FUNCTIONS The MSC completely controls MECAIR diaphragm valves on reverse pulse jet dust filters for pneumatic cleaning with either filter bags or cartridges. MSC is an innovative system which consists of two parts A master unit with a four figure display, 4 pulses for selection and data input and 7 LED indicators. Control valve units (slave) in modules of 10 outputs each up to a maximum of 200 outputs. This unit can be installed on the tank near the valves or alternatively inside the pilot valve enclosure box. The connection between master and slaves is made using a simple cable with three conductors and therefore does not need to be screened. The principal functions are: Paseo de los Álamos 47, Colinas de San Jerónimo. Monterrey, Nuevo León. México Pag. 2

4 3. INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS! Do not expose the MSC to direct sunlight in order to avoid overheating of the circuit board. Connect MSC to a continually powered line to allow SHUT-DOWN CLEANING when the fan stops and to have maximum precision in the ΔP measurements. Protect MSC from rain, water infiltration and humidity.make sure that all cover screws are properly tightened in order to avoid any infiltration which can seriously damage the circuit board. The initial length of conduit which holds the electric cables which run to the MSC, should be turned upwards or interrupted before the appliance. This will stop any water or condensate entering the MSC. Avoid allowing cables to enter via the upper part of the MSC.. Avoid installing any electronic devices on vibrating structures Should you need to dispose of MSC, it should be treated as industrial waste. Do not burn in an incinerator as this may release toxic gases and condensers may explode! Do not attempt to repair MSC contact MECAIR! All wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician to avoid risk of fire and electric shocks Prior to carrying out any cable maintenance, please ensure that the terminals are disconnected [17]. All electrical cables to and from the MSC should be isolated from other wiring 4. PRELIMINARY CHECKS 1) Check that MSC is not connected to power. 2) Make sure that the power supply indicated by the yellow sticker [12] is the same of the mains voltage. 5. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION 1) Check that the MSC is not connected to power before making any connections. 2) Unscrew and remove the cover of the slave unit. 3) Make sure that the valve connections are correct and isolated in respect from the ground. At this purpose, measure the isolation between ground and common with the connectors of the outlets disconnected. 4) Connect the valve cables to the terminals[26], between common (C) and the numbered outlet terminals. The coils of the electrovalves must be 24V DC 15W Max 20W. (attention! 24V DC is the only voltage available) Never connect common (C) or valve outlets to ground. The commons (C) are interconnected on the printed circuit board. One common can be used per valve or all the commons can be connected via one wire. 5) Power supply to the a) 230 V (Ground, L = phase, N = neutral) MSC [17]: b) Or 115 V from an auxiliary transformer (coils, remote switches, etc.). In this case replace the fuse for mains [16] with a 500 ma fuse, 6) The MSC power supply must be sectioned upstream the unit Paseo de los Álamos 47, Colinas de San Jerónimo. Monterrey, Nuevo León. 5 6. FILTERED PRESSURE TAPS The ΔP inside the filter is measured by an internal sensor in the MSC which is connected to the filter via 2 filtered pressure taps. The filtered pressure taps stop process dust contaminating the tubes that attach the sensor to the filter INSTALLATION OF THE FILTER CONNECTIONS For depressurised filters install the product via the filter connections, one connection in the dirty side of the filter and one on the clean side. For pressurised filters, only install one connection on the dirty side. For each filter connection: 1) Drill 4 holes in the filter wall for the connection ( 3,75 mm., spacing between holes 39 mm.). 2) In the centre of the 4 holes, make 3-5 holes for pressure contained in a circle with a diameter of 1010 mm. The diameter of the holes should be 4 mm. (As an alternative to 3-5 fori, make a singular hole of a 20 mm diameter.). 3) Position the gasket. If the surface is uneven, cover it with plenty of silicon. 4) Check that the air passage is not obstructed 5) Position the filter connection making sure the connecting tubes are facing upwards 6) Fix the filter connection with self tapping screws( 4,25 mm.) CONNECTING THE FILTERED PRESSURE TAPS Connect the tubes of the two filter connections using the pressure inlets [13]. The clean air tube should be connected to the - hole. The dirty air tube should be connected to the + hole. N.B.: Position the filter connection in such a way that it avoids build up of dust or condensation. The two connecting tubes ( 6/4) between the filter connections and the pressure inlets [13] must be lead upwards in the first part of their path. This will avoid eventual condensation present in the tube from entering. In humid processes, use a condensation outlet for each tube If the filter connections are correctly installed and connected to the two pressure tubes [13], the display [4] will show positive ΔP values. If negative ΔP values are shown, the connection of the two tubes have been wrongly attached. In this case swap the two tubes around. Paseo de los Álamos 47, Colinas de San Jerónimo.
