2 2 Removal of the 1-BOX Aftertreatment Harness 2 Removal of the 1-BOX Aftertreatment Harness Remove as follows: WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY To avoid injury before starting and running the engine, ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, parking brake is set, and the wheels are blocked. 1. Shut off the engine, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other applicable safety steps. 2. Disconnect the battery power to the engine. Refer to OEM procedures. 3. If needed, remove the upper and lower step plates. Refer to OEM procedures. 4. If needed, remove the side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures. 5. Disconnect Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) inlet pressure sensor connector (2). 6. Disconnect DOC inlet temperature sensor connector (5) and unclip from mounting clip (6). 7. Disconnect DOC outlet temperature sensor connector (1) and unclip from the mounting clip (6). 8. Remove the bolt securing the Aftertreatment System (ATS) harness to the front sensor bracket (3). 9. Disconnect the edge-biter clip from the front sensor bracket (4). 10. Remove the harness from the front sensor bracket. 11. At the rear of the Aftertreatment System (ATS), disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing valve connector (1). 4 All information subject to change without notice. 3 Disconnect the inlet NOx sensor at sensor ECU (3). 13. Disconnect the outlet NOx sensor at sensor ECU (2). 14. Disconnect the edge-biter clip (1) from rear 1-BOX bracket. All information subject to change without notice Copyright 2015 DETROIT DIESEL CORPORATION 5

5 Disconnect the five edge-biter clips (1) from the harness bridge. 17. Disconnect the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) outlet pressure sensor connector (4). 18. Disconnect the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) outlet temperature sensor connector (3) and remove from the mounting clip. 19. Disconnect the DPF outlet temperature sensor connector (6) and remove from the mounting clip. 20. Disconnect the SCR inlet temperature sensor connector (7) and remove from the mounting clip. 21. Loosen locking nut (5) and remove the 47 pin connector (2) from the harness bridge. NOTE: Record the routing of the ATS harness as this will be needed for installation. 22. 6 3 Installation of the 1-BOX Aftertreatment Harness 3 Installation of the 1-BOX Aftertreatment Harness Install as follows: 1. Lay out the Aftertreatment System (ATS) harness across the top of the 1-BOX. 2. Install 47-pin connector (2) onto the harness bridge and hand-tighten the plastic retaining nut (5). 3. Connect the 47-pin connector and twist to lock. 4. Connect the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) inlet temperature sensor connector (7) and install in the mounting clip. 5. Connect the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) outlet temperature sensor connector (6) and install in the mounting clip. 6. Connect the SCR outlet temperature sensor connector (3) and install in the mounting clip. NOTICE: Make sure all harness clips are attached at the proper location to prevent melting or chaffing of the ATS harness. 7. Connect the DPF outlet pressure sensor connector (4). 8. Install five edge-biter clips (1) onto the harness bridge. 9. At the front of the 1-BOX, connect the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) outlet temperature sensor connector (1) and install in the mounting clip (6). 8 All information subject to change without notice. 7 Connect the DOC inlet temperature sensor connector (5) and install in the mounting clip (6). 11. Connect the DOC inlet pressure sensor connector (2). 12. Install the edge-biter clip (4) onto the front sensor bracket. 13. Install the mounting bolt (3) securing the ATS harness to front sensor bracket. 14. Torque the mounting bolt to 30 N m (22 lb ft). 15. At the rear of the 1-BOX, install the edge-biter clip (1) onto the rear 1-BOX bracket. 10 3 Installation of the 1-BOX Aftertreatment Harness NOTICE: Make sure to route the ATS harness to the outside of the DEF dosing unit connector as shown in the picture to prevent melting or chaffing of the ATS harness. 19. Connect the battery power to the engine. Refer to OEM procedures. 20. If removed, install the side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures. 21. If removed, install the upper and lower step plates.
