3, Page 38). If this option is selected, the locking pistons can stop the rotating motion in the center position and enable it again. The center position can be adjusted by ± 3. 40 Function and handling Version VM with separate piston chambers WARNING Risk of injury is the machine/system moves unexpectedly! In an EMERGENCY STOP situation, the center position lock can come loose. WARNING Risk of injury is the machine/system moves unexpectedly! When ventilating the drive pistons, the module can start to rotate unintentionally (e.g. horizontal rotating axes loaded on one side). Screw the separating sleeves from the accessory pack into air connections A1 and B1. ( 9.3.1, Page 39)The two cylinder chambers of connections A and B can then be activated separately. 41 Function and handling Wiring diagram for holding the load at 0 1 Actuate B1 until C is locked. Fig. 29 Holding the load at 0 WARNING Risk of injury is the machine/system moves unexpectedly! When installing the SRU-plus horizontally, secure locking is not guaranteed during the ventilation stage when a pivoting movement is being performed from 9 o'clock (0 ) via 6 o'clock (90 ) to 3 o'clock (180 ). Screw the separating sleeves from the accessory pack into air connections A1 and B1. ( 9.3.1, Page 39)The two cylinder chambers of connections A and B can then be activated separately. (for purposes of holding torque) Control ( 9.3.2, Page 41) The following actuation is advantageous for modules from size 35 and larger depending on the application: A brief ventilation ( 9.3.2, Page 41) while the lock is being released ensures smooth travel to the limit position. Exhaust air throttles can also be used for connections A1 and B1 by installing separating sleeves. A2 and B2 then remain unthrottled SRU-plus en 41
