2 ELECTRIC The benefits of the ELA series could be summed up as follows: EASY SET-UP The initial key parameters set up are performed by simple local interface and by his software. Due to his design, it s not necessary to open any frame: you can perform any operation directly at site. ENHANCED LOCAL INTERFACE ELA actuator has a graphic display showing updated information on actuator status and variable values. Important alarms are high-lighted with visible and intelligible icons. DIAGNOSTICS Internal circuits continuously monitor the status of the system and elaborate all the information coming from the sensors. A built-in data logger records all the information about the operations, alarms and site conditions. Settings and diagnostics can be performed even under main power shutdown. MODULAR DESIGN FOR SIMPLE COMMISSIONING ELA actuators are designed with modular structure. You can easily modify, update or replace any electrical components (also the elec-trical motor). NON-INTRUSIVE LOCAL CONTROLS ELA covers don t need to be removed for site commissioning/ configuration/diagnostic interrogation. All these operations are made by using the local control on the front side. The actuators remain therefore sealed for life assuring the higher protection of all the internal components. ELA Actuator consist of: ELECTRIC MOTOR All the actuators are provided with an asynchronous three-phase motor with squirrel-cage rotor. It is designed to guarantee high static torque and low inertia with an extended power range (from 0.05 [kw] up to 11 [kw]). Several voltage supplies can be accepted: 50 [Hz]: 230, 240, 380, 400, 415, 440, 460, 480, 500, 690 [V] 60 [Hz]: 208, 280, 380, 460, 575 [V] (± 10% Voltage fluctuations, ± 2% Frequency fluctuations) REDUCTION GEARING The actuator gearing is totally enclosed in a oil-filled housing suitable for operation at any position. Oil bath gearing assures a longer life service than traditional grease one. HANDWHEEL FOR MANUAL OPERATION ELA actuators are provided with an handwheel to allow manual operation of the valve during electrical power shutdown. For safe operations, the de-clutching mechanism will automatically disengage the handwheel when the motor is running. POSITION AND TORQUE LIMITATION WITH ELECTRONIC LOGIC CONTROLS ELA actuators are provided with intelligent logic control which allows to easily set-up all the key parameters. A secundary power source and the low power consumption electronic assure the correct setting and the visualization on the display even in case of main power shutdown. In case of manual operation, a stand alone position control circuit will update, store and display all the parameters. All internal sensors are opto-isolated. TERMINAL BLOCK ELA actuators terminal block is housed in a double sealed watertight enclosure ensuring the integrity of the electrical equipment (IP65 minimum). ALARMS & CONTROLS In order to prevent every possible malfunction or any dangerous situation, a wide set of alarms is implemented in the ELA logic control: thermal protection, several self-adjustable controls on the main power supply, protection against jammed valve or hammer effect. REMOTE CONTROL ELA range actuators are supplied as standard for hardwired remote control. The fieldbus systems available for ELA actuators are Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, DeviceNet, Ethernet. 2

7 ACTUATORS GAS OVER OIL Valvitalia manufactures a full line of gas over oil actuators.
